I think it's really interesting that people pick on every little thing Obama and Kamala say and do, but never comment on the disrespectful comments and non answers of Trump and Vance. Where is the outrage where Trump comments about Chicago? Where is the outrage when Trump said that he's going to be women's protector? Yes, people should be able to vote for whoever they want, but Obama was expressing how he feels about a certain group of voters. This is something Trump does all the time. He talks about what he thinks of people. Obama said the SAME thing during his rally in Pittsburg earlier, where he urged all men not to think that Trump's bullying, disespectful behavior towards women was a sign of strength. He repeated the same core message to all men during the rally...yet - because he happens to be addressing black voters in this instance - people think he's making it about race and specifically targeting black men.

I’ll tell when people started to vote based on one’s identity, I can’t speak for local or state elections but nationally it started in 2008. I know of plenty of people who voted for Obama solely based on skin color. The Democrats have been very effective at using identity politics to turn elections into popularity contests. @@LlamaFantasy , I don't see anything wrong with Obama reaching out to the black community for their support. In an ideal world, appeals like those which sound tribal in nature would not be a thing. The truth is both parties have their core constituencies to whom they reach out for support. For Trump and the Republican Party it's white evangelicals and for Obama and the Democratic, it's African Americans. When Trump tells his supporters if they don't vote, this may be the last election they'd ever have, nobody from his base is upset that he's speaking that way.

I think African Americans should vote for whoever they want to vote for. The problem with some of us have is the make up of the other side - MAGA. We would like to vote for some other alternative that would speak to our issues and not use our votes. Trump's Administration had very negligible minority representation. Now that's a problem. I'm not about to dump one party in the hope that things would change if I vote for the other side. I have not heard anything in terms of policies that can help me make an informed decision.

Yet the results speak for themselves and economic conditions were better for minorities under Trump’s administration including in terms of small businesses. Trump also gave unprecedented funding to historically black colleges and universities. I’d pick better actual outcomes over empty representation figures but that’s just me.

I COMPLETELY agree with Rev Ward. I am a 72 year old white man, and I lost much respect for former President Obama because of his recent speech. To be blunt, his speech was an example of racism; he tried to convince individuals to act based on their race, and this not in concert with Rev King’s life and walk. I also really appreciate your connection to CITIZENSHIP and to our responsibilities as Citizens. This recent political season seems so absent of fundamental Civics and Constitutional Law and principals. Seems our K-12 educational system has failed to equip us with correct content about civics, our US history (and world history) to promote an informed, engaged, and knowledgeable electorate.
