Always interesting to see what other people throw, especially those who spend a lot of time on the water. There's a lot of years I fish 200+ days a year. Our arsenal is quite similar. Penn Spinfisher V 6500 for stuff up to 100lbs, 4500 Slammer III for bull reds and jetty work, 3500 Slammer III for reds and snook on poppers, 4500 Daiwa Back Bay (amazing reel) for reds and trout on soft plastics, 2500 Penn Clash II and Conflict II for slot reds and trout in open water, Lews Inshore bait caster and Shimano Curado.K for mangrove and structure fishing for snook, reds, trout, and mangrove snapper. Have some other stuff for BFS and really ultralight and Shimano Calcutta 400 and Lew's Super duty 400 for live baiting tarpon, small tuna, and bait fishing bridges. The Super Duty has proven to awesome, especially with 30lbs+ drag and power handle. The most fun is probably fly fishing under the lights at night. I've had nights with over 100 fish. Love the setups that you throw. They definitely cover a wide range of fishing. The most important thing is that YOU love them and have confidence in them.

Got that Calcutta DC left hand shipped from Japan like 3 years ago. I use it nonstop. My backup is the curado dc, but I’m always grabbing that Calcutta dc. It’s all that and a bag of chips. The drag noise makes me bite my lip🤯
@aaronhiggs2 жыл бұрын
I rock a Calcutta 151 for everything. It’s on my coastal customs mh 7’6” rod. Absolutely the best swimbaits reel ever.
@gradybrowning39762 жыл бұрын
I have been using the Calcutta 400 for 20 years, is my favorite all time reel. Grew up using ambassadors 55-6500 but the Calcutta is It!
@tylerjonesfishing2 жыл бұрын
Seeing how effective you are with baitcasters and how efficient they are pitching and flipping makes me more inclined to buy a setup. Probably would go with the curado dc on a bull bay rod. Keep up the great content

Been fishing saltwater 30 years, but I always got my stuff done with the cheapest options (by far the most expensive rod I ever bought was either a st croix avid or an all-star breakaway - and for reels a Shimano TLD25- most are abu's). Enjoy videos like this so if I want to actually spend some money I'll have a better idea as to what to buy. Thanks.

That’s a beautiful combo of rod and reels! I have a request if you don’t mind, please try out a couple more spillway videos ! 😃 I mostly salt water fish but I’ve been going through this spillway faze and I loved your spillway videos from the past🤙 plz like if you agree

I have a 13 fishing bait caster the one slotted right below yours in terms of cost. It’s pretty awesome. I also have the tsunami evict, it’s super smooth, drag works well, and it’s fairly light when compared to a similar sized Penn reel. Great video man wither way.
@MW3BOT2 жыл бұрын
The evict is highly underrated. It’s been a tank kayak fishing for me.
@AndreasChristouSaltwater2 жыл бұрын
Sweet vid bro! I enjoyed seeing what kind of set ups your using these days. Kind of the polar opposite of what I use most of my stuff is lighter and smaller reels. Maybe it’s because of where I am in Florida and our species. More trout and redfish instead of snook
@FishiganMilligan2 жыл бұрын
Cool stuff. May I suggest the Lews Custom Lite. Definitely my favorite reel setup with my medium light for wade fishing.
@daltoncastile35262 жыл бұрын
I just got into fine tuning my setups. I’ve got a Waterloo phantom 7’0” moderate fast paired with a shimano SLX 150HG with 10lb braid, a 7’10” shimano terramar medium fast paired with a shimano Sedona 5000 with 30lb braid, a shimano curado 200hg with 30lb braid on a 7’6” falcon inshore clearwater XG. I think I use my Sedona 5000 the most out of the 3 and it just does good all around with really anything from popping corks to spoons and spooks to 1/8th ounce jigs. It just does very well for me.

The one sentence - buy a rod that fullfills a lot of purposes - is something I find very important to have for any and every angler. There will always be times when you know you can only get out a short amount of time and maybe even only on foot (like it is for me since I don't have a boat). Those times, having this one or maybe two rods at max forces you to not overcomplicate things. Tried to explain this to a few people I met fishing who have not been doing it for 15 years like me and just orient themselves on influencial fishing youtubers, which isn't all wrong of course, but they also think they'll need a ton of combos so they can do anything, but end up only usong a few most of the time.
@timothynellis5222 жыл бұрын
Lucky i seen this shortly after being uploaded I'd love to see you make a video explain when we're why and how to find a spot in our area of Florida for fishing I love fishing and feel a lot of success with saltwater comes with knowing we're when and how to find that spot that makes sense for the according weather and season
@kateskrmetta20222 жыл бұрын
That would be a sick video 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
@paulywally37802 жыл бұрын
There are some apps that can help you with timing your local tides. I remember buying an Apple Watch just to use the tide apps. Then you really have to go experiment. For instance, everyone locally always spreads the same lame nonsense “the fish turn on in the pass on the incoming tide!” Then everyone you see is saying “no luck or no bites”. Turns out, from my experimental fishing, the fishing turns on in the pass on an outgoing tide right before the switch to incoming tide during certain times of year. So much so that I now only fish during those tides and just crush the fish and have a great time nonstop. Bottom line, put in the work in your area. All year long, all tides and times
@drc0228002 жыл бұрын
I know everyone says this but the best thing you can do is just fish your local area as much as you can. The more often you go the more you will start to see patterns in the fishing and weather and it all starts to make sense

My calcutta 400 is awesome but I wish they made a left handed model. Got it for Christmas one year but I would have never bought it myself. I'm right handed and use the left handed baitcasters because then I don't have to switch hands when I cast.

Listen to the man, if a decent reputation is involved, you get what you pay for! We all find those multi-purpose serviceable gems for a decent price, but once you find a niche you want to fill it pays to go big, or maybe go home disappointed.

Do you have any problems with having 15 pound braid on the concept z? Ive always used like 30/40 lb braid on my bait casters because people always tell me the line will dig into it self when your fighting a fish and it makes casting a pain

Hey I’m pretty new to saltwater fishing and I really enjoy your channel and I was wondering what the best starting baitcaster in your opinion would be because I love using spinning combos but sometimes I feel that I need something else so I was wondering if you have any good starting baitcast combos to recommend?

13 fishing origin tx inshore baitcaster is fairly cheap but really good as long as you set the brakes right with the right braid it will cast for miles and very resistant to the salt of the ocean.
