I love how you say embarrassing! You know what’s embarrassing though? How often I have to rewatch these to actually learn what you’re teaching me. Thank you Omar.

The thing I love about you is your 'practical' approach vs. the expensive "pro-equipment". Nothing to be embarrassed about. It is unfortunate that a huge number of photographers consider the latter to be a 'requirement' if you want to be "professional". Thanks Omar! I always look forward to you and your content, you make me smile!

So true about not skimping on light stands. The cheap ones will cost half as much, but you'll have to buy them twice because they will break pretty quickly-hopefully not in the middle of a client shoot!

I'll add myself to the number of other thank you's out there. I'm starting out and while I do have a budget, I'm also not interested in breaking the bank right off the bat nor do I think it to be a requirement to get quality results. Your practical advice is so helpful and the videos are entertaining

Great vid Omar. Was thinking about getting a 47” diffuser. I use umbrellas too, cheapy ones, they work well. I get embarrassed that i dont have a bigger rig, but on the go this portable kit is perfect. Thanks dude, i feel justified, exonerated and liberated!! Lol! More of this please, so we can all be embarrassed together ❤️🤗

Oh man...i have a similar setup. I use to use my tripod like for how the legs folded up.....but then did savage dropstands and got hooked. They are literally designed for run and gun moments for my mitzvah work lol
@jackyl1105 жыл бұрын
I think a S-Type bracket could help to get your flash closer to the softbox umbrella. So you can tilt down your light without being restricted by the opening.

The Paul C Buff 'Baby Boomer' mini boom arm also works and is lighter/less expensive than using a grip head/arm setup.

Omar, thank you so much for making this video. I just bought a godox 685 and a trigger and was debating on what tripod and soft box I need. When I see your photos on Instagram I am so impressed of the quality. Great video! Side note: I have an idea for a video. Using the Q button for back button focus on the x-T30.

Great! Wanna see more of those tipps. I usually (ok since last year i take pictures seldomly) use the Godox mini-flashes with a portable beauty-dish.

Another great video Omar. Just goes to show you, that you don't need expensive gear to get the shot you want. If its light, Portable and gives the desired effect then you cant ask for more. But I guess that goes for all camera equipment. A lot of photography folk can be restrained by their budget. The equipment is only half the battle, the other is your own photography experience, knowledge and a willing to experiment with your own ideas. Thanks again Omar and can I wish you and your family a great Christmas and a fab New Year. Please keep your videos coming. Cheers Steve

Great review as usual Omar. Informative and funny at the same time. Tip: I have the 5001b stand, but also a Matthews Reverse Stand. Same design and setup, with only a slightly larger profile, but it’s MUCH more stable and robust.

Could you please show a bat/r mitzvah session and how you position the lighting? I would loooove to see that! Your photos are awesome. I've been asked to do some photos in synagogue and I really would love the training.

I think that Neewer there is a Westcott Apollo Orb knockoff. I wonder if the OG modifier would hold up a bit better. Good vid. This makes me want to play with and see the difference between feathering a softbox like this vs a deep umbrella with diffuser (my go-to since it's even easier to set up 😎).
@thisisfrankie5 жыл бұрын
If you push the umbrella to go further inside the bracket you can actually tilt the umbrella. The flash will be closer to the reflector but you'll be alright.
@iwantsquareballoons4 жыл бұрын
i also use cheap setup most of the time, even manfrotto stands are too expensive for me 😅 #muhownmoney

This is amazing! Thank you! One question tho is there any benefit in going with a smaller Softbox? Like maybe to concentrate the light better? Also is an umbrella better for outdoor photography? Sorry that's more than one question 😂

Interesting video. Im guessing there is not other way to do this kind of photogrphy and portraits. I am learning with fuji x30 and its got inbuilt flash but probably not strong and good enough for this. Thanks, points taken.
@videoyoplait5 жыл бұрын
Have you tried the Godox S-type mount? It will center the speedlight in the middle of the umbrella albeit it is bigger than what you currently use...though you probably know that already. :)

I spent $120 on two AlienBees, $6 on a white sheet... and have made $9000 with them just as a "I'll take 10 nice portraits of you in 1 hour." It's ridiculous.
@williamday2601 Жыл бұрын
You could tilt by adding a boom arm.
@paristo Жыл бұрын
Just tilt by placing a one leg above others and weight it down. The setup indoors is so light and no wind so you get away with slight good 20-30 degree tilt if needed. But boom arm allows that but adds additional fiddling.
