Vincenzo Campisi Gonzalez AMAZING. Vision is 25/20. Dryness is minimal- limited to when I wake up, stare at a screen too long or get the car AC blasting in my face. No halos during night driving, no blurriness, I’m so satisfied with the end result. My eyes are still sensitive to the touch if I accidentally rub or bump too hard over the site of the surgery, but otherwise I feel absolutely normal and great. I’m wearing polarized sunglasses during the day as recommended by my doc to prevent healing or any sun damage to the eye.

I just did lasik. I wish they would have offered me prk
@dustintravis87913 жыл бұрын
@@tais7552 Why? LASIK is a faster process with less recovery time. They just cut your cornea and pull it back, hit it with the laser, and put the corneal flap back. PRK they have to remove an area of your cornea and then when done I think they put some sort of liquid to replace it. I just had LASIK today and have been comparing the videos (to PRK)... if you are a LASIK candidate it's the way to go AFAIK. After I took a nap when I got home I could see like 90% clearly and the rest of the evening it only got better. NO pain at all, zero pain killers needed. I'm not saying PRK isn't great for those that can't do LASIK, it just seems like LASIK is the path of least resistance. Either way you're going to be happy with putting contacts and lenses away for good, so don't let me dissuade anyone only able to do PRK!
@mbogucki13 жыл бұрын
@@dustintravis8791 I will probably be getting PRK because I find the complications that can arise from LASIK to be unacceptable. While extremely rare there could be issues with the nerve regeneration after slicing them that can cause permanent dry eye and in very rare cases chronic pain. The structural integrity of the eyeball is also compromised and for some the flap never fully heals. Again, these are all very rare but I don't want to take the risk.

I got mine in September 2018. Day 1, no problem. Procedure was easy and painless. Day 2, pain was starting to kick in. Day 3, sucked. 8 out of 10 on the pain scales, but I had pain killers and sleeping aids. Anytime I opened my eyes, it felt like sand in my eyes, with a few painful needle spikes. Day 4, fields of flowers and blue skies. Pain completely subsided, still a little sensitive to light. 1 month in - dry eyes were common, but kept eye drops on standby. 20/20 vision 3 months to now - rare dry eyes, I still kept my eye drops on standby. 20/15 vision Easily one of the best decisions I made. Competing in sports growing up was near impossible as I wore glasses. Then I wore contacts for about 10 years, until the eye doctor saw I was having some serious drops in my vision. Without my contacts, I was at 20/80 on top of astigmatism. I'm thoroughly enjoying life alot more without the dread of putting contacts in every day. Seriously folks, don't let my experience discourage you from getting this procedure. It's a great trade.

@@Really_Biggah Yow. Can't believe it has been 2 years already. The first week reaaallly sucked for me. But after a few months my eyesight became, and is still, perfect. Most of my eye pain, I found later, came from way too much eyestrain from screen time. Take breaks and massage your orbicularis oculi if you are like me and tend to subconsciously squint. I've been told I have a mean resting face, but after I realized it was because my eyes were always so stressed, and I began to massage them, stretch them and focus on relaxing the area around my eyes, my resting mean face is gone! lol. Totally off track. The surgery went awesome and I am so happy that I never have to wear contacts or glasses again.

Hello, Elora. Thank you so much for sharing your experience. This has been extremely educational to me. I will be having Lasik/PRK next Friday. I will not know which until I get there, as the doctor performing the surgery is several hours from me and my schedule doesn't allow me to visit them physically. So, I am preparing for either or. I hear Lasik is quick recovery and will be able to see well enough to go back to work. But PRK takes longer to heal from. My worry is about 'seeing' right after surgery. I am farsighted, I think. My prescription if pretty strong, but I can see far away things without my glasses/contact. I can't see things near me. I worry about the surgery and how my vision will be. I live in a small country town, and my young son drives in rural highways and the interstate that isn't too crowded. He will be my driver after the surgery. He is really good, but doesn't have experience in a big city, such as Denver. Though you say your vision was blurry, could you see right after the surgery as your mom was driving? Though you may not have been able to read signs, could you see other cars and buildings and such? If I end up with PRK, will I be able to guide my son while he drives, or do you suggest I stay in Denver a few days instead of trekking home right after? Thank you for your help. I have been freaking out about PRK. I would rather have the new SMILE procedure, but the doctor won't know which is best for me until I get there the morning of surgery. Rather scary for me as I can't plan for my work schedule or prepare myself for being 'blind' for a while. Not to mention, I am taking college courses, and I have a huge test two days after the surgery. LOL Maybe I shouldn't do this?!!!

I just got my prk done 2 weeks ago..i got soo worried about the pain and procedure over nothin..i was expecting alot of pain for the first 3 days based on peoples experience.so i took an ativan before surgery so i was soo relaxed and abit drowzy..the surgery it self was like 10mins and laser part was only 2mins andnot scary at all..so about the pain afterwards.i would say all depends on the individual and their heeling process.my husband was in alot of pain after prk.my other friend had abit of pain and she was cooking and cleaning no problems.and as for me i barely had pain :) on 2nd and 3rd night i had abit of pressure and discomfort so i put numbing drops and just in case took tylenol 3 .but during the day i had no pain at all :) i followed all my instruction putin drops as told :) wish everyone good luck and dont be scared ahead of time..u might not even have much pain :) all worth it!! Being able to see with no glasses or contacts its amazing!!

