Good afternoon. Thank you for sharing this story with us. We are both close in age. Looking back, no wonder why so many of us became addicted to these pills. I’m glad that you were able to pull through. That being said, I’m currently on maintenance medication for the second time. It would be nice if I could conjure up the strength to exercise. Keep up the great work brother! Take care👍🏻

Suboxone it worked for me. The other thing my counselor drilled into me was practice birth control. Getting a girl pregnant would destroy my life. I listened. I worked 2 full time jobs for a long time on purpose. I never had time for anything else. It worked. Bought a home and a nice car. Life is good.

Man I got caught up in the pill mill world! I was a meth addict and never really messed with pills I preferred alcohol as a downer but that all changed early 2000's and the crushable oxy 80's until they changed the formula and by then I was hooked! That era got a bunch of us and many didn't make it
@whocares4464 Жыл бұрын

I feel your pain , I was on pregrablin , mst slow releasing morphine and oramorph for 6 years solid as nhs refused me hip surgery, they after 5 years swapped my morphine for OxyContin and that was horrific for 4 weeks , so I begged my doctor to change me back …. Last year I paid privately for my hip op and glad I’m off it all now but it was hell
@erickennedy5666Ай бұрын
It’s terrible, because I still get excited over any opioid or opiate. If it was right in front of me I don’t know if I could say no. The feeling was just too good for me. Once you feel it you don’t want to deprive yourself of that euphoric feeling. That’s addiction. Something that ruins your life but makes you have a good time doing it.
@CraigsoubliereАй бұрын
The pull of addiction is no joke. That euphoria-the way it tricks your brain into believing you need it to survive-is one of the hardest things to fight. But here’s the truth: the feeling you’re chasing isn’t real. It’s a lie designed to destroy you, one hit at a time. You’re not just depriving yourself of a high when you say no; you’re choosing freedom. Freedom from the guilt, shame, and damage that addiction leaves in its wake. You’re choosing to build a life where the good moments are real and not chemically manufactured. It starts with small wins. You don’t have to say “no” forever; you just have to say “no” today. Focus on getting through one moment at a time. Build a life so full of purpose, meaning, and genuine joy that the false promises of opioids lose their appeal. I’m proof it’s possible. That craving, that excitement-it can fade. But only if you fight for your life. And trust me, it’s a fight worth winning. You are worth it. Keep moving forward. One step at a time.

What scared the crap out of me with this overly generous prescription of oxy Cotton is it could’ve made me an addict. I came out of the hospital with something in my leg after surgery and the doctor prescribed 300 OxyContin. I didn’t even need 50 and I didn’t know it until I got the prescription filled, it isn’t because I didn’t abuse any of them because I know I did. It’s because I just didn’t have that addiction gene.

Texas is where the shit was crazy. In the early 2000s, i would drive to Houston . And hit as many clinics as possible. Every one of them would give 120 each of lorcet, soma, and Xanax. Each of these clinics had its own pharmacy within a block, and they only had 3 items. You can guess what they are. It was unbelievable.

I’m prescribed Oxy for my scoliosis. Been on the same dose for 6 years. Never take more than prescribed daily. The problem is that the meds are about 1/2 effective as they were 5 years ago but it’s better than nothing. Advil helps a lot. I would be in rough shape without it. But you can’t abuse it under doctor care as they piss test you. Just have discipline and don’t take meds to seek a high. Take them to take the edge off pain. Simple.
