I used to have a 2005 all murdered out SXT and I miss it terribly. Used to be part of LX Forums and SOCal Magnums, but that ship has sailed. Went to a charger and now a Ram... gotta love the 5.7 Hemi! great work!

Reminds me of my car. My audio system is down as I need to do a lot of cable repair in the hatch on the Amps and change the plastic shift lock mech to a steel one that I purchased. Body mods are very minimal. Crappy aftermarket projector black headlights with the internal projectors replaced with those of a Honda S2000, PHILIPS Xenon X-TremeVision Gen2 D2S bulbs, Denso ballasts, Morimoto Led fogs, LED tails are all I can remember for external changes. The interior had all lights replaced with LED lights, even dash and cluster bulbs were all desoldered and changed to LED. The Engine is the 5.7 hemi with Inertia Big valve Head which is ported and has proper pressed in valve seats(These engines are very know to drop valve seats and destroy engines), Inertia Spartan Plus Cam, some magnaflo clone exhaust from the mid pipes, 6.1 lifters, 6.1 header and mid pipe. Car is tuned and makes 376 HP to the wheels and 405 TQ. Those numbers are higher than stock SRT8 wheel HP from what I hear. I absolutely love the sound it makes and power is fun. If you see my video, I had the car built to pass California smog when I got it built, They have since made stupid changes which made it illegal to smog.......

Got my first magnum way back . had saved some extra cash to finally get one and it was a 2.7 of course 😄. Shit was slow as hell but i loved that car.. even though it overheat most of the time i drove it. I was riding that thing to the very end before it had blown head gasket. Sad day and back to driving my old reliable camry. Saved up again then later got myself a 05 magnum 5.7 hemi😁. Fun to drive coming from a 2.7 engine. Got it straight piped so u know my neighbor's love me. But later on after so many parts that i replaced and issues that is a pain to even fix like the front end and suspension.. i kinda stopped spending money on it and just bought me a highlander. Saves me money on gas and repairs. Still gonna fix the magnum up one of these days.. but now that gas prices a ridiculously high, its gonna have to wait and stay in my driveway for a while. Dope ride.. gotta love em.👍✌️

Bilsteins would be replacement struts, even on the RT. SRT8s had a different steering knuckle which is taller, and different struts too, and basically all of the suspension parts are at least upgraded from RT. Better bushings, heavier duty arms, etc. RTs with the performed handling package also got better suspension parts and bigger rotors, and as far as other parts, the jury is out, but some say better front and rear hub bearings, better calipers, and some of the SRT8 suspension parts, but not the taller front knuckles, AKA spindles. Nice car.

The driveline losses were surprisingly minimal on the LX cars. They made 290+ at the wheels and I think 370 ft/lbs at the wheels. But 400 horsepower with a cold cold air intake and “sparks”? What are sparks? Spark plugs won’t gain you anything more than maybe 5hp, unless comparing to ones that are trash. But no aftermarket spark plug alone will gain any HP. Of you get 5HP it’s most likely for another reason, maybe plug gap, position of the electrode in the chamber after tightening, which is really by luck anyway. And CAIs, well, they’ve been tested, and I think the biggest gains were maybe 20hp and even that was near redline with some LOSES at lower RPMs. They work, but work best before the engine gets hot, so when it’s still cool, you WILL feel a difference. But to REALLY work, they need to be true COLD AIR INTAKES. Meaning no HOT air from the engine compartment. So how do you do that when the only opening is on top, exposed to the engine compartment? HMMMM. Maybe the manufacturers should have thought about that before ripping everyone off. The cone filters do actually make more power that the flat OEM filters though, but sealing out hot air and only allowing air from outside the engine compartment would yield some actual real world gains. But 400 horsepower from a CAI and “sparks”? Dreams are nice. Wake up and they’re gone.