This is interesting; I had Lasik done on September 18, 2020, and i felt the burning pain after my surgery and throughout most of the first night. After that I haven’t had any pain/discomfort to this current day. However day 2 i did feel the uncomfortable contact feeling each time i would blink, but after a few hours it went away. I could see 20/20 immediately after surgery btw. I had to keep my eyes closed the entire day after surgery pretty much (that was annoying). Also, my eyes aren’t sensitive to light; I haven’t seen any halos. I wear my shades each time I go outside so im not sure how my eyes will react without them (im not going to try and find out). Anyway, i just thought the differences between the surgeries were interesting

I had a Trans PRK surgery 6 days ago, here’s my experience: 50 seconds of laser each eye (-4 and cylinder of 1.25 on both eyes) Day 1: Right after the surgery, couldn’t open my eyes, shit load of pain and burning sensation like someone sandpapered my eyes and kept the sand paper inside. Had to ask my friend to put my eye drops for me because I just couldn’t. Day 2: Still in pain but could open my eyes, blurry eyesight. Day 3: Morning was okay-ish, evening was sandpaper feeling again. Basically days 1-3 I was sitting in the dark and waiting for time to pass, couldn’t do anything. Day 4: Pain gone but super blurry vision, couldn’t see/read anything from up close nor faraway but I was able to perform basic tasks by myself. Day 5: Started seeing from up close, was able to read and use my phone, but distance was still blurry. Day 6: Started seeing from distance and started enjoying the benefits :) From here I assume the vision will be clearer and clearer everyday with some ups and downs along the way. Will keep updating if someone is interested. (Since everyone has different experience due to different prescription I guess someone out there has a similar prescription to mine and would like to know the experience).

Hi Elora, quick question for ya. I am leaving tech school soon and wanted to see who I could talk to about PRK or LASIK at Travis AFB before my active duty orders end (reservist). Do you remember if you called the hospital? Or was there a clinic?
@EloraJean3 жыл бұрын
Hello! I went to an optometrist for a regular eye appointment and asked the doctor for some information then. The process takes a while so if you leave tech school soon I'm not sure how feasible it is to get everything done in a quick enough manner! But it's worth a shot.

After a month of this surgery, I am still experiencing blur sight and it’s a weird feeling cos there is no clarity on anything and it is frustrating and tiring I had to start work from day 3 of the surgery and have to be on the computer and phone for more than 8 hrs. That’s not helping either. So, consider that prior to making a decision.

@mavrin14972 жыл бұрын
@@everydayescapes3367 My vision only lasted for 2 years as 20/20. As of today, I require a small prescription to see far. Other than that, I can see fine - I just use those glasses when I'm either watching a movie with subtitles or driving at night. With my case, I have chronic dry eyes - ever since I got PRK done, I rely on OTC eye drops daily. Probably for the rest of my life. It's normal and a must that I have eyedrops with me at all times. Last October - my eyes were so dry that I (tore) the first layer of my left eye. I had a contact bandage placed over for 4 days just to heal and was instructed to use Muro128 ointment. Which I can't go without now.

Hello. You gave such a detailed view of the whole experience of the surgery. I have been wanting to get the PRK too. How much was your refractive error before the surgery? I want to join the military and have heard that PRK is the best option. Does the epithelium heal completely? Please keep updating as much as possible.

My vision was about -2.0 and -2.5, the epithelium is supposed to heal completely as long as you use the drops and follow post-op instructions all the way!

I was able to comfortably drive after a week, although the vision was still blurry and I couldn't read road signs. I wouldn't have driven somewhere unfamiliar to me. I’ve heard lasik has a much faster recovery time and instant results........and it costs the same amount that you paid for PRK. At least here in Utah. What made you choose the latter?
@EloraJean6 жыл бұрын
I was recommended PRK rather than LASIK by the eye doctor, after they examined my eyes and decided I was a better candidate for PRK. I was told although recovery is longer, results are sometimes even better than LASIK, and you don't run the risk of accidentally bumping your eye and the corneal flap created in LASIK later down the road (as it apparently doesn't heal 100%?). I just trusted the recommendations given to me, and was comfortable with the choice.
@aggelosn.68466 жыл бұрын
Tracy Young I went for PRK for the same reason. If you have low degrees better do PRK. I was told that recovery is more painful than Lasik and I was prepared for a lot of pain etc. but it is not smthg that you cannot handle and it's only for a couple of days

This is my 3rd procedure on my left eye and right has only 1. i started with blinding cataracts on both eye I'm a mystery don't know why I got cataracts in my mid 30's basically blind on my left eye. that's why I had to get PRK after having multifocal implants in both eyes my left had been so bad that implants helped but still see blurry. hopefully PRK helps.. ok.. back to ur vid. i might comment again LOL...
