As a City fan, I think this was a really good and balanced video. You hit the nail on the head in regards to financial fair play and particularly why City and their fans don't like it. I don't think the only reason we'd win an appeal is down to money though. City believe they have a lot of evidence to support their case, I don't think it relies purely on paying for the best lawyers.

@generictotheextreme25664 жыл бұрын
Honestly, there should just be a complete ban on sponsorships where there might be even the slightest appearancec of a problematic relationship between the owners of the club and the sponsor. The problem isn't cost intensive periods. They might lead the club to financial trouble if it doesn't work out. But all companies enter periods where they have to spend more than they earn to renew themselves. The problem is suspect sponsorship deals, which are extremely inflated to hide the fact its actually just the owner spitting money into the club, using sponsors to hide where the money is actually coming from. Which is what City did with Etihad. A company owned and operated by the family of the city owner....how could that not be extremely suspect.
@kcapkcans4 жыл бұрын
@@generictotheextreme2566 i mean, the FFP rules even allow for limited overspending so that teams can establish themselves, so yeah, you're right. I guess the only downside would be when every team's forensic accountants start making spurious connections between hedge funds that are owned by a firm that also manages money for the owner's best friend's dog groomer.

I totally agree about the non-fairness of the "fair play rule", I've been talking about it for quite a long time. Nowadays it's pretty common to consider clubs like Man City, PSG and Chelsea as these rich cheaters. But a lot of now big and historic clubs got to that point because they were richer than others way before the FFP rules were implemented. For example AC Milan. They had won 2 European cups in 1960's, but in the middle of 1980's it was long gone history and they looked something like modern Nottingham Forest(little better than that), got relegated to Serie B twice. But then Silvio Berlucsoni bought the club and spent unprecedented amounts of money for the time. The result was the Arrigo Sacchi's millan that everyone loves to romanticize. But if there were FFP rules in 1980's, there would be no Sacchi's Milan. And it is far from the only case, another Italian giant Juventus is product of Fiat money from Agnelli family, which got even richer than before in 70's , because the oil crisis and it resulted in Juventus' improvement and Domination in 80's, before Berlusconi came and outspent Agnelli. What's the point of rich owners, if you don't allow them to spend and keep the same 5 or 6 clubs on the top of European football buy preventing the other teams from getting to their level by the only way it's possible. Without financial support there is no sustainable way to build a competitive team at the highest level. And I don't even mean top transfers. You could build a great team from your academy and if there is no big money in your club, these players will leave eventually. Just look at golden generations of Man United and Barcelona and then look at golden generations of Ajax. See the difference?

You Misha are one of the few people on utube who talks sense. What do you think about wonderful Liverpool employees 'hacking' into Manchester City's scouting system .This should investigated before uefa punish anyone.
@mishagelenava29624 жыл бұрын
@@georgevickers6415 to be honest I didn't know about that. I just checked it and sounds like Liverpool is getting a special treatment if they get absolutely no punishment. Also, I don't see this a huge problem. It would be more of a problem if the hacked not the scouting information about transfer targets but scouting information about the opponents before the game. That would automatically cancel every single positive result Liverpool got against Man City in head to head matchups.

FFP isn’t about protecting the big clubs like people are claiming it is. It’s about clubs being financially sustainable. Clubs like city may have unlimited money to spend atm but if their owner was to pull out of the club then they could collapse. It’s like those fm experiments where you give a non league club a billion pounds. Once the money dries up they’re screwed cause they’ve committed to spending more than they can afford or sustain.

the worrying thing i find is all of a sudden UAFA seem to be this squeaky clean organisation , which is basically run by the big clubs , psg have recently been allowed in and look whats happened there with there former president and that was not UAFA policing themselves. man citys shirt and STADIUM sponsorship seemed alot when it was signed, but what we did not take into account was the length of the deal , it transpired after only 2 seasons to be a good deal for Eitihad GIVEN NEW DEALS FOR OTHER CLUBS AFTER, ffp was an jdea from this country only to be hijacked by EUFA it actuaaly can have a negative affect on struggling clubs because new owners can not come in an invest money to make them strong. so when a club is in debt why would anyone other then a supporter.ask yourself why a ligament organization would conduct an un biased investigation while leaking certain information through out? city will turn this around but the damage has been done they will be guilty even when proven not

If City get punished and UEFA want to be fair, it would ruin European football. This is because loads of European clubs have done stuff like this. Bayern’s owners own a stake in Audi who sponsor Bayern. PSG’s owners have ties with Qatar Airways. Juventus and Fiat. The list goes on. Why are City the only ones being punished? It seems strange to me. FFP was only brought in to keep the elite clubs at the top and everyone else to be left behind. City are richer than UEFA (like you said)so this court case will definitely drag.

