Spot on about the markets. I’m in nyc and a lot of the vendors are saying the same thing. Definitely doing less, but more quality events. Also focusing more on wholesale too. This approach is so much better for me as I have a 9-5, but still ended up with more on the sales and revenue front. So it’s smarter all around

Ashley I absolutely love this video. I totally agree with you not to know anyone's number. We all are different. I do a Farmers Market every Sunday right here in town. Yes events are very exhausting. Great video! This is my third holiday season. I am at the point of doing as many pop ups as I can. I’m in a pretty large city in Nor Cal, so there are a lot of suburban areas for me to hit. I am joining my first farmers market as well. That’s exciting for me. It will give me consistency.

Last year was my first year selling my making and selling my handmade goods. It was great trying out the vendor events and meeting people. I'm very introverted, so it was nice to break out of my shell for a bit. This year I slowed down a lot and was studying and testing new things out so I was not that active in markets. Also, I chose to be very selective with my events as the costs do add up so its a challenge with a limited budget and my personal life was just really busy. I get overwhelmed as well, so I just decided to focus on one holiday event this year and I'm looking forward to it. I agree, there are so many craft maker events every weekend. I do enjoy them and like meeting new people and other makers, but they are very time consuming and costly. I have decided to focus on my online presence for 2024 as I have put it aside and have not put much time in that, I am a newer maker so I am still working on my strategy, branding and marketing. So true about the markets! But I almost wonder if it’s because we are so inundated with them like candles (feels like everyone is a candle maker because of our algorithms). I saw you were doing a market for makers! I want to apply to one in my state, but I’m so overwhelmed because every ad I see for them is a candle maker 😩

How are you looking for events? I'm in Dallas and I know there are events going on ALLLL OVER DFW... but I'm not in the know of anything! I'm not an event girlie (to go to) normally, so no idea how to find good events.

I start following accounts, noticing events in my cities publications and social media accounts and just paying attention to where other vendors I follow pop up!
