MY RARE OSCAR FISH CHANGED COLORS!

The oscar colour there... completely normal. They refer to these as "lutino". Its the most common morph around, the dark on the body will settle down, they generally get darker as they come into sexual maturity and after a few months they'll get a bit more orange and a little less black on the body. The black on the fins will stay.

Please help my brother. I just rescued a almost full grown oscar with cuts and cloudy eye. Apparently the owner was a young kid who would take the fish out the tank by hand last week he dropped it on the ground so his mom put it up on the FB exchange page for free. I got him but he is cut up pretty bad and has cloudy eyes. He is eatring and swimming with no prob but some rely bad scrapes and a lil cut on the chin. Any tips on medications or should I just keep the tank 100% clean and allow the poor thing to regain her stress coat and recover ? I can post a video on my channel if you need to see it to determine

Over the years of keeping oscars, I've come to the conclusion that juvinile oscar colors are never, I mean never to be trusted. Like never. I've seen them change color so drastically. From fry sized to about 4"/6" they can do a 100% color flip on you. I've had a blue oscar turn out to be a regular tiger, I've recently had 2 2" oscars that looked platinum so much that I was convinced they were even tho I know better. They turned out to be lutino. By 3.5" they were already showing Orange. If you want a specific type of Oscar morph, make sure to buy it at the 6"-8" mark with the pattern or colors you desire.

I just bought one that was called albino. With a little line of black in the two main bottom fins. Three days later after also feeding hikari color enhancement pallets cichlids food. Now it has darker patterns then yours with a both a red but not as bright as your red spot. Maybe half the size. I think it’s the food. This was me looking to see if it’s happened to others.

I purchased five baby Oscar’s a few months back. Three are tiger Oscar’s and two were white. They started developing black fins and I thought something was wrong but I’ve done the full run down on testing the water several times and it’s fine. PH good. Fins appear healthy and they act fine, I’m just assuming as they grow this is normal 🤷‍♀️ This is the first time I’ve had Oscar’s so I’m not sure.

I used to really not like Oscars, probably because most of what I heard was about people buying them as babies and then not upgrading their environments as they grew, and uprooting plants (I love planted aquariums), and being aggressive. But now that I've seen so many videos of well-kept Oscars and what great personalities they have, I'm learning to really like them. Maybe someday.... 🤔 platinum and lemon are just albinos with fancy names. Many breeders will actually use dye to color the Albion fish to increase their profits. Oscars like Goldfish and Red Devils will change coloration throughout their lives unlit they get to a certain level of maturity and even then they will change coloration based on environment and temperament/ mood. They are not Platinum White Oscars, they are Albino tiger Oscars. I have had a couple and that is how they look. Platinum White Oscars have no color to them other than pure white. When you first got them and showed their red marks I knew they were just Albino Oscars.

I just bought 2 little white Oscar's I'm planning on getting a lemon and a chili red we will see what color they end up being they are only 2 inches so I have time to get myself a big tank just adding a nother tank to the 5 I already have To be honest, I bought them. Because I know that they're going to get huge. And it's going to allow me an excuse to buy a bigger tank My old lady will have no choice

Well now I have a 280 gallon and my 2 white oscars look like yours they started to develop the black on them as well and I found a lemon oscar and Would you know it He is developing black on his finns as well 😂 thought I would share an update lol
