Wow! What a great resource to have with our Luminance pencils, when doing portraits! I love Buff Titanium for blending and I stopped trying to pronounce the new pink, I just call it Noid Pink or Anthro Pink, I haven’t decided which one yet. Look at all these gorgeous colors! Thank you so much Karen, for sharing this amazing color chart for portraits and for everything else you share that helps this community to grow in this art form!❤️

You are most welcome Keni! I think the Caran D’Ache employees were laughing their butts off when they were naming the pencils!😂

@@ArtbyKarenValentine Many pencil lines use traditional pigment names for their colors, such as venetian red, earth green, ultramarine pink etc. These are colors that are derived from earth pigments. Anthraquinone is a chemical that is used to synthesize anthraquinoid pink, hence the name. I'm of two minds on the naming of pencil colors. On the one hand, it's often easier to remember names such as peach or marine green. On the other hand, when manufacturers use the pigment name, you can anticipate what color the pencil (or other medium) is going to be if you know your pigments.

@@alexandraemrick2799 Thank you Alexandra. 😊 I was simply making a joke on how difficult the names were to pronounce. ❤️

Hi Karen. Totally agree with you about the Luminance pencils. I had purchased around 20 pencils, open stock purely for skintones. Many are the same colours you use. They are so creamy and blend so well. Top quality pencils for sure. See you soon for the next one. Love Ya.x ❤❤❤

Thank you for this list. I don't have the full set, but I agree with you that Luminance is great for portraiture (landscapes too). I think I need to order Hibiscus Pink next time I place an order for art supplies! I would love to see more videos like this. 💖

Thank you for posting this list...I was following your Luminance Portrait list & then got a bit confused when you added more. This makes it much easier to follow along, Do you have any plans to do Queen E II portrait for sale, perhaps a younger portrait with one of her Corgis?
@ArtbyKarenValentine2 жыл бұрын
I’m glad you found it helpful Terrie! No, I have no plans of doing a Queen Elizabeth portrait. Sorry. Maybe another artist? I haven’t seen one though.

Hey! Was wondering if Caran D’Ache might mix ok with Prismacolor? The 76 set of CD just doesn’t seem to do right…
@ArtbyKarenValentine Жыл бұрын
I mix the two all the time. They play beautifully together. 😊

@@ArtbyKarenValentine what do you think about the included 2 blenders in the CD set? Mine broke in half, first time I ever tried to use it. Amazon wants the entire set back, and won’t give me a replacement for just one piece! Grrrrr….
@ArtbyKarenValentine Жыл бұрын
@@pagalmasala I’m not familiar with the blenders that come in the set. Unless they are they hexagonal grey full blenders. If they are those, they are my absolute favorite blender for all colored pencils. But they are notorious for breaking if dropped or if too much pressure is put on them. Stick them in a B pencil extender for a little more protection.
