I miss my Squirrel. I had found him when I was homeless couldn't have been anymore than 6 or seven weeks old. I had guessed his mother had passed. Being the Homeless hippie I was, and being I ha built a fire, he came up for warmth to it, and we stared at each other for about 20 minutes before It came to me to open my coat. He'd steal anything shiny. He was really playful. And he was the bestest little friend I ever had. RIP Bobby the Squirrel. You chubby little guy you.

Hi, I also have a pet squirrel named Twitch. Your story sounds very similar to mine. Except I think she fell or was nudged out of her nest in the tree. She also had fur and her eyes were open. She was very dehydrated when my son found her, so I got a dropper and managed to get a few drops of water to her. I researched online and found out about the canned puppy milk and that worked great for her. I have rescued three baby possums with great results, but this was my first experience with a squirrel. She is now approx. 6 1/2 years old. She has our entire screened in (plus chicken wire) back porch as her home. With all the amenities. She goes outside with me and plays in the trees and even plays with other squirrels. When it's time to come back, I call her, and she jumps on my shoulder to go in. She is an amazing little creature and I love her so much. She has brought a lot of joy and fun into my life. I wish you all the luck with your pet squirrel, Sandy!!!

She has always come back to me when I call her. If she didn't, that would be her choice not to and I would respect that. She has chosen to spend her almost 7 years, coming up in Sept., with me. And, I am very fortunate that she has. She is an amazing and loving little animal!

I like squirrels in the wild and watch them when I can. I am from West VIRGINIA and used to go hunting them haven't had time for years now used to can them and fry them up like chicken! Delicious with mashed potatoes and peas. This makes me hungry. Gonna go for supper now.

She's only a 2-3 weeks old and another male squirrel is around 5-6 weeks old. (animal rescue, feeding them for release) and they are both feel incredibly soft, very soft hair, I thought they would be rough hair. Very soft temperaments, curious too. Out of all animals, I've found squirrels I've become attached too, which I really don't want to! However it's impossible, how they snuggle into you and bound :(

I have a 4 month old baby squirrel named Luna Bea. She's the 6th one I've raised from days old to maturity and released. Luna is unreleasable, & is happy as a lark. She has free range in the house as long as I'm present. She's been such a joy and has brought countless hours of humor to our lives. While I don't recommend having a squirrel for a pet unless you are very familiar with raising wild animals, I'm a retired Vet Tech of 17+ years experience. Squirrels are quite a chore on a daily basis regardless of how well you feel that day. I love your baby and commend you on raising her and keeping her healthy and very happy. Kudos fellow squirrel lover. ❤️🐿❤️

Hi Sandy, I raised a little one just like this and he would wake me up promptly at 5:30am every morning to play. He would sit in front of my face on the pillow and lightly scratch or caress my nose until my eyes opened. If I don't concede he continues to do this until i turn on the light whereby he would go nuts jumping hopping and rolling around with my hand for about 20 minutes. Then conk out, I turn off the light at 5:50am and sleep until 7:30 to wake up for work.

Stop and leave when he bites you, then come back later and caress him again. That way you're training him not to be aggressive. All my animals don't bite me, it's really bad to have bruises and makes relationships not so good.

Jeffrey Baughman I know squirrels that don't bite, so you guys probably have never done this or never knew anyone who did. No animal will bite you if you respect and don't provoke it. Don't fight with your animals, only caress them in a way that they like. It can even be considered a mild form of abuse to be annoying an animal to the point that it bites you. I have wild animals that used to bite me when I got them, took a few months for them to stop, now not one of them ever bites me. You just leave when they bite you, come back and caress them in the way that they like, not in any way that they don't like. Respect them. They will never bite you again and you both will be happier.

Thats very cool that you have her little nesting blanket NOT in a cage. I cant stand seeing squirrels in cages. They're too active and smart for a life in prison...plus many people dont know that if u raise a squirrel u have a friend for life. Mine lived in the tree out front but hung with me all day. As long as u feed them and play with them, they will not only come to u when u call them, but they dont ever wanna leave you! Not even for another human. They always want to be near u or on u. I just rescued a 5 week old squirrel a few days ago, luckily i have quite alot of animals and expirence with them. Shes doing great and loves to play and sleep so cute!☆ When we found her she wasn't shy or scared at all, before we brought her in, she'd come up to us whenever we went out. She still has another sibiling or 2 still in the tree, but they are a little more shy than her, hopefully we can rescue them as well.

I remember when Sonic was like that I think of her as my daughter the lil spoiled princess she was younger than yours still had closed eyes my dad found her on the road on a windy day coming home and brought her to me and actually they can live up to 20 yrs in captivity and 12 in the wild

we had a Western Gray squirrel (actually, might have been an Eastern Gray, as they are migrating West and taking over habitat of the Western gray, but I digress . . . . ) . same thing; found as a baby who fell out of the nest. we had him about 3 months, but he eventually started going outside, and coming back, daily, then less than daily, then never coming back. he was the cutest thing ever. loved avacado!
