As a 63 year old alum who enjoys seeing what the OU students of today say about the University....I think this was a really honest and fair assessment of OU. I hope those who watch the video will take your comments under advisement. Oh, and I had to chuckle about the dorms. We thought they were rotten when I was there forty something years ago. Great job!!

I know I’m late to this video, but I just got accepted to OU today and I’ve been saying that I’ve wanted to go there for months now. But now it feels so real. I am also from Texas so I’m afraid I won’t get to go cause out of state is so expensive, but I’m praying for some money. I visited back in April and absolutely loved it and felt at home. It is far from home but I think I’ll get over that. I appreciate this video cause I think the food and dorms are not something I’m too worried about considering it’s a big issue at lots of schools, but it’s good to know those are some cons. Well , thanks !

@@ani4310 Although in theory I still have some time left to study a semester abroad, I probably won't do it. It's too expensive for me, and OU doesn't really have anything to offer compared to my "home" university regarding my major. So in the end I would only do it for the experience of studying abroad, which I can't really afford atm.
@eavannickolas45712 жыл бұрын
I am not an outdoorsy person, OU has both my desired majors and a double major program, I have family friends and Oklahoma City because it's where I was born, I have very good test scores (for reference, took the ACT before 9th grade and got a 27), I have half my dad's military benefits, and OU has all the activities I want. The only real problem for me would be the heightened homophobia/transphobia of the south, but that stuff happens everywhere. Honestly, I might go here, even if I have to fly there lol (I live in Iowa currently)

Tornado season is never what it feels like. Kansas is worse.
@duffledor3 жыл бұрын
@@schworgis8951 I have heard this said before so I decided to research it and I found pretty cool results. Oklahoma got 99-147 tornados in 2019 (a new record) but its average is 68 or 58 but in 2020 they had a lucky break getting 39 based on my sources and has had the biggest tornado (within the last 300 years) it was 2.6 miles wide and killed 36 people and Kansas gets 90 average also getting 89 in 2019 but due to an insane bout of luck only got 17 in 2020. Now this is where we ask who has more deaths Oklahoma of Kansas. During 2020 Oklahoma lost 2 people but Kansas lost no one at all. So according to averages Kansas is more dangerous than Oklahoma but in the last 2 years Oklahoma has gotten more dangerous than Kansas. I personally hope that it is just a 2 year fluke. Also still not moving to Kansas I know that if I do you guys will get a world record. Sorry about the spacing I wrote this in google docs.

How is the teaching overall? Also is the campus homophobic? And when you said that the dorms are bad, did you mean they are health hazards?
@itsnicolesmithh3 жыл бұрын
The teaching is great, I just recommend looking at rate my professor before enrolling in classes. I would say that the campus is not homophobic and there are a lot ally and inclusion trainings that are available to students. Sadly, there are going to people everywhere you go that want to knock you down, but I encourage you to continue to stand tall. The dorms aren't health hazards but aren't the best to live in, the worst one is getting torn down so it's not much of a problem.
