Great video. It is good to see that you can balance working and writing during the day, and can still get time to go outside. This is important, because getting stuck to your laptop all day can be a huge drawback of remote work. Once again, I need to implement the shorter writing sprints during my day, rather than waiting for the "perfect" time (which does not exist). My writing routine is chaos at the moment, so will be copying many of these ideas again-- particularly drinking water. Thanks!

I cherish my morning smoothies with an almost comical exuberance lol! They are the best way to start any morning. Have you ever tried yours with blueberries? Blueberries give me life. I really like the idea of moving to new locations and compartmentalizing things while working. One of my favorite writers had multiple standing desks set up around his house and would spend around 20 minutes writing at one, pick up his manuscript and move to a new desk and start writing again. Dang, now I really want to try this :P

I have no routine 😅 at least not where writing is concerned. We wake up early to get the husband off to work and do school first thing in the morning (7-10 ish). The rest of the day is cleaning/breaking up fights/YT&IG/writing. I’ve tried to stick myself to a writing routine, but it NEVER works and never lasts for long. So I just try to squeeze it in whenever I can.

Thank you for sharing this! I am so inconsistent with my writing, and I'm slowly trying to develop healthier and better habits in all areas of my life. I actually really really like peppering writing sprints in throughout the day. Having specific word count goals can be very stressful for me. Hmmmm I really think this may be my answer. Especially if I start with just a few sprints a day and slowly work my way up. Which is the same think I've been doing to add exercise in to my daily routine. I started with a short walk every day, and I'm progressively making it longer. It's working really really well for me. And if I'm having a bad day, I can always go for a shorter walk, but the goal is just to get out and do something. I feel the same about the sprints. On super busy days or days I don't feel well, I could still do the same # of sprints, but reduce the time per sprint. Or if I'm having a great day I could increase the minutes per sprint. I really love the flexibility of this! I can't wait to try it out!

I had to force myself to get up at 4h30 and write from 5am to 8am before work started. After work I'm too critical, too analytical and too overwhelmed with the rest of the world, so to write in the evenings is a big no for me. Getting in bed by 9:30pm is also a huge challenge, (usually closer to 11pm,) so I have to take naps during the day. Perhaps not healthy, but I've tried almost everything, and this seems to be the only way for me.

Tend to write whenever I can or whenever I have an idea for where I left off. Most of my day is chores or sleeping. My sleep pattern is way off. It's not a pattern even. Chores...all of them. All the time. Only person cleaning. Sometimes I can keep up, sometimes not. Sometimes to get through chores I listen to music or podcasts or take breaks. Not many or I'll get distracted and not want to do anything. My entire structure of life has fallen apart. It's been like this for a while. I graduated high school in 2016, so everything has been dull since. Without school as a day filler and a motivation, I slowly sank. Tried a few work programs to get get work experience because I didn't have a job in high school like other students. I was focused mainly on my school work. Haven't had anything official though. Last fall in 2020 I attempted to start my first semester of college but quickly fell behind without any support from the college faculty. The counselor at the college, who I had no choice to turn to due to anxiety and sleep depriving, had no answers. Tried everything suggested to me. They kept telling me to cut courses. I ended up with three courses but had to drop before I failed. They had unrealistic time spans that I could not meet. Was barely able to read the material they requested of me in a timely manner ,sometimes not finished yet. Then took a quiz before it disappeared from the site without it being my best work. There was no time for notes or studying the material. They suggested that I skip reading the information and take the quizzes. How could you take quizzes or write papers on material you don't read and still get a good grade? That makes no sense. Poor advice on their part. So I just have to keep trying. I'm looking for another college. Sorry for the rant.
