I would put wooden post on each corner because the pigs will tear on a fence and both sides of the gate also the fence is called field fence and it needs to be tightened (stretched) with a fence stretcher, I butcher and process my pigs on the farm for my own family, but when you need to load them on the trailer back the trailer up for a week or so and start feeding them in the trailer. Great video though. Happy thanksgiving from my family to yours

This is a very informative video. We are thinking of starting our own. We live in Southern Missouri. Thanks for the video.

Love what your doing. Like you we've been raising pigs for 4 years, as we too are from central Wisconsin. We are raising IPP's, but next year switching to. Berkshire. Great video, keep them coming.

I was looking at raising IPPs, what is your reasons for switching breeds?
@williamgreen68895 ай бұрын
@@0wiseonejust looking for something different to raise. The IPP's are delicious and have a very friendly demeanor. But they do root too. The Berkshire pigs have the same qualities. We'll give them a try.

Another thing is there weight gain wasn't consistent, same feed different years, different results. Hard to keep buyers with such weight fluctuations. One year 300 lbs, next year 200lbs live weight. It's time to move on.

So we are raising 2 pigs for the freezer. First time for pigs. We purchase hog feed pellets. We also get produce from the local market. We were told they were approx 30 lbs when we got them on May 4th. They are mixed breed (Hamp, Yorkshire & Duroc). We measured our smaller pig at 133 lbs. Guessing the other to be 175. Question. Are we on track for their weight? Approx how long does it take for them to make weight if they started out at 30 lbs.

@candyarthur8568 We use this guide, with "days to show" being the number of days until butcher. Breed and feed will change your estimate, but it's a good place to start. gunnison.extension.colostate.edu/wp-content/uploads/sites/21/2019/04/porkulator.pdf
