Very informative as always. Thank you. Watching you shrink wrap those bundles gave me a sore back though! Goodness woman you need taller tables or else place blocks (spacers of waste books, perhaps) under the table legs. You're young but by the time you're in your '50s or '60s your back is going to give up and cripple you. Take care of your health while you still have it ...you can never get back what you've lost by abusing your body. Be well.

I have to agree. I had a back injury early in my working life that laid me up for a couple of weeks and have been super-conscientious since then in working safely. While we tend to think of injuries resulting from a single over-heavy lift or an awkward twisting angle, but repetitive small, almost unnoticed strains on the back can accumulate over time and suddenly become a major issue.

As I've commented on earlier videos about the comparison of book prices on eBay here in the UK and Australia, I thought I'd give a specific example of a book sold in this video. 'The Secrets She Keeps' that you sold for $18.99 sells on eBay UK for £5.95 *new* with free postage and around £4 (again including postage) for used. Bearing in mind that the postage would be £3 this doesn't leave a lot of margin even if the books came free! For reference, £1 = $1.8 AU (approx)

I have the Iphone 11. The photos come out fine for the books. I put the phone on square setting, vivid setting and adjust exposure if needed. But I wouldn't want to be photographing clothes with this light. But this light would be sufficient for anything that I could photograph on this table - ornaments, shoes, toys etc

So ur still working like mad - i would have priorities the house right now and packing everything up especially as last time I moved it took me about 2 months of packing/moving. You know, u say 5 dollars for that cling-wrap, I agree it's good but its not as affective as rubber-bands :) I am fortunate to be a postie where we have an endless supply, we constantly sticking small-parcles together to make one large parcel and where u took a few minutes to that, I would have done that in a few seconds, I also sort out bundles with double rubber-band around them and inside a packet... its all about speed :) So Rubber Bands is actually my no1 $5 bucks spent haha
@cherrytreeblossom8475

Wouldn't rubber bands make an indentation into the book? It might be OK after they're parcelled up, but not without protection.
@DaveRepairs

@@cherrytreeblossom8475 indeed, but the bands I use are large and thick, so yes and no. A lot of books I seen from Mel are indeed in VGC so cling-wrap does indeed make more sense

Hi Mel I haven't watched this yet but will soon. I really like your videos having recently discovered them. You have inspired me to try bookselling along with all the others items I've amassed to sell so I hope you don't mind me asking so many questions. Someone has offered me some kid's books - some for 50c each and about 20 for $1 each s these are better known authors and in 'as new' condition (so she says I haven't seen them first hand). Would I be paying too high? They're all soft covers. This is all new to me and I"m pretty much flying blind.
@backfromburnout
@backfromburnout 3 жыл бұрын
Always look up your completed sales when unsure. I do sell kids books but due to the size of picture books a lot of them cost more for shipping so I do try and bundle them up. Kids fiction reader books sell well for me.

Does ebay do this automatically and do you have to be a store for that ability to be possible? Also, which sheets have worked best for you with that? Thank you so much. :-)

Howdy, maybe you have run into this problem. I sell books (comics) and can't figure out how to offer free shipping on each additional item sold after the 1st (media mail). eBay does not allow immediate payment and customer invoicing option to be active at the same time and there does not appear to be any options in the promotional settings that align with this. Basically, the customer has to pay the shipping on each item, and then I have to refund them after the fact which is not a good customer experience and creates unnecessary accounting steps. Any booksellers out there find a way to keep immediate payment active and still help the customer not pay all the extra shipping? eBay says they will pass the info up the chain, but that does not help in the current world.

Your $15 pile includes postage doesn't it .. so you are making a $7 profit approximately? I thought you went mainly for above $20 or is it because they are fast to move? By the way I've been spending my time the last week driving around watching your videos while doing my other job 😂 and ducking into op shops when I can, love my other job but time to make it my second income and eBay my main, very handy to do as a back up for when sales are slow 🎟️✔️

I aim to buy books that will sell for $20+ but when I get large hauls and free books some of them are worth less. But they are still worth listing for me as I am getting them free or cheap (30c-50c) and because of my fast processes. I can do the cheaper books as I'm trying to be a volume book seller and they still keep bringing activity to my stores and they do still sell. But if I am cherry picking for books I only want to buy books that will sell for over $20+. If I wasn't a volume seller I wouldn't want to be selling the cheaper books or storing them as they take too much space. Hope that makes sense.
