My Pile of Shame Revealed

A major part of the hobby is the anticipation of painting these models, dreaming of the paint schemes of armies and playing the game. That 'pile of shame' as you label it has given you joy when you bought it, dreams of what the models will be like and the luxury of choice to paint what you want when you want it. In short, the enjoyment of ownership and the investment of anticipation is just as important as a shelf of painted models. Don't feel guilty for investing in what makes you happy. This is all part of the hobby.

Runewars is actually a really fun game! The way the initiative system works leaves you constantly what actions your opponent is going to queue up for each unit and it’s so much fun when your opponent surprises you. Against the right opponent, the game is constantly filled with “Ah ha!” moments. Definitely worth a play!

Have a good sized pile (not as big as this), but they’re all specific boxes that when put together complete playable 2k point armies. Personally I couldn’t get bits and pieces of lots of different games/factions without a planned out list first.

As a dad of 2 kids I know how you feel. My son is into them, but is only 8, so it's hard to work at his pace when we get time. I look at it as emergency rainy weather entertainment!

"In the queue" no idea what that means... if it isnt primed and on my painting desk its a 'for later' project. You are a mom with 3 kids.. the fact that your pile of shame is that size is an indication that your priorities are correct and that you are a good mom. Like the video, thanks for sharing.

I have the same IKEA Cabinets with the glad doors. I really like that they keep dust out but it is unfortunate that some models will be hidden behind center where the doors meet

The Runewars minis are great value for what you get! I haven't played the game, but I use the models all over various armies for other games.

I got my 3rd bedroom stacked from floor to ceiling(almost) with board games. The loft(attic) is rammed too and probably half are still in shrinkwrap 🤪

Man, this is wild to me. You’re easily set for a decade if you plan to have everything painted. I try to stay on top of my grey. But I still have models from my very first set that are still waiting to be painted. Oh well, slowly but surely. Gods speed haha

The game and channel push my painting. If I have a tournament, I will paint an entire army, or if we a to review a new book or models, I get the painting done. Without those things, I'd paint random models for different armies and get nothing done. lol.

Holy moley.. all that Underworlds stuff, and all those bygone warbands.. damn. Me and my girl REALLY started playing on Direchasm and we have been having a blast with all the core sets ever since (Nethermaze and Gnarlwood are AMAZING). It's our favorite board game by a mile (we don't play any of those war games)

And I also don't see the pile of gray plastic in my closet as a source of shame... except maybe for the Conquest Apex Predator and Queen I won from your giveaway, I really want to paint those but I feel a little intimidated (I don't feel like I'm a good enough painter, I suppose that is my issue). Ah, and I have a problem with Underworlds, I am collecting all of it, and I'm still missing 10 warbands 😢
