Hey Guys!! OMG is this not the most amazing video ever?!! With Christmas coming, it is such a breath of fresh air to be able to hop on and find you all ALWAYS moving forward with your BEST FOOT ....AMAZING! I am so grateful to have you all and knowing others are always coming in and learning, being inspired and growing themselves on so many levels really makes it hard to see the negative that tries to creep in from time to time during the Holidays!! I just love knowing that whether we are up or down, we can come here and find a smile, give a smile or try to smile! That's what we forget sometimes. "We cannot change the wind but...we CAN adjust our sails!!" I am continually thankful for all you do for the community...well, NOW...WORLD!!! You two take on the HARDEST projects and goals EVERYTIME! It is so mind blowing that you then attempt this in a WALMART before THANKSGIVING?!! My heart was racing, sweat was beading on my forehead and Andrea you had to have been scared a lot because lord knows Dan is trying it all!! You are such an amazing couple and are changing lives, challenging minds and spreading Hope like wildflowers!! Thanks for the constant reminder that ANYTHING is possible!! GO YOU TWO!!!
@elainethomas9532 Жыл бұрын
I can't imagine what it took for you two to work together as a team yet independently giving each other space and also being available when needed. Love, communication, and patience with each other. You heard Dan and came up with using mirrors. He accepted letting you lift one side of the water and he heard not straining his back, not that he needed help. With God and an amazing couple you're family works and loves together so well 🙏💗🙏

I have a non complete spinal cord I am in a motorized wheelchair I had my surgery a year ago this past October from a tumor in my upper back that had wrapped around the nerves in my spinal cord and which caused me to lose my ability. They considered me a paraplegic because I could not move anything below the the waist after the surgery. I have been in rehab since January of this year and have regained the use of my legs and feet. I'm starting to stand on my Walker and take steps. You have been such an inspiration to me because I have been watching you keep fighting don't give up because I'm not. You got this

I love seeing Dan’s courage. He’s an incredible man and both of you are so lucky to have fund each other with all your trials and tribulations. It’s lovely to see how you support each other. When I saw the short clip I imagined walking was exhausting, and it was interesting to hear Dan break down how and why it’s so physically hard and tiring. It occurred to me the shopping carts aren’t designed to be walkers so walking with them may be much more tiring than some walker designed for that purpose and ergonomically fitted to Dan’s build. If Dan can get hold of or design for himself specific equipment to help him walk he may begin to walk & stand better than he or anyone could ever have hoped even if most of the time he still needs a wheelchair. GO DAN 🙌🏻⚡️

That’s amazing! You are truly inspiring. My husband doesn’t have any feeling in his left hand and he gets so mad when he is working on something and can’t get it because he can’t see his hand. He says if he can see his hand then he knows exactly what it’s doing. I totally understand. His spine is slowly deteriorating and so much of it is gone. They claim he is a medical mystery because he shouldn’t be walking at all. His back was so strong that the muscle and cartilage wrapped around his spine to protect it and it shows so on all his scans. In one spot it’s getting scary though because the bone is curved inwards and it’s pointed and pressing into his spinal cord. They said eventually it will kill him because it’s going to cut it like a knife. I’m scared for him everyday. He owned a construction company for over 30 years and then went into farming when we learned of his bone and muscle damage. He just won’t stop but I know I have to support him on his journey.

Well that was absolutely astounding to watch&listen to. You continue to push the restrictions your physical body has & mentally challenge it to respond. Your correct in your thinking that the mind has great powers&that you I'm sure are going to pursue this further. Your explanation of how you experience the feeling within the muscles that you can feel is totally brilliant as it allows others in similar situations of exertion to understand the effects it has on your body&breathing. I don't doubt that you will carry on repeating this trying to walk but please please do it with caution. I'm so glad that Andrea was prepared for this beforehand as I'm sure last time her heart must have jumped a mile seeing you holding onto that kart. Have a very happy Thanksgiving & blessings to you all. 🙏❤️🎉

Great job! I saw the bunk beds post just the other day & wanted to follow your life & family. What an inspiration you are to your family, friends & all of us watching your story. Keep on working at it, build muscle & work on your legs, you'll get there. I totally understand you having to look at your legs due to no feeling in them your brain and everything doesn't calculate walking & movement but if you continue to do a small walk this will improve.

I dont know why but when I stepped down on my right foot there was nothing....and if the nurse hadnt have had the safety belt around me I would just have went down....it scared me and the nurse, but she caught me and pulled me back up and this time I coulf feel and stand.....but for those briefs seconds I know how you must feel.....it was so strange and I dont have words to describe how I felt.....just no words.....no feeling at all....no pain, no sensation at ALL! God Bless you all!! Punch the day for me my friends!!

The image of ourselves as able-bodied people comes from TV images of fitness that we have all been conditioned to accept. I’m sure you feel defeated seeing the new image that you have been dealt in life. I’m 79. The image I see in the mirror is definitely not the image I have in my head of the 25-year-old me. We are more than our bodies. You are such a great roll model, not just for other men, but for women who have a spinal-cord injury. I’m sure that many people simply give up. Seeing all of the things you do helps others realize that their life is not over after such a devastating injury.

I think what your trying to explain, Dan, is called proprioception. It sort of means knowing where your body parts are in relation to each other. In your case, you have little awareness. Is it my imagination or are you “feeling” more now than when I subscribed 4 years ago. I so admire your tenacity Dan. Blessings to both you and Andrea! ❤️

New subscriber here. I can’t even pretend to imagine what you’re feeling after watching this video but don’t you think it’s just part of the mourning process? I’m sure you have good days and bad, but I can’t imagine that anyone in your situation does not mourn for the life they used to have. And I think that is OK to do that. As long as you are always moving forward and looking ahead (which you def are) and not staying in that place for very long. If I can liken it to an able bodied person, I would think it’s similar to mourning your youth that’s gone. Maybe mourning your prior physical fitness, your prior abilities that you used to have but don’t anymore. I’m 62 years old so I’m starting to experience some of that myself!! God bless you guys, you’re an inspiration to all!! ❤

Also having your sweet wife am and pm do range of motion exercises will do wonders for you. Yrs ago Dr said my mother would never walk or sit up after her masive stroke. My Bro and I poofed at Dr words. We started doing them while she was still at rehap/therapy. Glory!! Not only sit but walked. Her mind was always sharp, just her body was ugh at the start.
