Hello, You have very good benefits! Last year my HSA insurance was $42 every two weeks. This year it is $74 every two weeks. UHC as well.

hi! whew! $84 to $148 per month is a hike! 😕 from some basic searches online, it seems that the least expensive i’ve seen is for the employer to pay for everything 🤷🏾♀️ and it definitely goes up from there (saw someone say they pay nearly $600 a month through their employer) thank you for sharing your numbers!!

I was actually recently second guessing my choice of having a Roth 401k because my I thinking my tax rate when I retire will be much lower than now. When I spoke with a financial advisor she said my choice was fine as we don't know what tax rates will be like in the future. Sometimes my desire to optimize becomes to much and makes me anxious but at the end of the day, I can't predict the future so I'm living with my choice for now. Btw sorry if I missed this but does your company have a match? If so, your co-worker is just leaving free money on the table.

hi! thanks for sharing your thoughts!! ya, i forgot about that part - tax rates will most likely increase long-term so paying the tax now may be a better choice for most people we don’t have a match! we have profit sharing, so everyone gets a cut of the profit regardless of whether we contribute to our 401ks, but great call out!! seriously, thank you! 🤍

omg I’ve never heard of them deciding they could change retirement age….like dang…i want to be able to retire when i want too and accesss my money when i want to…my target date is 2060

ya! full retirement age for social security was 65, but as of 2025 it’s been pushed to 67. i wouldn’t be surprised if by the time we are in our 60s, the full retirement age (full benefits) is 72+ .. especially as people are living longer and longer and social security runs out of money

Why are u paying for your own short term disability? Or is that for long term disability?
@mariahakinbiКүн бұрын
hi! that’s a fantastic question! i am under the impression that pregnancy/maternity leave (8-16 weeks paid) is under short-term disability. When I was first hired, employees can automatically enroll and be covered by short term disability. If employees wait, until annual benefits enrollment (or any time after that) to request short term disability, we can be denied based on our health at that time. so far i’ve paid ~$7000 for short-term disability. at this point, if i do maternity leave for more than one month, then i’ve already gotten my money’s worth from the insurance. the company pays for long-term disability i believe, i could be wrong and need to check.
