Common scam fr though: people eat most or all of something and return for a refund. They just go to different stores if the business catches on. Common in fast food places (I was a manager once in the 90s) and I witnessed a serial refunder get caught. The owners implemented a new refund policy: they started checking I.D. and writing them down in the record books for refunds. Lady came in to try and scam a refund for the second time one week, was asked to produce ID and the owner began writing the i.d. number down. The woman got hostile, demanded her i.d. back once the owner started copying her ID, claiming it was "illegal" to write and store her information--funny how serial theft was okay though for her though.
