Casey, you sir are a STAR. Unfortunately I was working night shifts for the last two days of your superb ResolveCon, and you graciously putting up the Training Sessions on your Channel has meant a lot to me. Its a veritable gold mine of knowledge for hobbyists like me to dip into. And I've been following you for a good few years, when hardly anybody was helping to explain this behemoth of a beast called Davinci Resolve. I doubt if you will remember the "Off the Cuff" comment you made when I had the chance to watch Daria, with a five minute delay when I begged nobody to give any spoilers in the comments. Your humour was hilarious when you said "Wow Daria's head has just fallen off". Comedy gold. As for Darren, he never disappoints. And he left the last best tip for the very end of his lecture, when he suggested turning off "Make Broadcast Safe". I have had this button turned on for years at the suggestion of another KZbin "Big Player" but he didn't really why I should follow that advice. I just took it on faith. Darren has been very kind over the years offering his advice, on KZbin, and treats everybody with respect no matter their skill-set. He pitches his advice to the knowledge level of the person asking the question, rather that some people trying to show off and blind the questioner with information way above their skill-set.

I struggle to be able to see the whole tree on my Mac air M1. It’s pretty cool and I’ve been getting better results but it can be finicky to work with. Thanks for all your work Darren.

Love your node graph Darren thanks. Quick question please, where would you position a sky replacement node?

only thing that confused me a bit was the output colour space. Since I am super budget and grading on my mac display the best practice known is to set the output gamma to rec.709-a so you can see the most similar results both while grading and looking at the screen and on the different platforms across the web/phones/tablets and etc. So I tried using the output as gamma2.4 but as often happens the final result is darker and doesn't match when uploaded to YT, after the upload it gets washed, which doesn't happened when using rec.709-a. So should i stick to using the output gamma to rec.709-a or I should do other changes. Thanks in advance

Hi Casey, any chance of a video exposing how you did this conference? OBS? within Resolve cut page?

Having this node tree and grouping function used for CST camera particular Group pre clip CST IN based on camera to DWG In timeline level I set CST OUT as DWG to Deliverables. lets say you have different scenes and moods of grade. How you group them when you already group for camera based? In this case is better to use project level color managed?

I had no effects showing up in the colour page. And yes I was clicking on the effects tab on the top right. Then I changed pages to the edit page and it appeared when I clicked back on the colour page and selected it.

What does density actually do? I am little confused!!
@MrJemabaris5 күн бұрын
It's basically the attempt of a more filmic saturation. Digital imagery, being RGB, is additive in it's nature, where as film is subtractive. Highly saturated AND bright is something that's typical for digital video , which is usually not what we are going for when grading. So in short, density increases brightness while at the same time lowering the luminance/brightness.
