It doesn't matter what critics and some people says about this movie, this is one of the MCU masterpieces. It has great soundtrack, good plot great special effects and gives a new fresh air for Marvel movies. Loved Shang Chi.

@Gerald H Not so much an agenda as it is a bubble. An agenda suggests they went to a movie with the intention of hating it, but it's not like that. Instead, it's more of a feeling they get when something doesn't fit neatly into their bubble. It makes them uncomfortable. Deep down, it also makes them afraid, which in turn makes them angry, so they lash out.

Did people not like it? I've only seen like 1/3rd of the marvel movies but thought this one had great choreography, obviously referencing Jackie Chan and I love martial arts movies. Plus the bad guy had motivations and was more complicated and then I just love mythology in general so the ending was fun. I've watched it a couple times now and really like it.

Bambo is super strong and has a tensile strength of 28,000 per square inch, in comparison to steel which is 23,000 per square inch. It can be grown quickly in the climates where it is used as scaffold and its bio degradable so you don't end up with landfills full of it. It's much lighter in bulk than steel as well. But because it is a wood it is called a safety concern, which is true because its tied together instead of clamped and being wood, fire is a concern.

I live this film. I originally felt it was a little long, but that doesn't bother me anymore. Shawn/Shang-Chi was believable. Love Aqkwafina. I have loved Michelle Yeoh since Crouching Tiger. People had a huge problem with the Mandarin in Iron Man 3. Thus movie addressed that well. And, yes, MORRIS!

Unlike in this movie, in the comics the Mandarin (Wenwu) and Shang Chi are not related. Basically Wenwu is a mix between Fu Manchu (Shang Chi's father) and Mandarin. also in the comics, the 10 rings are literally rings (the ones that go on the fingers) but Marvel changed the design and the abilities of the rings because the rings were similar to the infinity stones.

Honestly, I'm not the least bothered by the change to the Rings. Comparison to the Stones aside, these Rings are just so cool as a weapon concept. They're incredibly versatile, able to be used both offensively and defensively, in a variety of configurations, and most importantly enhance combat without detracting from the flow of the action.

I did not intend to watch this movie until I saw a clip online with Wong in it. I was very pleasantly surprised. I think many of the creature we saw were taken from actual Chinese mythology. Very surprised you didn't recognize Trevor, from Iron Man 3, who pretended to be the Mandarin. Love you…but very much disliked “Sheng-Chi” there are so many flaws and stupid elements to it that I would never watch it again…and I’m glad I never paid to see it. The same holds true of “Black Widow”, “The Eternals” and “The Suicide Squad”…all of which bombed at the box office in 2021 as they should have…along with “Jungle Cruise” and others…2021 was quite a trainwreck for movies. The only movie great film in 2021 was “Dune”.

I actually really like that they are just friends. Not every movie needs to copy and paste a romance. This was a really cute and genuine friendship in a movie between a man and woman lead which we don’t see a lot of in Marvel I really wanna see more of that.

@@OhThatRobin I don't really have a dog in the fight on shipping, though I thought the end had changed the tone enough to suggest that things had changed. But the argument of "finally, platonic" DEFINITELY doesn't hold water. Part of this is because there are so few women that most of their relations are going to be platonic. But let's take Nat--obviously, she may as well be Clint's sister, and she develops a really strong friendship with Steve and Sam. (In fact, the only time they tried to ship her with someone, it was a tonal disaster.) Wanda is romantically involved with Vision, but also friends with Steve and Hawkeye. The only people we see Nick Fury being friends with (except for the guy who betrayed him) are women--Maria Hill is his good right hand and he was basically Carol's sidekick. In Agent Carter, Peggy is never anything but platonic with Jarvis, or with Howard Stark, which must have been some kind of record for Howard. And speaking of the Starks, Tony and Pepper were platonic friends for years before the movie, and even after they got together, the movies focused on their love, not their romance. Thor's best childhood friend is Lady Sif, and his adult friend, to whom he trusts his kingdom, is Valkyrie. While T'Challa has a love interest, outside of his solo movie is solely seen with his sister and General Okoye, the first of which is obviously platonic, and the second of which certainly is as well. Drax and Mantis explicitly state that they find each other romantically repulsive, but are great friends. Gomora is also friends with Drax. Personally, I think the Shang-Chi/Katy dynamic is most like Tony and Pepper's--friends for years, moving toward something else.

The video nerd on the bus that was filming the fight was the same guy in Spiderman that asked Spiderman to do a flip. Also, Emil Blonsky (Abomination) fighting Wong in the ring appeared in the Hulk. Last but not least, Trevor Slattery, who was in Ironman 2, pretending to be The Mandarin, I felt was a nice addition to the cast. Oh, I almost forgot. A cup of Joe, is a cup of coffee, java, bean juice, dark mana, awake juice/cider, and quite a few other much more colorful names. It's weird that if I ask for a cup of Joe now, most places have no idea what that is. I guess I'm just getting old.

And Trevor Slattery, a character that is a mediocre actor at best in the MCU, is played by Sir Ben Kingsley, Best Actor Oscar winner for the bio-pic "Gandhi", and a lead in "Schindler's List", amongst other movies and many stage roles.

Just so you know, Hawkeye also has his own series. Coming late this month is Moon Knight. Spider-Man: No Way Home will be available on digital Tuesday March 22nd and on dvd Tuesday April 12th. One last thing: record label 88 Rising curated an original soundtrack for this movie similar to Black Panther and Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse. Half of the songs from the album made their way into the film's final production.

I'm curious of her opinion on Eternals as well. Though there are obvious tropes that carry even in Shang-Chi and Eternals that are in all Marvel movies, it feels like they are definitely trying new things with these movies, which I appreciate, instead of sticking with the same copy-paste formula. I do get why many average Marvel movie viewers didn't like Eternals, but I really enjoyed it personally. It had a different pace, flow, and even visual representation that Marvel doesn't usually show. I do think the cast suffers from being too large (because of the Eternals team being so big), but with what time most of the actors were given, most of them felt unique and interesting in their own way. I probably took to them a little quicker because I actually know the Eternals from the comics, while many have no idea who they are. (I also think that there were foundations set for all of phase 4 in Marvel in Eternals, so there may be things to appreciate about the movie when we look back years later.)

@@darkwyve I’m a comic reader as well. I have some thoughts about this movie going forward lol. Tiamut and Arishem hated each other. Tiamut even beat his ass and the Celestials had to step in. They slept Tiamut in Earth’s ocean. I have theorized that Tiamut wasn’t being born. He was waking up. It wouldn’t destroy the earth because he’s not in the core. Arishem used the Eternals to kill his rival. That’s what I think we saw.

This was really well received. It was a great movie. And brought some new life and factors into the MCU. Simu Lu imo is instantly one of the leading men in the MCU, he has great charisma, and character to him that comes out in Sean I think. :) loved the film. Also one of the more sympathetic villains as well

@Duaffy Bamboo scaffolding is quite strong and still widely used in China and near by countries: It actually as a HIGHER tensile strength than steel! And in that part of the world, it is so abundant that it is much cheaper to use than metal scaffolding (Not to mention environmentally friendly to produce).

Since you watch a lot of Marvel, I'd like to recommend that you watch "Blade". It was the first successful movie based on a Marvel character in 1998, saved Marvel from bancrupcy and thus, is pretty much the ancestor of every Marvel movie of the 21st century. Also, if you want "Spider-Man: No Way Home" to be 100% spoiler-free, you'd have to watch all Spider-Man movies (3 Raimi / Maguire and 2 Webb / Garfield ones) and for the post-credit scene, both Venom movies.
