I think the developer didn't know it would be that success of a game, so they designed "just the basic" to sell it. But now that they found it is aweasome (sold out the shelves) I truely believe (and hope) they will make a lot of new content.

@@BehindTheGrindTV seeing how fast they have been responding to bug fixes and adding new operations (next one coming with the dark angels update) also the devs already said they will add chaos customizations, if they keep up the content and add some other way of obtaining the dlc colours then it could tourn out to be a great game. the dev. team has been very active too witch for me is a good sign for things to come.

I agree with this. Working in the industry, they certainly didn't have a team worming on major live content for post launch. I think they just focussed on finishing the game and it will take some time for post launch content to really get rolling.

I disagree with you on one of the beginning points. The way 40k licensing works is pretty restrictive. Games Workshop keeps a tight tab on anyone using their material. Saber Interactive has discussed with many player feedback items that the licensing prohibits them from doing everything. Moreover, a smaller development team does mean there is less they could do. I prefer a game that is not nearly as expansive if it means they can really hammer out the content they want to address. Providing sprawling content either requires more time, or more resources (people). Unless you wanted this game to get released 2-3 years later, it is extremely unlikely they could have done more with the scale of time/resources they had. So no, I disagree there is “so much” Saber could have done with this game. Games Workshop is very particular with their licensing, and with the admitted lower personnel development team there isn’t a whole lot else we could have expected (unless we wanted more content, at a far more broken level than at release).

Anyone that's been playing World War Z from its launch in 2019 knows that these devs dont abandon their franchises. WWZ has been getting dlc since it came out, and guess what? Another dlc for wwz is coming out in December. If that game is anything to gk by, then this game will be getting a lot of love from the devs in the future.

I have clocked in 47 hours on the game and am still having fun with it. Now I would say give the devs the benefit of the doubt, they gave a pretty good polished and really fun experience to play. I remember something my wife told me years ago while I was fixing up our home, TTT (things take time). If you are burned out take a break, but give the devs a chance to add content. This didn’t have a AAA budget, so let’s keep things in perspective.

I guess it’s subjective. If you play alone I could see how it can get stale. Right now I play PvP with my brother, and forcing yourself to work as a team and pulling off W’s is a pretty good feeling. They are going to add more maps to the PvP mode as well as new modes. Remember this game is first and foremost a PvE game. I will be playing through the story again when I get tired of operations and PvP. Again I don’t think there is anything wrong with having wishlist items, I.E. please add more pvp maps, a new mode etc…but realistically their roadmap for a whole new style of game just to satiate people’s gamer burnout puts too much pressure on them. I would rather have them focus on making a SM3 with new features, more enemies, improving on what they have already made here. But that’s just my opinion as well. Take care.

I will still continue to say this. Battle Barge has the potential to be a social gathering hub to meet people. So I will try to explain how but keep in mind I have a viral flu rn so I won’t be able to explain it too well unless there are people that get it. I played eso a shit ton (Elder Scrolls Online) people would gather round in a town to group up to just to talk and chill. In the game’s heyday there would be like 40 - 60 people in that town but these days it’s more like 15. I’d say make the battle barges as one of those towns. Once you load in the game makes a cinematic like you are coming out of stasis or something (Be perfect for server loading). As soon as you come out of stasis you can see many players talking, chilling, and grouping up for operations and PvP.

I do believe the horde mode should have been out by now. You could add different modifiers to each week to change it up. Just make it a fun mode, doesn’t need a story linked with it. Where you could play both loyalists or traitor marines

I honestly think it's fine! The campaign was amazing, offers lots of replay with difficulties. There are more than enough operations for most players. The pvp is a fun change of pace and is like a lot of the old school arcade shooters. A lot of people wanting new, harder content already have 5000 hours into the game, most of us don't have the kind of time to do that. I get 4-6 hours a week to play,m, and lethal runs are likely out of my ability. I think just adding new operations in the future, and more DRIP is the future.

I don't believe for a second the devs didn't know this would blow up. PVP in SM1 was alive. Then an AMAZING MOD came out and really. They need to just go peek that mod and implement that into pvp. This will never die if that happens Just as well, copy SM1 chaos customs. That was the best. Not only didn't just geek out making chapters, but it helped me paint!

