I bet this guy doesn’t have near as much counseling as you think, if any. Counseling is pretty much a scam. People pay a bunch of money to go talk to someone who talks to 20 people a day. Then they give all the credit to therapy not realizing a lot of it is just natural growth and maturity. My life was a living hell growing up. Born addicted to dope with dope head parents, grew up bouncing around shitty group homes, shot, stabbed, locked up for 3 years, all before I was even 17. Now years later that I’m a father and business owner people that know my past always think counseling saved me. I saved myself. Just like most people could if they weren’t so easily brainwashed in to thinking there is only one traditional route to fixing an issue.
@oneoddduck7772 жыл бұрын
@@johnnycash2238 for some, that isn't the way it works. If I tell you to go build a table, but you don't recognize the tools, or how they function.....how are you going to accomplish it? You need to be taught how to use the tools to complete the mission. I'm glad that your independent path helped you, but that isn't true for everyone. Understand that you aren't the norm, and understand that what you are doing is not putting down therapeutic treatment....you are essentially putting down those who need it. Perception is everything. Not everyone is having your same life expierence. They do not have the same brain chemicals. They don't have the same coping skills.

I'm pretty sure that if I'd met him in the past while he was growing up in the small town getting tatted I would have for sure knew he didn't belong there! That his image was just that. I love "you can loose yourself in being a good person". I've been to Texas prison twice in my late teens (18-20), I was a heroin addict (full blown i.v.) by the time I was 14 years old. The first time I got on a methadone type program was when I was 16 I got on suboxone the year it became available as a methadone alternative smh. I've been clean 10 years but on methadone and I'm struggling and suffering everyday to get off of the methadone a little at a time (my highest dose was 240mgs daily now I'm down to 110mgs and it took years just to get here). It's so much harder to quit then heroin. Anyways I feel like I without a doubt lost myself in my early 20s when I was trying to completely do the opposite of anything I'd ever done up until that point. It worked for awhile but it wasnt me. I had to find a balance. I've always loved music and have taken guitar seriously since I was about 12 years old. I build guitars and guitar pedals now and I'm better as a musician than ever. I'd love to get clean from the methadone and be "for real clean" and start a business selling my guitar pedals and designing new circuits and building guitars every now and then. That way I can devote a few months or more to each guitar build just like I do when I'm building it for myself. Anyways, super relatable guy. Relatable for me lol, maybe not most people. In life being true to yourself and pleasing others is always a balance even for those of us who dont care what people think about us. There's always at least a few people in our lives we want to respect and be proud of us.

I’ve known quite a few people like Shane. If/when they turn their life around it’s so wonderful to see how they manage that after going so far down such a dark path. Despite everything I’ve been through in my own life, I honestly have never been to that dark of a place where I have to make a full 180 on my entire life and nearly everything I’ve ever known. For me it’s always been like I’m walking down a trail with a clear view of the path in front of me, then straying off the path for a while before I eventually make my way back to a clear path that isn’t leading to my own destruction. But, I’ve never been so far off the trail that I have to make a complete 180 to make my way back to a decent path. It must be incredibly difficult and I don’t know that I’d have the strength to do that, but then again I guess you never really know how capable you are until you’re in a situation like that. I know he has a pretty violent criminal past and I was close to going down that path for a while in my teens. Thankfully I realized that wasn’t the life for me pretty early on and was able to course correct on my own without getting caught up in the justice system. I got lucky though whereas not everyone does. Some people have to go down that dark path until they see no other way forward before they can finally turn their life around, so it’s always nice to see when someone manages to make it out the other side. Props to him and everyone else that manages that. I wish him and everyone else all the best.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard someone talk about their early/ not so great tattoos so eloquently. What a lovely soul 🖤

This guy has been my ultimate crush for ages! Just his humor, his rad love for LoTR, and his amazingly good nature and love for other peoples passions. Shane is literally perfect 🤩 His personality is just so attractive!

I can confidently say I think this man is one of the funniest dudes I've had the please of listening to. He has such a genuinely real person and I dig that. He is one of my favourite comedians and I think he's a really cool person. His self-awareness and attitude are magnetizing.

One of the funniest dudes ever!! I cry laughing every time I watch him. Shayne is the man!!

What I like about him. Is that you can tell he had a very hard childhood. When you actually suffer as a child you don't talk about it. We suffer in silence. But instead of giving into hate he made laughs and love. Gotta respect that.

I think the coolest thing about this is seeing that it confirms what I've said that you don't really regret most of your tattoos because they're a snapshot of who you were at the moment.

Shayne is such a cool vibe. I love the honesty in the way tattoo is about how we're attempting to control the narrative in the way we're perceived. Not for everyone obviously but there's always a risk

Shayne Smith is one of my absolute fave comedians. Watching this interview and hearing the story behind his tattoos made my year! He really is the whole enchilada. Good looking, smart, funny, great tattoos and a beautiful soul. If I was 20 years younger.....sigh..... #shaynesmith

Shayne is the best kind of people ❤ I, too have been a bad person, I’ve lost myself completely in trying to be a good person and now I’m getting to know the true me, a mixture of both. I appreciate his honesty, his humour and his perspective. ❤

I live in Utah and am pretty heavily tattooed, and for some reason I get mistaken for Shayne Smith all the time hahaha I was at fan x and people were asking for pictures and I didn't know why at first, then I just had it happen outside of a bar the other night. Pretty funny stuff.
