As a Liverpool fan I would sack your manager and try get someone like David Moyes, your defence is all over the place. You can still survive but you need a good manager and buy a striker, centre back in January.

lfc fan here. the criticism your managers receiving, in the media is crazy. you can't judge your manager on a game v liverpool. you will not be relegated this season. keep you manager, you play some great football. you've no worries. there is easily 3 worse teams than you. have faith and get behind your manager. things will be fine.

Get rid of him is an option. But who would come and replace him? Is it the RM system that is the issue? Or is it a case of the player recruitment, which isn't RM's fault?

After the Brighton game, a third of the season will have gone almost. It is OK in press conferences saying we are close, but what i can see is a team continuing to gift goals by having to play in an uncomfortable way. The manager spreading love and calling everyone mate does not make a good manager, he clearly isn't. He said when asked about his future a dew weeks back, that he would like to "string" it out longer, doesn't sound very confident. We will get relegated with him, persisting with him would be a disaster. I have said before, if lightning did strike twice and he got us promoted again, then what? He will continue his pig-headed ideology and we will get relegated again, the chain needs to be broken.

Southampton FC owners have no ambition. They have not brought in the right players to survive the Premier league. Fourteen players brought in, some ok and a couple showing great potential like Fernandez. So, the owners must take the blame and Martin with his tactics. We have been getting caught out on numerous occasions with our style of play, playing out from the back which is just not working! The players aren’t good enough to play this way and plus the vast majority of our squad is Championship standard. Not the players fault as I am sure they are doing their best. Martin seems very stubborn as he is not changing the tactics with no flexibility and it is failing. Some of saints play was good v Liverpool with the passing which created openings but, defensively we are giving the ball away carelessly by this obsession of playing out from the back and presenting our opposition with easy goals. Great to see Onuachu, Fernandez and Dibley, our best players v Liverpool. If we continue this way then we will definitely be relegated. However, on a positive note, the Championship is a great division. The premier league is so predictable with the top teams dominating, cheating players, poor refs, and inconsistency with VAR which spoils the game. I wish Martin and saints well for the rest of the season, but, along with many saints fans views, we are just not good enough for the premier league. Blame the owners for lack of ambition and poor buying in, and Martin for poor tactics i.e the obsession of playing out form the back.

I’m sorry but he has to go now. His tippy tappy football cost us the game yesterday yet again! It should of happened during the international break. Losing 10 out of 12 games especially at PL level is unforgivable. It’s probably to late for a new manager to turn things around now, but let’s get someone in who will at least give us a fighting chance ffs!

I agree. Even the match commentator and pundits said RM has no plan B. He either doesn’t believe in playing different style or has no clue on how to play differently. I am afraid the season is already well and truly over for the Saints now that the Board still keeping RM in the job before X-Mas.

It is really frustrating we kept playing the way we did at the back knowing very well we will give the ball away at such a vulnerable area. If Liverpool were at their best on the day, we will be at least concede 6-7 goals on the day. Is beyond me why RM cannot see this obvious weakness in the team and their playing style. Perhaps he should shaved off his facial hair and trim his fringe to be able to see and think clearly - now is getting to the point of personal attack unfortunately.

Since when was a narrow defeat against the top of the table a bad result? What manager would beat liverpool the most inform team in the world. If we had Ramsdale today we'd of had a point or maybe more considering McArthy was kind of at fault for the first goal and definitely the second.

The playing out from the back can and sometimes does work in particular situations and against certain opponents. Liverpool are the best pressing team in the league, one of the best in the world. We have Ramesdale and Bednarek out injured, why are we playing like that? We adapted to suit Macca at the end of last season. Why are we refusing to do so at a much higher level? Also, our players really suit playing quickly forwards on the counter attack. It’s how we scored against Everton, we scored our second today by doing the same thing. Why don’t we utilise this more?
@FootballMartin_

Well said, I agree with everything you say. Macca didn't look comfortable from the kick off to the final whistle. Why do we insist in continuing to play the same way and make the same mistakes when it does not work.

The system and style of play are entirely on the manager, and they're absolutely flawed for these players. The mistakes we're seeing wouldn't happen if we weren't asking our goalkeeper to roll the ball out to a central midfielder under pressure. This approach is repeatedly costing us.