I think I agree with your point where additional work is necessary to keep this game functional and worth coming back to over the months and years while servers are live, then an offline plan needs to be in place for when it doesn’t make sense to have servers online. But I don’t think you made a lot of sense with the development arguments. I think some of that was a bit inconsistently structured. I just dont think I’m on board with making a space marine game a live service. I think this game was a great example initially as to why the live service model can suck so much

@ GaaS is definitely an expansive subject. You’re right that the seasonal roadmap falls under this, and I mean a “battle pass” and “season pass” sure do seem to work an awful lot the same ways, even if one puts an awfully scary feeling in my wallet vs the other. That said, coming from the last 20 years seeing what Microsoft did to my beloved Halo, I feel like there’s the old way vs the new way of GaaS. The old way didn’t feel as predatory. Game loops seems more focused on the core of the game, rather than what could be additional sale items. Don’t get me wrong, I’d still buy a dlc (or seasons pass) for this game. But I guess I just hope they don’t fall into the same trap that bungie then 343 did. Keep up the good work! I’ll certainly be around for additional SM2 content.

I think too many people are viewing this as bashing the game when it can best be summed up as: it's so damn good we consumed everything in the first week and now we want more and have wanted more for the past two months. My personal take is that every PvE operations could have been 20-30% shorter, and more missions developed from those shortened missions. Some of the missions truly do drag, and there's only 2-3 that I'll always reliably speedrun for cosmetics: Inferno, Decapitation, and Vox Liberatis. In terms of harder difficulties, there's one main easy mission I always go to: Fall of Atreus.

It is a great game and plays quite well, but I won't lie. 7 hours to beat the main story is a bit slim. Yeah, the multi is fine and worth playing as well... but a bit more content and replay-ability would have been greatly appreciated. I see this argument for 'old games' having short stories, but it doesn't track. there are plenty of games I played as a kid that had made up for short campaigns in other ways.

I'm NEW to everything Warhammer. Everything Space Marine. As a gamer and the little I know about the lore I'd have to agree with you on all of your take. More could have been done. And not being able to truly attach the flying bosses is annoying. At least for melee builds. I'm still asking myself why is it a Vanguard can't grapple anything that's in the air and pull it down or fly up to it with a devastating kick? 🤷 The customizations really need some love. Especially with the Sniper and the Vanguard. The Sniper is LITERALLY the Vanguard with a poncho. 🤣🤣🤣

I think they need to actually get in the ball with fixing bugs. They say the fun out of things more than anything else and it seems like they just aren't even paying attention with them. Thropes are still shooting through walls, Emperor's Vengeance has been bugged since launch even after being patched once, ammo refund perks either don't work at all or lose track if you switch to your pistol, snipers quick scoping has been a thing since 4.0 and needs to die, dodge s are buggy as hell and you take damage even when you know you hit it because of the gun strike (since 4.0 also), warp flamers and carnifexes can hit well past their actual visual range, and someone else standing in front of you breaks your parries being the worst offenders.

I think SM3 needs to take place during the Great Crusade into the Horus Heresy, you could start at the Ulanor Crusade and destroy the Orks, then fight some other random xenos like the interex and then the heresy starts and you are fighting in massive battles with 100’s of astartes, end it with the seige of Terra. If you are gunna call your game space marine, then the heresy should be the main focus since it’s like 99% about space marines.

I agree with most of what you say, i love the game as it is but it is very limited in options, there are so many warhammer games they can take inspiration from but haven't. i did all the operations in max difficulty and i really find no other reason to do anything but inferno (the first one) because of how gimmicky all the other ones are with some sort of level ending mechanic. i understand that cosmetics need be sold to make a profit but 40 dollar dlc for a couple of colours is a bit steep. mind you i bought it because of 1 color which was the purple one and other than that there is litterally no other value to me than that. although i dont mind they have fixed prices on their DLC's because with enough effort your marine can look badass so i do think they struck a balance. They did a lot of things right but also shit the bed with other things. there are so many things missing that halo 2-3 had in their time. the amount of pvp maps is just sad. Some enemies are downright foul. zoanthropes and neothropes are a pain in the ass to deal with if you play assault or bulwark. and the added difficulty of chaos marines without getting extra experience is stupid. Also the whole experience structure needs to be revamped imo. there is literaly no reason to fight and kill all the enemies in an area because it gives no additional experience you are basically fighting because of pride or cant ignore the 7 ranged enemies that spawned. Hopefully they keep adding content because i do love the overall combat of the game, it very is satisfying to mow through hordes of enemies and coming out with full health or keeping yourself alive until the very end. but they lack a lot of content given from which universe they are working with. i hope that within the next year they can add other classes like battle sisters or grey kights, apothecary, techmarine. and enemies such as orks, necrons or eldar to fight against in horde mode. In my opinion they can start making a 3rd installment where its all about taking a planet like planetside with the success they have had with this game i just hope they make the right decisions to move the franchise forward. because this has so much potential.

