She has sorry parents. They expect the oldest child to do their responsibilities as parents. Father is lazy and wont work. Mom works a minimum wage job and miserable. They failed to live up to their best in life and was jealous of their own daughter. Pitiful.

I would have thought so, too - to make sure that it is used for what it’s meant to be used for - to pay for the course - not for parents to treat as extra income for the house or whatever! Parents should never have access to their offspring’s account, whatever the age - they should be able to pay money in as often as necessary - but should never be allowed to draw money out! Even if Emily did open an account in her name and her name only - or in a fake name - I wouldn’t put it past the parents to access it anyway - or try to, somehow - maybe get the PIN (or the American equivalent) for the ATM card and draw it out - although some bank accounts have a drawing limit, so they can’t draw out thousands of (in this case) dollars in one go - with no overdraft facility, they couldn’t try and draw squillions of dollars from an account that only has a few cents in it - but that wouldn’t stop them trying - bank would realise that that bloke was never called Emily in a million years and deny access! As for Aunt Sarah - based on the parents’ beliefs, she’s not the BLACK sheep of the family - she’s the WHITE sheep of the family!