Really good job on explaining the current situation, was one of the more easier to understand breakdowns I've seen. I can see your feelings regarding FFP on holding back clubs from competing with the big boys but I don't completely agree. Even under FFP rules a team like City and with the wealth that they currently have are well capable of increasing their revenue and brand. FFP does not stop the smaller clubs from catching up to the bigger clubs. What is does is attempt to keep that transition within the normal realms of reality and most importantly time. All clubs have had to grow in relation to what they can earn and invest back into the club. It might take 5 years to generate the money needed to bring a club up to the next level but what if that club can suddenly invest triple that in one season? Smaller clubs can grow with rich owners but it should be via a natural path. City wanted the rewards of being a massive club but without the work / effort / sacrifice every other club had to put in in order to achieve it. It was obvious the moment a team like City could blow United out of the water on sponsorship that they were using under hand tactics. In what normal reality would a brand pay City more than United for sponsorship deals. Chelsea are no different either.

FFP is broken imo. It’s very selective for when points deductions/bans occur and keeps the current established clubs at the top without any new teams having any chance to progress, compete and contend . Several European clubs like PSG have gotten away with similar practices and weren’t punished. Also, several teams that got promoted to the premier league made significant losses breaching ffp without very much punishment (either nothing given like with Wolves or a very small fine compared to how much they went over ffp - leicester and bournemouth ) . A salary cap like in most US sports or luxury tax that you see in the mlb are the only ways to stop clubs from overspending

Did anyone else notice that if City get deducted premier league points and lose some of their titles, the aguero moment would have been pointless and Martin Tyler pretty much lost his voice for nothing

AC Milan got banned from the Champions League for the 06/07 season for match fixing. The owner, who was also the Prime Minister of Italy, Silvio Berlusconi, had that overturned. AC Milan went on to win the 06/07 Champions League, beating Liverpool 2-1 in the final.

Still a ridiculously unjustified decision to this day. They were part of the Calciopolli scandal.

I understand implementing a wage and salary cap, in Australia almost all our sports have it and it does definitely increase competition but what also comes with it is clubs trying to work around the cap by using sponsorship deals to increase offers to players and thus cheat the cap It’s been rife throughout NRL in Australia and it’s quite tough to stop as clubs will always, without fail, look for loopholes and exploits in such a money driven environment

really clear and good video spen. i agree with pretty much everything u said. if city are guilty they should be punished but always feel uneasy when UEFA have a go at "aspiring teams" but ignore huge debts etc. of the established big clubs. lets not forget the champions league was only created because European cup was seen as "unfair" as you could only have one team from each league thus no juventus v milan or barca v madrid ties...

On the topic of salary caps, he mentioned China, but recently even they have made salary cap of £48,000 a week roughly for foreign (non-Chinese) players, and approximately one third of that for Chinese players.

I completely agree with your plan at the end. Here in America your team can be the worst in the league one year, and the best 5 years later. That’s how it should be, gives hope to everyone for greaty

Spencer I completely agree, financial fair play isn’t fair at all it just allows the big clubs to stay big. I think they should introduce a maximum spend per transfer window.

Man United haven’t been in the UCL consistently for about 5 years, but attracting players is no less simple than it was 5 years ago. It may be starting to wane, which can be seen by Dybala and Håland both rejecting them, but they can still attract a lot of players. So, why would Man City’s pulling power significantly decrease?

Great vid but despite the negative aspects of FFP, alternatively implementing a salary cap system would be a terrible idea. 1) Restricting clubs to a salary cap limits the quality of the league and could ultimately lead to players leaving to superior leagues. For this reason, an international salary cap system would never be accepted as the best nations would be looking to exploit other countries’ financial limits and improve themselves irrespective of UEFA consequences. 2) A salary cap system would be completely unfair to clubs who generate greater revenue as realistically within 2 seasons clubs as low as Championship teams battling to survive relegation can suddenly buy their way to success. With this, worse clubs would be inherently held down as clubs could surpass them as soon as they’re injected with cash. 3) Clubs would be more vulnerable than ever to be run into the ground by incapable owners and boards as the squandering of funds could lead so many more clubs to follow the same path as Bolton and Bury 4) Most importantly, in a salary cap system clubs would be essentially punished for superior youth development. This is clearly seen in other sporting leagues who use a salary cap where teams can acquire young players at a relatively cheap salary and transfer fee but are ultimately forced to lose them or other players without compensation as soon their contracts are improved. A salary cap system would see all clubs capable of maxing out the cap do so, which would mean that big clubs would be required to allocate their funds strategically as to not exceed their restrictions. This would ultimately lead to clubs being forced to weaken aspects of their squad to compensate for the development of youth players. For example, according to Transfermarkt, since the beginning of the 2017/18 season, Trent Alexander-Arnold’s transfer value has risen from $1.65 million to $121 million. So within 2 seasons Liverpool would have to lose a substantial chunk of wages from their books and subsequently worsen due to their successful youth development. Salary caps make maintained success become an almost impossible task. Clubs shouldn’t be punished for smart investment and successful marketing.

If there was a wage cap, it would turn into what its like in the NBA. Players say they get paid so much through a brand and then the club will be sneaky with the money and if they want to pay them more but they are technically not allowed to. They pay money to the brand and then the brand will pay the player more for a higher wage than what they are supposed to be on.
