I am so glad you are back. I get so much from your audio podcasts and YT videos. Because of you, I started podcasting and editing/mixing podcasts for others. We have similar philosophies regarding audio. I picked up the Ultimate Guide to Equalization for Podcasting, Voiceover, and Film (BUNDLE) because supporting you is essential. I also can’t stand mouth clicks, and I use that RX plugin for EVERYONE! Your vocal always sounds fantastic. My vocal -overkill- chain: Telefunken TF11 FET > Avalon V5 > EL8 Distressor (Opto Mode w/Dist 2 + HPF) > Focusrite Sapphire Pro 40 > Cubase 11 Pro - It makes my vocal so silky smooth, and it makes me happy!

I always think they’re trash. It’s like the trope of hating the sound of your own voice, but I always hate how I EQ my own voice haha. Your signal chain is such a dream. Just today I was experimenting with the Kiive Distressor plug-in on my voice as I’ve always dreamed of owning an EL8x and wondered how it did on vocals. I’d LOVE to hear your recordings. i'm so glad you showed phase rotation in RX audio editor itself. this has been the only thing i wanted to add to my chain. always thought that i needed RX standard or advance to do this, but after seeing this and checking myself, i realize that rx elements (what i have) also has this. so happy about this

Super cool video, and such an awesome studio, but you might want to check the order on your rx chain. Izotope has some useful tutorials on signal chain. Specifically using a HPF EQ first makes deplosive less reliable, and de clipping is generally an earlier step, if not first step. Not to second guess your flow, just something I’ve stumbled onto.

I appreciate the info! The eq>de-plosive stuff makes a lot of sense. I haven’t noticed any issues with it but I’ll switch it around either way!

what are these tutorials? when looking this up, i find only music related signal flow related topics, regarding reverb, busses, sends, etc. but i guess you mean something specific to RX? where to find this?

Your audio is good but it doesn't have a signature sound it doesn't punch.
