I have a problem with narration not coming through when I export the powerpoint show (ppsx file) as a mov or mp4 video file. When I open the ppsx on a PC and export, the sound DOES come through. So this seems to be a Mac issue. I use a usb microphone. I just recently got Office 2019 for MAC so I could do the exporting, so this is frustrating. I am running on MacOS Mojave. Appreciate any tips.

Good video. But the problem recording your voice in powerpoint is that the bloody humming noise that it picks up. As I listened to your recording, i could hear humming noise from the background. What I hate most about powerpoint is that you can pre record your audio and then inserting it into powerpoint, which is fine if you are presenting live to an audeince. But the moment you send your whole powerpoint to someone, they wont hear the audio because they were separate files and were only linked to your computer. You best of doing your presentation on Prezi.

@@debasritaguha3325 I just had the same problem and I have the newest version of Microsoft and Windows 10. Apparently, this is an issue for people sometimes. I've made many powerpoints that I recorded audio for and saved as an mp4 file. But, the last time I made a video I could not hear my recording, even though there was a time on it. I've never used a microphone, just the one built into my computer, and I have no idea why this happened. I ended up using my husband's computer because I had a deadline and it recorded it fine, again with no microphone.

I use my work computer (Dell PC/tablet, Windows 10 Professional) to screen record zoom and Teams meetings *All The Time* and the audio works perfectly with the video. I don't have an external microphone, it uses the built-in microphone. I am using the windows 10 OS Home for my Lenovo PC all-in-one and it needs to have an external microphone in order to record audio in a screen recording? Why? This makes no sense!

If you do the screen record and you don't get your voice when speaking, if in Windows check your sound settings. When you do the screen recording, it will record from the mic you have set. Took me a while to figure it out that Powerpoint was using the default which was my bluetooth headset that wasn't connected! So yeah, check your sound settings and pic the mic you want to use!

Hello madam.. I am trying to record an MS Teams meeting using PowerPoint screen recording option.. I use headphones to attend the meetings. Sometimes when I record the meeting, it records the discussion happening during the meeting and voice of people talking in the meeting but sometimes it does not record the audio.. I am sure that I always keep the audio icon selected while screen recording.. Could you please help me here where I am going wrong!?

You're not doing anything wrong. I'm doing the same thing and my work computer records audio and video perfectly, but my home computer does not. It's ridiculous. I am not using an external microphone for either, by the way. So to have to BUY a microphone to do this JUST FOR POWERPOINT is stupid.

HI, I recorded an audio for each of my 12 slides and added seconds to each slide in the Advanced Slides area, I unclicked On Mouse Click. I hear them when played back individually by clicking the Record Icon on each page. But when I click Slide Show, From the Beginning, nothing happens. The 1st slide appears but stays and no audio, I press Enter to move to the next slide and the same happens, no audio. What did I do wrong? Thanks

I did a recording of 10 slides and they all work except for one of the slides. While its in sorter mode, I can see the microphone button and click and hear what is recorded, but when you actually play the entire slide show, that one particular slide doesn't play, it flashes once on the screen and moves to the next slide as if there was no recording. Any advice?

My problem was that I couldn't get the Record Slide Show option under the Slide Show tab to record. But after playing around with the audio button under Insert as you were showing, the Slide Show option began working. Go figure. Anyway, your instructions got it working so thanks.

Is there a way to continue a recording after I stopped it? I understand the pause function, but let's say I record 10 slides today and want to continue recording another 5 slides tomorrow. You may not have an updated version of PowerPoint. The recording as in screen recording feature came out in 2016 I believe. Until that time you could only record the timing of your presentation, nothing on your screen.

Thanks. In a previous video, you imported an Audio file and had it play while you changed your slides. When I import my audio file, it remains with only one slide and the audio stops when I change slides. How do you have the imported audio play over all your slides as you change them while Screen Recording? Thanks

Sorry for my delayed response! The only explanation Marla is that the microphone was not selected as seen at 2:34 in the video. I just did a quick test to try to see if when I played a video during a screen recording it would playback and I heard the audio. Now because it's coming through the speakers to your microphone, it will sound muffled a bit but you do hear the sound.

If you have external speakers the audio from your video will be picked up by your microphone. Your microphone will need to be activated and you just not speak while the video is playing. The audio will be slightly staticky (is that a word) since it's being captured by your mic. This is the only way to accomplish this using PP. If you do this often I'd recommend using Camtasia as you have control of recording only the audio from your computer whether your microphone is muted or not. It does NOT need to be a USB microphone, it can literally be ANY microphone that works with your computer. USB is best, sure, but totally wrong to say that only USB microphones work. Futhermore, saying "Google it" if it doesn't work defeats the purpose of your video. What a useless video.
