You can use Lightroom CC with an external drive. Yes. But what I really want is to use my iPad with an external drive and not be forced to rely on overpriced cloud. Plus I am rarely able to find good enough internet and it takes longer to synch to cloud than it does for me to edit 100 images. Sad.

@@SteveVickAK but you can only browse through the files app integration and can’t recursively add photos. It’s a bit of a trainwreck to use usb drives.
