Of the 3 Remakes, it's the one that comes closest to replacing the original but not fully. And if I could point to the biggest reason why, it'd be Ada and how her character changes in both 2R and 4R ruins any chances of Leon and her romance to flourish, in my opinion.

I’ll admit I haven’t played RE4R yet, only the original, but based off from what I’ve heard about it and the changes I’ve heard, I don’t like some of what I heard. Couple of things I don’t think I like the knife parring stuff, that not logical Resident Evil stuff. Another thing that I heard or more saw, I absolutely hate the way they’ve desexualized Ashley in the Remake, I hate it. Nothing shows on her and she looks like she’s on crack in the Remake, her face is awful compared to the original.

Leon is tough, for sure. But to say he has be through worse than Chris is wrong. It is also wrong to say he has been around longer, Chris was in the franchise and fighting the undead since game one.

Some of these are pretty good, but there are 2 in my opinion that don't make sense. Primarily how you said the Remakes need to stop. You said how Resident Evil 4 Remake is the best game in the franchise and Resident Evil 2 Remake is the best Survival Horror game in the franchise. Out of the 3 Remakes they have released so far (Not counting RE 1 HD Remake since that isn't on the current engine), out of those 3 games, 2 of them are highly regarded as the 2 best games in the franchise. So that logic to me atleast, doesn't make a whole lot of sense, if they consistently release very well produced games, 2 of which being worthy of best in the series, why should they stop? Seeing underrated or overhated games like RE5, RE0, Code Veronica etc. if they were to get remakes, and if they were to get the love and affection RE 2 Remake did and RE 4 Remake did, RE 5 might get the love and respect it deserves, which ties around to the second point that doesn't make sense to me, you said RE 5 is a top 5 RE Game, that's a fine thing to say, but wouldn't you then want that game to be remade and perhaps be even better and then solidify it as a top 5 and not have that opinion be controversial? I don't know, thats just me. Other than that I can see the arguments you made for the other points and agree. Only one I fully disagree with is RE 4 Remake being the best in the series, RE 2 Remake is damn near flawless to me so that will always be my #1.

Valid takes, but the remakes to me so far feel like they showcase the game as it was originally intended. The Re4 remake made some changes to the story that made the mission feel much more serious and Leon more professional. Im playing Silent Hill 2 for the first time (remake) and i think the OG voice acting would've killed the experience for me.

Your unpopular opinions are popular with most modern RE fans except for no more remakes. The remakes being similar to each other in my opinion doesn't really matter as long at it's different from the original which is the main reason why people buy them in the first place.

My own personal hot take, Resident Evil 4 Original is one of the most overrated games in gaming period. Not just overrated Resident Evil Game, ALL games. For its time it might've been amazing but looking at the game OBJECTIVELY, the AI is horrible, gameplay is extremely outdated, Leon's character makes 0 sense (PTSD Riddled guy (RE2), turns hot shot cocky one line maker (RE4), turns alcoholic and overly depressed (RE6 + Movies and more side related canon), it just doesn't make a lick of sense. If he was riddled with ptsd, then turned alcoholic, that would make sense. Why is this weird middle section where he's a cocky snotty brat though, that just doesnt make sense. Im not saying Original 4 is a BAD game, its still like a solid 7, but it is in NO WAY a masterpiece nor is it even the best in the franchise.

I also think it has some of the most boring villains in the franchise, they have 0 depth, most basic writing imaginable and are just uninteresting. They are all just higher and higher ranking members of Las Plagas, Big cheese is just a priest who started teaching the teachings of Las Plagas, Del Lago is just a tadpole, literally. Salazar is was just the next castellon of house salazar who joined Las Plagas, and then Saddler is just the leader of Las Plagas, thats so bland and boring to me. Krauser though... Fire character, good writing, good depth since he has that trainer trainee connection with Leon, etc. other than him though, all the villains suck.

People call it a masterpiece bc of the gameplay not necessarily the story/characters, although the campy plot and voice acting is a huge part of the fun (for some). While the controls/mechanics might feel weird due to modern gaming standards changing, that doesn’t change the fact that re4 was groundbreaking when it was released. The original has so much more character and charm than the remake, which is literally just an re4 skin slapped over the re2 remake. Games don’t need to all adopt the same modern cookie cutter controls/feel/aesthetic to be good

@@ThatWTVGuy i’ve been gaming since i was 3 years old with my first console being the Atari then the original xbox when i was 5 and still gaming to this day, I was alive, to see gaming evolve and yea, i stand by my point RE4 is extremely overrated. Is it a good game? Absolutely, but its no masterpiece and its not perfect. I’d argue it wasn’t even the best game to be released in the time period of 2000-2005. I’m not saying the game is BAD, but is it overrated? Absolutely. There are games from back then that hold up to todays standards way better, and no doubt did the game have flaws that almost everyone over looks and lets fly simply because “it’s RE4”, that’s called bias my friend.

@@offwhiteimpala I’m fine with the controls and mechanics feeling a little old and outdated, but you cannot call a game a masterpiece if the game is clearly lacking in multiple multiple areas. I simply do not believe that, and i never said i am asking them to adopt the modern feel or control, im saying the game just doesn’t really hold up to todays standards, but i’d say Resident Evil 1 HD 100% does, and that games even older than RE4. The game might have character, but it has character because the game is quite literally damn near meaningless in terms of story, character development, plot etc. It has probably some of the most bland villains in terms of writing in the series, leon acts all cocky and witty even though we know based on his story that he 100% does not act that way, he turns into a damn alcoholic for christ sakes, so that doesn’t make sense, the AI is absolutely horrible and we 100% had games back then that had semi competent AI and a slew of other problems i could probably list as well. A game with these large amounts of glaring issues being constantly overlooked by people is annoying as shit. Again, am i saying it’s a bad game? no i still think that game is a decent 7, i’d heavily disagree but i could understand someone giving it a 8, but there’s simply no way i can be a masterpiece if it only excels in 1 out of like 4 or 5 areas of design.
