May is such a fun time for the sewing community because we get an opportunity to show some love for our me-made wardrobe. This May, I want to shine the light on some older me-mades and RTW garments that need a little TLC. I'll be talking through what I'm planning for my sewing in the Month of May, so follow along if you want to see my weekly updates.
Find out more about Me-Made-May from the creator, Zoe Edwards:

I am usually surprised by how much faster those little repairs are when I sit down and do them in comparison to my dreading and putting off the repairs. Definitely not my favorite sewing task, but necessary.

You're so right! I think those quick wins will be really satisfying. The total refashions are a bit more of a challenge, though.

I've just started using instagram for my sewing journey - sewsuemac - and watching this video reminded me of Me Made May, so thank you for the nudge. I think I will try to wear/use at least one me-made thing everyday during May, and to update instagram every day. I actually like mending and altering things, and love the fact that this is usually easier if you made the garment in the first place. Thanks for taking the time to make the videos, I look forward to them.

This will be the first time I've properly refashioned any RTW clothes, though hemming skirts/trousers was my first experience with sewing. I think I've found you on Instagram, and I look forward to seeing what beautiful things you've got in your handmade wardrobe!

Great plan! Like you, I’ve got my mending/refashioning pile to get through, and I’m going to completely empty my wardrobe to see what’s hiding in there. This year I found two pairs of trousers that I thought didn’t fit me and they are perfectly fine!

It's amazing what we don't even realize we have! I hope you find more hidden gems and make some good progress on your "to-do" pile.

My pledge for MeMadeMay this year is to actually pictorially document my me made outfits. I'm not very good at taking selfies at the best of times but to document me wearing what I make is predominantly what I pledge to do. I do plan to make things along the way through the month as we are entering the winter season here in Australia and I just don't have alot of things that are warm and that I would eat the house in. And as I am purposefully fluctuating my body size down the scale, I will need to replenish as I go anyhow and that will leave way for doing something similar to what you are doing and repurposing the clothes that no longer fit my body. I'm not a fan of repurposing or fixing/ altering either but if it means longevity to the garment then I'm willing to give that a go NEXT May! As by that time I should think that there will be quite the pile. I like your plan. I sounds doable and will be worth the effort and a bit more fun that last year's pledge as you are allowing yourself to make new things also. I have a private account on instagram under the same handle as KZbin (but I'm not videoing on KZbin). Feel free to send me a request and I'll be happy to add you in on the month's adventure xx

I've requested a follow on IG and look forward to seeing your beautiful me-mades this month! It's so hard when our bodies change and we can no longer wear the things we've made. I hope you can find ways to make them work. Good luck for the coming month (and year!).

Your refashioning progress last year inspired me to do something similar this year! I've picked ten to take on for the month, but I'm not not making new things this month.

I've got a couple of items in my wardrobe that I want to morph into something else. So I feel very inspired since watching your vlog Theresa. I'm not doing me made May on Instagram but my sister and I are going to exchange photos each day wearing me made outfits instead. Good luck with all your plans and I'll look forward to seeing how you get on.😊

That's such a nice way to take part in me-made-May! It's really meant to be a personal thing for you. I love that you and your sister can make it for the two of you! Good luck on the refashions. I still find them pretty intimidating, so this month is definitely out of my comfort zone. I hope yours turn out beautifully!

I find posting on Instagram hard and cumbersome so I don't post there. Maybe it's just me. I have mostly a me made wardrobe except for some pants and jeans. I have some remakes I need to get done and some hemming on new garments ( I have to do multiple thread changes in my coverstitch.) You have great ideas.

I didn't think it's just you, Glenda. I like Instagram as a photo documentation of my sewing and as a reference for anyone wanting to sew the same garment. It's work, but I find it worthwhile. I absolutely understand why other people wouldn't agree! Good luck on your projects!

I have a couple fixes I need to do on clothes I love to wear in the summer - they've been sitting and waiting for repair since their last wear last fall. I think I also want to pledge to sew a little bit each day - I tend to go in all or nothing bursts, and sometimes end up sewing late into the night when I need to go to work in the morning 😅

Good one! I did that a few years ago. It was surprising how much time you can find when you sew little and often. Wishing you a satisfying month ahead!

Hey there! I’m going crazy with anticipation….like reading a mystery then finding the last chapter is torn out!! Will you help me find the part 4 of the clash of the trousers? I’m getting ready to try some in stretch denim and really want to have the least stressful and best results possible thanks 😊!!
