My Peugeot 308 SW Modding Experience - Installing an Android Headunit / Radio

I forgot to show my canbus settings in the video, which handles the controls for the climate and steering wheel buttons etc. This is actually what took most of the additional hours I mentioned in the video, as I had to go through many different options and talk to the seller for advice. After it started working, I just left all the options alone and never touched them again. So currently mine is set to 'RZC(Raise) > Citroen/Peugeot > 308 > 2016', but you may have a different canbus to mine - so definitely check your manual, or talk to the seller, it was quite easy to resolve eventually - just took longer than I hoped.

Thanks for this. Going to do this on my wife's car. The usb cable at the end is for different factory installs. I have both harnesses. One comes with one of them and the other harness comes with the other. That's for the orange dab hint. I will be using one of the usbs to power the dab and adapter I have to install the fakra to sma. It's a FYT unit. The market is full of different ones. I'm putting a topway one in mine

You're welcome! Thanks for your input as well. I assumed as much that the cables were for different factory installs - just seems odd that my car had both factory connections available lol. Either way, best of luck with installing it into your wife's car! Mine is still going strong to this date and loving every time I use it.

@@BenGough it's in but I'm struggling to get the AC on screen buttons to actually work. Volume etc works just not this. Canbus is connected. Any ideas? What model did you pick?

@@hal752 Ah I knew I forgot to include something in the video. Here's the thing - getting the climate control button to even show was actually what took up most of the additional hours I mentioned in the video. Eventually it just started showing out of nowhere after I went through all the models like 3 times. After it miraculously started working, I just left the canbus settings and never touched them again in fear of it breaking 😂 The fact that your climate controls are showing but not working suggests a different issue which I would have very little knowledge with. I know you said your volume works, but I'm not sure if you meant on the steering wheel or elsewhere, so definitely check to see if the volume works on the steering wheel as this is handled by the canbus too. Also make sure you have plugged in the cable that I am plugging out at 5:37, as the climate controls won't work at all with this plugged out. For me, the canbus is currently set to 'RZC(Raise) > Citroen/Peugeot > 308 > 2016'. Your canbus may be different to mine though, so RZC(Raise) may not be the right option for you. Definitely check your manual because this is what told me which option to select depending on the photo of which canbus I had. Honestly as much as I wish I could help, I can only suggest going through all the models until you find one that works. If it helps, I also tried the 408 options as the 408 is supposedly the same as the 308 in China. Best of luck and keep me updated!

@@BenGough I wrote that while was fitting it. Turned out I hadn't plugged in the the front panel. Must be something within that which feeds it data on AC. All working now. mine is also a Raise and set the 2016 308. As with any android headunit takes time to fully understand. Noticed the dash lost the speed limit of the road when driving. Did yours? I also get a zone not mapped however found a option in car settings however wasnt able to get rid.

@@hal752 Glad the climate controls are now working for you! Yes, the speed sign is always showing dashes for me now. I assume the speed sign data was pulled from the map software on the stock radio because it hardly ever showed speed signs on the roads I drove on anyway, usally only when I was on a motorway. I prefer using Waze for speed signs anyway! Of course it would be great if some app or trick existed where you could transfer the speed sign data across to the speed sign on the dashboard, but Google isn't showing any relevant results for 'peugeot 308 android speed sign' so I would assume it doesn't exist and anything related to such is hardly discussed. To my knowledge, the 'zone not mapped' message is related to the stock radio's map software, so for this to pop up with the Android headunit plugged in is very bizarre. This is just a wild guess, but do you still have anything plugged into the multimedia box (the silver box @ 6:41)? This would be my only guess as to why the dashboard is showing this message as the multimedia box may still be active in some way if you have anything plugged into it (I've actually taken mine out completely and stored it away for safe keeping). Although you also mention that a setting related to this exists on the Android headunit? I don't have access to my car until tonight to look for this, but best ask the seller for help anyway, or on XDA Forums.

I haven't really touched the canbus settings to be honest. I can see settings for 'running daytime LEDs' and such, but as everything in the car has been configured to my satisfaction before the aftermarket headunit install, I have had no reason to touch the settings now.

@@mixiherb6086 Unfortunately I do not have a specific link as it is no longer available, but there are many variants online (eBay/Amazon/AliExpress - search for 'Peugeot 308 android headunit'). The model is M700S, 8GB RAM 128GB storage and 8 core.
