My Perfect Summer PALOMA with Fresh Grapefruit!

I drank palomas decades ago and didn't think anything of them-just squirt and tequila over ice in a salted-rim glass. There was certainly no reason to write a recipe. But that was before the paloma got a makeover and began being made with fresh grapefruit juice (not just grapefruit-flavored soda). This now-classic version is a thirst-quenching crowd-pleaser, especially during the warm months.

I was never really into Squirt until I moved to Arizona. Something about it makes it a perfect refreshing beverage during the Arizona heat. its just great.

First had a Paloma in the mid 90s when I was traveling around Mexico with my backpack...so simple: tequila, a couple key limes, ice and filled with Squirt! I thank that friendly Mexican fellow who introduced me to such a refreshing delight!

@@davidmckean955 In my mind, it refers to the drink Fresca which is good but does bring the drink towards a different direction. Try Squirt zero sugar next time, it makes the drink more bright. :)

I make a drink almost the same but instead of a simple syrup I make a simple rhubarb syrup with 4 cups of chopped rhubarb 1 cup of sugar and 2 cups of water , boil for 10 minutes and strain. Excellent bright flavor

Can't believe squirt is still around. Haven't seen it in Oklahoma since I was a kid. I use shaker with lots of ice, ocean spray grapefruit juice, lime juice, some cheap clear tequila topped off with sprite/7up or generic equivalent in brined glass.

fresh squeezed red grapefruit instead of simple sugar makes the drink less sweet and more intense also Squirt zero sugar because the next morning matters, lol

I’m planning on making this by the gallon (well…almost a gallon…126 oz) for a small party…I’m going to use this recipe and i think I’ve broken down the ingredients for an almost gallon as follows: 9oz lime juice, 9oz simple syrup, 18 oz grapefruit juice, 36 oz tequila and 54 oz of Squirt. I will pour the Paloma mixture over ice in a decorative crystal vessel with a spout.

Espolon is a decent mixing tequila, I highly recommended Fortaleza Tequila

that is a terrible idea telling people to mix Fortaleza, lol There are literally tons of other alternatives that are arguably better. My go to right now for this drink is Yeyo & a splash of Gran Dovejo high proof.

I think it was from the simple syrup. I recommend omitting that part in favor of more grapefruit instead. Fresh squeezed red grapefruit to be exact :)
