Southampton were terrible. Their goal came after 5 minutes of Palace pressure and was a chaos goal. Apart from that they didn't threaten at all. Palace had 19 shots 10 on target 6 blocked. Southampton managed 3 on target shots 1 blocked..............I'd also point out Southampton spent the whole match rugby tacking Mateta and Sarr. Two handed shirt pulls several times from Bednarek. At least 7 times in the match....He wouldn't have been on the pitch longer than 30 minutes if that was a foul. Fernandes would have been off as well...... Southampton just were not very good. The GD and general performances show that. Championship level quality.

I was coming into this game with a bit of hope. But it’s the same old Southampton, good start and scoring within 15 minutes but then, we throw it away and don’t pin the win down. VAR decisions has cost us so much this season, and I just hope now we get over 10 points, if we ever will 😅 AND a poor XI. No Ugochukwu? What was the thought in that?

Hi martin all the best for 2025. Like everyone else, its becoming a real chore watching saints now. As regards adam armstrong, its obvious hes not up to premier league level, so surely it must be a punt to try and get danny ings or callum wilson in on loan in january? Just to give us all a lift if nothing else.

VAR for the first goal Palace score? It's a joke! Compare that to the game against Brighton where we had a goal disallowed for a player what 8-10 yards away? Where Arsenal had a goal allowed under similar circumstances. I'm done with this bullsh*t!

Southampton have midtable Championship players trying to compete in the Prem. They conceded 60+ goals last season too many. I don't think Klopp or Pep could get much more out of this squad. Patience with the new manager 👍

Anybody want to buy a league 2 squad?. Cuz that's what we've got. Not even league one in my opinion. Others are available. Yes. Spot on with the observation about the fouling and the V A R decisions. Too many brown envelopes being passed around in the premier League and V A R has just ruined the game. May as well convert st Mary's into a hockey stadium. Not in the slightest bit impressed and NO, I'm not blaming the manager he doesn't go on the pitch and kick the ball. He just decides who does. He's still learning what he has to play with. We need two goalies, four defenders, four strikers two wing backs and five tall and fast mid fielders. Not a hope in hell of getting any of them though with the scrouges known as sport republic in control of the purse strings.

Why are we always second best in tackles. Why are we always second best in aerial "duels", especially on goal kicks. Why do we always throw (throw ins) the ball to the other team? Why do Refs always hate us?

Great analysis of the game, the Ref was terrible, he should have got hold of the game early, really felt he was favouring the home side, but Saints players need to learn not to give away stupid fouls in areas of the pitch where there is no threat.

No need to judge a manager too early, but that starting line-up was dreadful. Walker-Peters on the wrong side when Manning has been adequate (that's as positive as I get about him), didn't bother with a midfield, big Les dropped after a good performance and started with ten men because of our upgrade to Adam Armstrong being on the bench instead of Adam Armstrong.

I agree you are spot on. That midfield selection was a disaster. He has a LOT of work to do in my view this is a team way short for the PL

@ yes, that and your video is also spot-on. Yes a team may have injuries and fans can’t see how the players train, but when most fans could pick a fairly consistent best 11, it is frustrating to see the same selection errors being made.