It’s a amazing game but I’d have to agree. The game has a slow roll with content. The thing that bothers me a little is the season pass. The only content that the season pass gets you is the champion packs that still has not come out yet. The ultramarines pack was released at launch. It’s a very slow release.

Really enjoying the game right now even after 60 hours, it does get repetitive as there are few maps in pvp and less variety in pve. Many of the customization options are supposedly locked due to games workshop no approving, many of the things in the game are decided by games workshop if they like it.That is to say that games workshop isn't really the one doing the big changes but they do have a hand in it as the ip holders. Content is slim at best, campaign was alright, short but alright. Difficulty should be taken from helldivers 2 with more enemies with less health as to make it like you are a space marine, helldivers has it perfectly with impossible odds beaten with the tech you have and the skills to know when to use it.With SM 2 content should be released more frequently as even after 2 months we're still doing the same things over and over till the end times, as I wrote before the game loop is fun and from the video made as well but you get to a point where you are just burnt out and that sucks.Player number dropped immensly due to content drought. Focus/Saber want to communicate with the fans but they also need to give updates on if there is more to come as yes there is but when and how much. The october update with the upcoming content video made it seem like the new cosmetic pack is arriving next week of it but it just ended up being a small patch with an even smaller update yesterday. All in all content needs speeding up and also a updated road map as the game sold well hopefully leading to more devs hired and better patches being released at a faster rate. With the chaos customization, it's a game workshop thing. They won't allow chaos customization. Probably because it's a space marine game and they don't want the focus to be on chaos as far as player characters. Games workshop is really hard-core about the lore. Everything need their approval before it can be put into the game.

There’s a war on the subreddit between those who complain about everything & nothing works properly & those who think everything’s fine & everyone should stfu. Personally the Tryhard everything should be so difficult and bullet sponge enemies are fine actually the ones impeding constructive criticism. Note, how crazy hard the Ops become. As for variety, yeah, I was starting to get burned out and didn’t want to sully it. I think people are making this the only game they play which isn’t going to help longevity. Personally I’m putting it down until the next major update and moved the black ops 6.

Literally would break PvP really bad idea........ Having some Dreadnought missions in campaign would have been awesome though, you could also have a operations with a playable dreadnought in 3 stages, 2 of your battle brothers protect you while you do a stage as the Dreadnought then when a checkpoint is reached then you can swap and become a Astartes protecting your revered battle brother! PVP Dreadnought would not fit in the maps and also would have to be such a underpowered Dreadnought or buffing some wepeons to a ridiculous amount to be able to deal with it, you really missed the mark with this one badly!

A dreadnought in PvP would only work if it's one player vs five chaos players. Like evolve or something. But this game needs to be actually playable before we can think about terminators or dreadnoughts. The laser pointer wasn't worth the wait, the 7th operation wasn't worth the wait, I'm fairly sure operation 8 won't be worth it or enjoyable since it's chaos. Hell, the minimal buffs to the most underused weapons isn't even in the PvP mode, if giving auto bolter one extra mag is too crazy for PvP to have right now how can you expect a dreadnought?

The Volkite Pistol with a 2 second damage buff is the biggest joke imaginable.

Another one lost of the F2P constant grind mindset. If your main issue with the game is lack of content you can play other games yk. Heck I've personally put about 125h into whsm2 and am coming back to try the neovolcite pistol. The game was never supposed to get this big. But in a drought of mediocrity a decent game stands out like an oasis in a desert. And the ''oh there is no excuse for this to not be there at launch'' doesn't fly anymore when f2p and premium games will sell you 20-80$ packs and battle passes every 3 months.

this game feels like it dropped a full year too early. Not from being functional, thank god, but we have three modes, two of which feel like theres like half the content they should, or even a third in the case of pvp. I feel like horde mode should have been priority 1 for content. I love whats here, mostly, but having to replay inferno endlessly to scratch the defense itch is just lame as shit. The game is deceptively anemic in variety. Sure it feels like theres three games in one, but id say it feels like theres one decent campaign with two undercooked games stapled to it instead of three fleshed out experiences. Horde mode isnt gonna exist for a whole gd year?? Why bother puttin it on the roadmap at all then. i highly doubt the dripfeed of content is gonna last long enough for people to care. I love the gameplay loop but i straight up wouldve waited another year for this. Alas, secret level is coming out so they had to drop beforethen. And besides stability and other bugs the game DOES work. Its just a bummer it struggles under scrutiny. Still, excited for more content

Bruh you’re complaining about paying for colors to 40k fans. The majority of which are tabletop players that spend the games box price just making minor additions to an army. If you want more content you have to pay for it somehow. From release they have said this is not a live service game. They expect people to put the game down and come back with updates.
