So, I know this video is really old, but I recently saw you on Niel's channel and I thought you were cute/funny/awesome and wanted to check out your channel, so naturally I went back to your earliest videos. I can't believe that you came out when you were 11 and that you're only 15 in this video. I didn't even tell a friend until I was 16 and I did tell my parents a year later but it wasn't that great I definitely wasn't fully comfortable with myself my sophomore year of college when I had a boyfriend who was very open it forced me to be comfortable with myself. I'm 28 now and life is awesome but I basically wanted to say that I'm pretty envious of you that you had such a great coming out so young, I wish I had come out earlier and then maybe I would have been much happier and confident in my teenage years, like you were. Honestly you look a bit young in this video but if you had told me you were 18/19 when you filmed this I would have believed you just based on your confidence level. Anyway thanks for being so awesome, I can't wait to check out more of your videos :) -Fred

Thanks for sharing your story with us. It was not "uninteresting" AT ALL. It's SO heartwarming to hear when guys come out at a young age and have supportive families/parents -- I'm sure you don't take that for granted. BTW, I voted for Gabe too. Hope it helps! Keep making more awesome vlogs. You're always inspirational and your warm, positive personality always shines though.

I really like the fact that you have enough courage to come out online and say stuff like this. I truthfully don't agree with those that choose the course you have decided to take, but it really is inspiring for those that feel that they cannot come out to anyone. You seem like a great guy though and I hope that you have a happy life with whom ever you choose to be with :)

myself as a flamboyant bi has a coming out story because coming out is equally about letting others know and letting yourself let others know...very few of my friends were actually surprised to here about my sexuality (more were surprised that I wasn't strictly gay), but the real triumph in coming out was coming to grips with it myself and instead of letting it be a mark of shame, letting it be something that I was proud of... even though not everybody I know knows, I am no ashamed of who i am.

The best time to come out is when you feel is best, don't feel pressured to come out or pressured to stay in the closet, it's entirely up to when you feel comfortable letting people know. You're still really young. Also your mom is amazing, :D and from what you're saying I'm pretty sure she had a solid hunch for a long time. As for school, it really depends if you feel you can trust the people you hang out with, also if your environment is fairly open-minded, I guess? Do what feels best for you

Wow, so amazing that you were able to come out at such a young age and your family was fine with it. I came out to my parents when I was 20. I am now 35. My parents haven't spoken to me in 15 years. Not everyone has such an easy time with coming out, so count your blessings. I would've been better off if I had never come out at all, I lost my friends, family, everything. I am still single and have a handful of friends now today, but honestly, I am not happy. Good luck to you!

Your story made me feel very sad because I was so VERY CLOSE to my late mother who died 15 years ago. However, if they rejected you like that then THEY are AT FAULT and not worth YOUR time. Don't look back and don't ever let ANYONE make you feel like less of a person for having the COURAGE to be the way GOD made you!!

My friend...count yourself very fortunate. Your coming out story makes me both jealous of you and proud of you and happy for you all at the same time. I hope you will always appreciate that for far too many gay guys, coming out is a long, difficult and sometimes complex process. David, you have so much promise and so much opportunity at such a young age to live your life to the fullest as who you really are with the love and support of your friends and family. May you go far :-)

This video made me cry remembering my own COMING OUT drama in 1987 when I was only 19 years old. My late mother was an older lady ( I was the BABY in the family by far,) and she was also Catholic and from a generation that did not "understand" homosexuality. Long story short: an older male friend came with me to my house and sat my mother down and told her that I had an important announcement to make. My mama burst out in tears but eventually came to "understand" and accept me as I was born.

Gosh, David I'm a common French high school gay guy who didn't know a word about you before seeing this video. And the fact is that I'm fighting harsh emotions right now (in the right way, don't worry) because your coming out story's just soo close to mine, that's crazy ! You're amazing, I now saw some of the other videos and am looking forward to see the rest of 'em and we have the same opinions about most LGBT issues. Thanks for doing what you do, it'll definitely help people who don't know how to deal with they being gay.

I tried to come out to my mother last week, but all she did was start crying and make me promise her I would be a "normal" person. And not to ever ever tell my dad about it. I felt pretty bad because it was such a honest momento for me. But at least now, I can say that I tried.

@circlenostar I can't help but being so proud of you my friend! The world you will be "out" in is a far less hostile place than that which I came out in as a boy! When I was not yet 18, I met and fell in love with a boy named Bobby Griffith(Prayers for Bobby). His family at the time was dogmatically religious, and the pain of the closet was unbearable for him. He took his own life in 1983!

@beeboyjay don't do it unless you feel ready, when you do feel ready you will know about it :-) also be careful, you might want to hint to your parents and get some idea of how they might react, if they are going to react badly, you might want to wait until you're able to take care of yourself as things might get hard for you at home. good luck! you will be fine and no matter what happens, everything will be okay in the end.

Being able to talk about being gay openly makes me feel great and I can do just that here on the internet. I constantly get into fights at school because I talk openly about it and most of my friends have ditched me, but I will never stop shining because I am the star of my own story. Hate may hurt, but love heals.

hey. i'm 16 and still figuring it all out. I've only told 2 friends about how I'm attracted to girls. One said no way because for her it really was a "stage." and the other friend said she still loves me and I can talk to her about it any time. It's hard not to express it to other people. I learned that friends who aren't supportive aren't real friends. You'll find someone and when you do they'll love you for your strength and courage to be who you are. Message me if you ever want to talk.

ct and we have only spoken of it a few times since. my mom was perfecly understanding and I think my dads grown to be ok with it as long as im happy. It was a shock and they said they had no idea. (probably b/c im a masculine farm boy lol) but anyways I feel kinda dumb with my story/comments but maybee it will help someone who is trying to come out or thinking about it. If my dad (who was very old fashioned and closed minded to gay life) can accept it almost all parents are still going to love

Such a relief to hear this! Until a year or two ago I was convinced that I was also bi (and I had been using that term since high school). I laughed when you were talking about your ex girlfriend because I had a girlfriend about three years ago. We went out and all I talked about on the date was how hot Zach Efron was. She actually admitted it was a bit strange but I didn't' think much of it. But like you, I have since come to the conclusion that I am gay. I have pretty much come out to everyone within the last few months and I'm happier than I have been in a decade!

I had to come out like 4-5 times to my parents. I rescinded my statement like 3 times between middle and high school because of reactions like "maybe your hormones are off today honey," in spite of tears in my eyes... I came out over the phone in college many states away to my mother who then told the extended family and she still makes hurtful comments, so I confronted them about it yet again when I was nearly 26 (days before) and pointed out the comments she makes are hurtful. Now 2 wks l8r!

I remember the exact date when I first discovered I'm bi, and I didn't bother telling my parents cuz I don't really talk much to them anyways so I don't see why they should know. Most of my friends now and I'm open about it if you ask me. Most of the people at my school think I'm lesbian although I'm bi and some guys always come up to me and hug me cuz they think it'll gross me out. I never bothered to correct them. but if you have cool parents, they actually might KNOW something about relationships, sex, and things from their own past experiences, or from friends or coworkers that they know. Some parents actually do take their parental roles seriously as to teach anything to their children that the child needs or wants to know. Sometimes parents actually DO know what they are talking about, and they'll have about 20 yrs head start on you in the experience and "heard that before" department.
