I have only started to collect the odd cactus this year, that I like the looks of, but none of my choices, will be any with thorns, LOL Don't like getting poked by thorns. I have a lot of Thanksgiving Cactus, and Easter Cactus, 3 different kinds of Jade plants, One lonely Air Plant, hope to add more. A moonshine Snake plant, and the only 2 plants with thorns, A White Crown of Thorns, and a Hybrid Crown of thorns, plus a miniature anthurium, I have 18 Hoya Carnosa Compacta. 16 Are babies I rescued from a nursery. Plus 2 different coloured oxalis plants. Then I am hoping to get the variegated Hoya Carnosa Compacta, an inner variegated and an outer variegated. Then a Desert Rose Plant are in my wishlist. I guess I like a little of this and a little of that, type plants. I hope to get a Jellybean Plant this week, I think they re very cute, remind me of Bubble wrap. lol So we each have very different collections, but I just do not have room for a Large amount of plants like you do. Your's are lovely, have you ever counted them all? Would be interesting. My Plants cannot go out in the summer, as we live in Alberta Canada, and can get some bad Thunderstorm's, heavy winds at times, and sometimes hail. So I enjoy mine in the house, which isn't very large. First time I have seen your collection, it's stunning.

they all looking very well, it really don't take long to start to fatten up. i feel the extra light this year you going to see a difference. if you using a camera interchangeable lens the Macro Extension tubes are really good, the smallest one will be all you need because it moves lens out slightly from the censor but not too far so you see have you focus out a bit to normal as well but may help you focus that bit closer, bigger the tube focus can get crazy like will only focus if thing inside the lens focus so close. don't know how well it work for making vid tho it may work if you use the smallest one so it sill have a focus range in the normal area too just an idea and they very cheap to buy. the cacti at 4:04 wow you are going to have a fun time potting that one up with hooked spines, lopve to see you you manage that one as hooked spines can be a nightmare and this ones big so heavy. happy to see your collections doing great

@@desertplantsofavalon the extra light they sure notice that. sounds a bit nightmare potting up those two and weight of them don't help. The Macro Extension tubes they just spacers more you add on the further the lens and sensor are apart the closer you can focus but there is a limit like i mention last comment where closest and furthest focus is in side the lens but as they come in a kit three different sizes using the smallest will move the focus a tad closer but you lose i little bit distance so the furthest things away you may not be able to focus so its an idea what may just work but don't hold me on that but distances you rec in most time longest is length Polly tunnel but most is less than few meters so that the reason i mentioned it the smallest one maybe quite useful as you focus closer but still have some 2/3 normal closer focus range maybe a tad more than 2/3. but the very least you can use it on any lens to get even closer. they may take a little practice but you soon understand what works and not, i have macro lens and can already do 2:1 add an extension tube even small bugs i can fill the whole picture and even on a long lens they normally not great close up as min focus can be a meter away but add tube they can be useful in loads ways. thought i mention it as it may just work for your vids using smallest one and if not it help you get closer with taking images. not every time i want to take out macro lens but they just hollow tubes very light weight so instead taking out loads lenses i can take out normal 28-75mm and long lens 70-300 it covers all and if i want macro i got the tubes so its just another way to keep weight down as camera bag already weighs a lot so if take out some glass it a bonus

another solution if smallest is to much maybe an adapter and reverse adapter so as example Nikon to cannon and cannot back to Nikon but it only work if you need a smaller tube as some adaptions are huge so depends on brands of camera but might be another option too. both pretty cheap the extension tubes i paid think it was around £10-15 as i went for ones electric connections but in hindsight i never use auto in macro just manual focus so you can get them cheaper, and adapters you can get them as little as few £ but you always will need two one to change to another brand then one from the different brand back to your camera brand. had mine for years and they sure been useful

It looks like you have everything headed on the right path. What percentage of your inside/greenhouse plants are under pH control?

Thanks so much bill :-D I have a little pH tester metre that I stick into the pots every few weeks to test their soil pH, thankfully the soil stays around the pH 6 for nearly all of them, our tap water is very soft at 5.5pH which is good, at our old house in the south of Ireland our water was very hard and was pH8.5-9, I had to use rainwater, I have to keep an eye on the pH on the cacti in the very big pots that haven't have their soil changed in a few years as I notice the pH can start to go up to pH7 or higher over time, I notice some cacti like my Gymnocalyciums can stop growing if the pH gets over pH7, thanks so much Bill for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a fantastic new week XXXX

Thanks. Rain water is out of the question for me. I have chemically used a mid to upper 5.- pH number in all plant water since I started the hobby. I was just curious to what it was like there.

@@michellechapman6839 Hi Michelle :-D I would definitely start it up with a watering now as a watering should help to kick start it growing again, from Spring until Fall they like to be watered every time the soil has dried out in their pots, I find some of my Rebutia can be a bit slow to take off until they have had a couple of waterings in the spring XXXX
