my smallest gilt delivered 8 piglets and the biggest one was having a very big stomach. I was hoping for 10 or 12 piglets but it gave me 6. now she is pregnant again and her tommy is not that big, am hoping that it would give me plenty but i dey expect another shock

The reason is,the boar used in servicing the glit/sow..if the boar is quite young,tendency of getting low numbers of piglet is high,due to low potency of the sperm,compared to very matured boar who are above a year old...another factor is know the right time to service your female while on heat,it is better to service the female on the 2nd and 3rd of heat,when heat is readily shown,in situation,the glit hormones are quite very active,and extremely fertile to receive sperm for more production of piglets
