if you think the director didn't take note of what happened and OP isn't in line for a promotion now you'd probably be mistaken. While big companies are cesspools and office politics are the norm and nobody up higher than you really cares as long as the work gets done.. Any smart boss would see his contributions after a stunt like this and would like to have the guy working below him. OP is a good hardworking doormat. After a stunt like this he'll get the promotion im sure and then will still spend years wasting his talents at this company giving his labour for less than he's worth. But he'll feel better about it cuz he stood up for himself once. The perfect employee. I bet he's gonna be so happy to finally get recognition he'll run more overtime to prove himself even more too. I've worked directly under a ceo before. They value that kind of employee greatly because they're low maintenance. I was in a similar situation where my coworker would take my work and claim it as her own, I started cc'ing my manager in all my communications with her and that stopped pretty quickly. Cooperations always have a latter and you manager always has someone above them. There was plenty of opportunities for OP to cc his manager's manager to make it known he was taking credit or making him work more hours than everyone else. Sounds like OP didn't cover his ass or this story is made up.
