Awesome! I've been listening to death metal for 25 years, but both Frozen Soul and Enforced are great, it's the riffs and the catchiness that does it. The production is great, not overly polished but crisp. Same with Hellripper, catchy as hell, although I prefer his previous. I don't mind rehashed stuff as long as the riffs are killer. Hypnosia - Extreme Hatred is an older example, it's complete Kreator-worship but they do it so extremely well and I think it's better than anything Kreator put out, not by much, but still. Been meaning to check out Vastum and will do that now!

New Sub, enjoyed the video! I'll check a few of these out I haven't heard although I even think a lot of more obscure bands are still taking the Frozen route, where the ability and cleverness just isn't there. That 2022 pharmacist LP sends all these home on a stretcher, I did really like the new Vomitory but they screwed up the guitar tone, did the "Wall of sound" thing with too many tracks overdubbed but the songs were good. Definitely an honorable mention to the new Sadus as well, I liked Cattle when it first came out but I agree it's overproduced, it's done the opposite of grow on me.. can't really stand that triggered wound anymore. Good Job!

I think Hellripper is overhyped and overrated and TH is just a good example of another band doing the same type of music. Early Dying Fetus is cool , honestly the only one I own is Destroy , I like the Hardcore edge on it. Cheers

For me, I heard some cool death metal this year that no one is talking about. Malicious - Merciless Storm (Total Necrovore savagery) Mortual - Evil Incantation demo Dark death metal, Mortem and Sadistic Intent influences. Check ‘em’ out.

Chances of me listening to 10 new 2023 albums complete and being memorable wouldn’t happen. I’m stuck in the 90’s till death. Until I own everything i want from the 80’s and 90’s I just don’t need to invest in much new releases. I’ll still listen to what friends recommend but it’s rare I’ll purchase it. I prefer to save my coin and buy a 90’s release I missed in the day. Am not going to be completely ignorant just like what I like.

Yea that frozen soul is boring, the new Hellripper has some cool riffs but I ain’t about to put it in my top 10 let alone 20, enforced I thought was a good thrash album, I don’t hear the 90s slayer, I barely like slayer past reign in blood. New Cannibal had riffs in a style I’ve never heard from them, thought it was the best album they’ve put out in a while, figure it’s Erik Rutan. I’m not big on Cattle Decap, can’t get past those Smeogol vocals, shits cringe and corny. That Anthropophagous album you mentioned is pretty cool, enjoyed that one. I don’t care much for Autopsy but I liked the new one quite a bit. Festerdecay I thought was like really watered down Pharmacist, I do like it though. Definitely agree with you on the over saturation of metal. Most of what I’ve heard from those newer popular bands you mentioned hasn’t been complete shit, just way overhyped and mediocre. As far as I can tell, it’s “safe” death metal made for and by hardcore kids who up until recently thought death metal was uncool 🤷‍♂️. I also personally find it hard to care about new releases by a lot of these legacy bands. I don’t need to even check out the new Cannibal or Obituary. I might listen online, but chances are I won’t buy the album, so it’s not really a top priority lol. Also some are way way overhyped like Tomb Mold, Sanguisabog, Frozen Soul, and.. Hellripper. That guy needs to get a full band. It sounds too much like just one guy fiddling away. Never got into it. I skipped some crappy years of metal for sure but also missed some good shit in the underground which has been fun discovering. 90s OSDM is killer and Grindcore. Black Metal second wave is ok but first wave of 80s is still my main jam. War metal / bestial BM works well for me in an old school Venom vibe. I do like some of these new school OSDM bands but they get super same-y after a while. Template shit. Even the cover art is too amazing lately and repetative I mean give some raw shitty cover art again like the old days. Cheers brother!

Where i think Hellripper is better than those other ones you mentioned are the vocals. They are a step down vocally. Had Hellrippers new album not mixed it up a bit on then I might have thought a bit less of it but hes expanded enough for my ears. Frozen Soul was the only other album i bought and im not a huge BT guy. The production is a bit clearer than them old BT albums and Karl Willets always sounded tired to me. I agree with modt other points about stuff. I need very little adddd ro my collection nowadays.

Just could never get into Hellripper it just sounds kinda mixed up and generic to me and don't get the hype. I rarely buy new releases unless it's a show I'm at but I did order a few just because I think they will sound better on a physical form and think I will listen to them in the future, guess time will tell. So again? Why own more than 150 great fucking albums? Take that album you are spinning during this video. How many times do you actually spin that in a year? Buying albums we missed back in the day that are only now getting attention because of the internet aka channels like yours and Kens for example showing them off, or buying albums to complete full runs of are favorite bands or???? Just buying new albums by new bands that are retro clones. Me? I’ve spun that new Obituary about 3 times this year. I guess Im a big enough fan that sometimes when I want to listen to some Obituary I don’t always want to listen to first 3. But again I love Obituary. Totally understand that most people only need albums 1 and 2 from that band. I’d rather give the Tardy bros my money than some wannabes for their record. New bands? Yeah…I’m done. If you are a new band imitating an old one then get…it…right! Down to the last minute detail or I’m skipping it. That shit better sound vintage as fuck or don’t waste my time. Unless your band is made up of a bunch of old school dudes trying something new then I’ll be a bit more open minded. Anyway, just depends on how you collect. Haha loved this video! That Tomb Mold album blows chunks. I love Immortal but that album is generic as fuck, anybody who puts that album on their list has no taste. The one that really blows my mind is Hellripper. I swear to that thing is on everyone's top ten and it's a snooze fest! Dying Fetus was a HM for me but i love that band. Top 4 in their catalog so it'll stay in rotation unlike most of these other big "legacy" death metal bands new releases.

I think a lot about being a kid buying records. I would take weeks to decide what I would spend my measly dollars on. We had to take a leap of faith because unless a buddy had it , you could not hear anything besides a single on the radio . That only counted for radio friendly stuff. I remember torturing myself over purchases. 😂😂
