Thank you so much for this video, you have explained so much that I have not been able to get elsewhere, such as getting an advocate and tips on how to answer questions that truly reflect the effects of doing an activity. You are most certainly awesome.

Hi there good luck with your PIP application. From what you are saying you deserve it. Yes it can help with extra costs and as well PIP can in some cases add more security to help a person be more flexible with their life. I understand from a past video you had to give up your job. I am diagnosed neurodivergent and have had to give up work myself. I have thought about applying for PIP myself but not sure I need it yet but you certainly deserve it. Yes it can be stressful and trying to explain ones situation can be distorted in ridiculous ways in order to refuse it for people. Go for it! And go for it again if needed! You deserve the security and stability it can bring.

Thank you, it’s very good to hear these things validated by other people. It’s easy to give up fighting thinking it’ll be easier but I know it’ll be easier for me in the long run if I continue to fight for it

Going through my big ol' Word document and changing any "yes, but" to "no, because" :D Thank you for this! I have a week left to submit it all, so here's hoping I've done enough.

Hi. Applying for pip. Finding all the paperwork and reading research. Just far to much. As I have poor concentration. Telephone assessment on the 5th May. Its just to much really.

I have my PIP assessment this Wednesday for my mental health with PTSD, and other anxiety disorders, including depression, and paranoid episodes. It will be a telephone assessment, but I’m worried my assessor will trigger my anxiety, and I will end up rambling all the time, unable to stop for a breather, and something I say will be misconstrued and I’ll get 0 points. 🙏🏻🕊

Tell them how you're feeling and that you ramble when you're anxiety is bad. Explain to them how things affect you on your worse days. I hope it all goes well for you

@@oneawesomeautistic6342 thank you for you’re kind advice. A charity helped me with sending off my form, and I filled out as much as I could, in great detail, using examples of how it affects me, submitting that with medical evidence to back it up. The charity also wrote a letter on my behalf to say they helped me with my form. I’m just worried, when I’m on the phone, I’ll forget what to say. Luckily, I have my PIP form on my computer, because DWP allowed me to type it, and I sent it off to the charity by email. So, when the assessor mentions preparing a meal, for example, I’ll click on it, and hope it jogs my memory. But I’m sure whatever I say they will twist my words. Also, I want to record the conversation, but do I need to ask their permission to do that?
@oneawesomeautistic6342

@@lg_believe333 I don't think you need their permission to record but you need to let them know you will be recording it as they are legally entitled to have a copy. It's great that you had help from a charity, hopefully that helps your case. It doesn't matter if you forget things as memory issues is a side affect of various mental health and neurological conditions. Each time you forget something and need to refer to your form verbalise it to them. Because the assessment is on the form they can only go by what they hear, mainly what you're saying, so verbalise everything they can't see. e.g if you need a stim toy to help with anxiety then say something like 'just one second, I am just grabbing my fidget toy to help me concentrate' or 'I just need to refer to the notes I wrote with help from the chairty'

@@oneawesomeautistic6342 because of my PTSD and Anxiety disorders I fidget a lot too. Picking my nails, or twiddling rubber bands, or a napkin. Or touching objects, with my fingers crossed, incase something bad happens, when I’m anxious due to OCD. Or holding onto, tightly, my door keys, perhaps, for security and reassurance. Or digging my fingernails into my skin, biting my tongue. I think we cope in different ways. I filled out the form to my best ability, under the circumstances. Luckily I received a text this morning from PIP, reminding me I have an appointment tomorrow at 2pm, but even though I was sent a text before, and a letter, for some reason I thought it was on Thursday and forgot it was tomorrow. Thank god they sent it, otherwise, I would of been totally unprepared or wouldn’t of been able to answer my phone if they called, not expecting PIP’s call. As for the charity, they’ve been very good, helping me, but I emailed them about being present on my phone call, but they haven’t replied yet. I know they’re busy, and maybe I should call them instead. But they close at 3pm from Mon to Fri. But the charity did say, if it goes to a mandatory reconsideration we will attend phone calls with you, and will help support you if it goes further, to a tribunal. I just thought, why couldn’t they be there for my first call, making me much more nervous without them being there, affecting my confidence.

@@lg_believe333 I can understand how you're feeling as I can imagine a lot of people applying for PIP go through a lot of the same things. You can only do your best with the phone assessment, hope for the best but prepare for the worst is probably the best thing to do. It would be much easier if the assessments were face to face and with someone from the charity present as I imagine that would get a much better outcome. If it ends up going through to tribunal then you're likely to get a better outcome as they seem to be more on the side of the person applying

Thank you for your video. This whole process is super scary, I got 2 points..then 2 points again. But I'm so worried about the next stage and thinking about just giving up at this point, but it's horrible it almost feels like they want you to give up.... :(

Don't give up, it's what this system hopes for. If you can get an advocate who knows they PIP system and all the right lingo (i.e someone from citizens advice or from the welfare department of your council if there is one) will make it very likely you will get something at the next stage. Typically advocates won't advise going to the next stage unless they are sure you are entitled to something and the tribunal is a lot more impartial

@@oneawesomeautistic6342 thank you for your words. I didn't get help for the first form, the mandatory reconsideration one the council people helped me. They told me to get In touch when they reject that.. I think I messed it up, did you find it hard to describe you? It's such an odd thing :/

@@oneawesomeautistic6342 thank you again for your videos and words, so they ended up rejecting the reconsideration and it went to the tribunal place (that doesn't look like its spelled right) The council people strongly suggested I go as it's better they see and speak to me, won't lie, it was a horrible experience and I know you too went through it, I'm not saying the people were not nice, they were, but it's alot of questions and then jusy being somewhere with people, so stressful but they sent me out after 10 minutes for a break, then said I don't need to come back in, they disagreed with dwp and awarded it, which would have felt good at the time, it didn't, I was so stressed and felt sick and had a headache for days after. I think I wrote too much, my point was thank you, you have probably helped alot of people with your videos and kind words, it is appreciated 😊

@@whatwhenwherehere You haven't written too much at all, it is good for other people to see more and more experiences, especially those with a 'win'. I am sorry it was a horrible experience for you but it is over with for now at least and you should get a back payment from the day you first applied for it (mine was over 3 years worth so it was a nice hefty sum)
