I really enjoyed this tag. I also loved Roll of Thunder when I was younger. I definitely need to re-read it and read the other books in the series. A professor once told me that some books are best read in Tadem. As a fellow lover of, Their Eyes Were Watching God," I would recommend reading, "The Color Purple ," along side it as I think Alice Walkers work complements Zora Neal Hurston's. I haven't quite dipped my toes into historical fiction all the way, but I love historical romance. Since you like both romance and historical fiction I think you might enjoy some Queen Beverly Jenkins. I would recommend Indigo, Vivid, Bell and the Beau. I also think you might enjoy her contemporary series Blessing. I loved Reel by Kennedy Ryan. I also enjoyed, "All the Sinner's Bleed." I loved One of Us Knows by Alyssa Cole as well. I think you might enjoy Blanche on the Lam a historical mystery series. Also, "The Cutting Season, " by Attica Locke. I don't have a Fantasy rec for you at the moment, but I do love Fantasy. I love paranormal romance as well. If you haven't tried Paranormal romance I would recommend, "The Wolves of West Texas," by Chencia C. Higgins. Black love and shifters. Thank you for sharing your video ❤❤❤

I instantly got All the Sinners Bleed when you mentioned it in a different video and have to say, you were right! 5 stars!! I listened to it through Libby and the narrator....🙃 Killed it. I read The House of Eve last year and that was also 5 stars for me and I don't understand why people don't talk about it more. I plan on reading The Yellow Wife also by Sadeqa Johnson very soon. I think we are book compatible! There were several others you read that I agree were awesome reads! So glad you made this video!!

I read yellow wife first and then The House of Eve. Yellow Wife was tougher emotionally for me but worth it. There is a tiny easter egg that you pick up on between the two books. 🤗 And the same person narrates all of S A Cosby’s books. I love his voice 😆

I think we are pretty compatible in book tastes! The only genres that may be iffy is sci-fi and fantasy since that’s my main genre and I’m particular with what I like lol
@rouxellereads6 ай бұрын
For beginner fantasy I’d recommend That time I got drunk and saved a demon by Kimberly lemming. It’s very light and comedic fantasy so not too much for beginners. Also Raybearer by Jordan Ifueko is a YA fantasy but really good world building. The Earthsinger Chronicles by L. Penelope is fantasy romance but I liked the fantasy aspect of the world more than the romance. It could be a good one to try. Daughters of Jubilation by Lara Lee Corothon blends magic and historical fiction so I think you’ll really enjoy that one. It is so good and I love it. For sci-fi, if you like plot driven stories, escaping exodus by Nicky Drayden has a very interesting set up and reads quickly. Also An Unkindness of Ghosts by Rivers Solomon blends historical and sci-fi since the ship is structured like the antebellum south. Of course the Black sci-fi queen Octavia Butler. And if you want Sci-fi romance there’s Taken to voraxia by Elizabeth Stephens. I hope you like these if you try them! Like I said, sci-fi and fantasy are my favorite genres 😊

Yay, we have some compatibility!! I loved the vanishing half. I just finished one of us knows, and that was my "what did I just read?"lol. It was very creative. I also just finished dragonfruit, which is a YA fantasy, and I enjoyed it. I think that would make an awesome movie. I was pressured into reading before I let go and I almost dnf, because that is typically not my genre and started getting bored but I'm glad I went back to it. I did enjoy and may read her second book. I downloaded when the moon hatched because it's on KU, so I'm looking forward to reading that next.

Good evening! I have not read any of those books. I was listening to "The Davenports" but must finish it. I am enjoying "The Davenports" so far. We are compatible in Historical Fiction because I enjoyed reading that genre. I am starting to read classics. My favorite genre is Romance, but I am more into a clean romance with mature characters. I don't see myself reading Fantasy and Sci-Fi because I'm not interested in that genre. I am definitely checking out some of the books you have talked about in the HF, Classics, and Thriller.

Roll of Thunder was my favorite book for years and I read 4 in the series. It should be required reading in school. I read the House of Eve too. Now, I picked up The Davenports and read a few pages then stopped because I found out there would be a sequel. So, I pre-ordered the sequel and plan to read it right before I get the sequel. Yes, we have the same taste but I can't read heavy books even the House of Eve had me ugly crying- I had to skip a few bits in it, great writing but the trauma was too much for my tender heart. I've looked up the romance recs but the dialogue and attitudes is not what I look for in romance. I prefer gentle and tender romances and have a hard time finding that in black contemporary romance. I want something like what I see in Nigerian romance movies- I love Nollywood romance scripts.
@KaylasBookishVibes7 ай бұрын
I’m not familiar with Nigerian romance movies but the romances mentioned are definitely soft and sweet. Except maybe Before I Let Go. That one has heavier topics but the others are super sweet 💕
