I love how the whole family is adventurous and intrepid in trying out the local cuisines. The Filipino culinary as you can see do not put things to waste, whatever parts can be eaten they will find a way to make it palatable. An interesting trivia is that back in the colonial times the Philippines was one of the two (the other being Mexico) global trading posts for the galleon trade known as the Manila Acapulco galleon trade that run for 250 years. The Manila Acapulco galleon trade ran for twice a year for 250 years without fail from 1565-1815 between Manila in the Philippines and Acapulco in Mexico. That is the way many of the foods like the sineguelas and ingredients from around the world first came to the Philippines. The mangoes for instance is not endemic to the Philippines but the Philippines have created many cultivars of mangoes, the island of Guimaras in particular producing some of the sweetest mangoes in the world.

20:16 - No worries. You don't have to mix Halo-Halo, despite it's name. There's really no wrong way of eating it. Some Filipinos prefer to eat it tasting each ingredient, and not mixed into a pile of mush. I like seeing the colors too when I eat my Halo-Halo.
