Absolutely! Some dont have internet access so no worries about them landing somewhere they should not and also makes them tinker/appreciate. Todays day and age you can download 100's of games, you aren't forced to finish that game you picked up the other day

When they are older yeah but for my 6 year old they can be too complicated and have too many shortcuts. Hell be super invested in a game and then accidentally press the wrong buttons and messes with some setting that changes the filter or loads an old save state and quits the game. Watches and handhelds, the hobbies that can steal all your time! Just picked up the Anbernic RG40XXV. It’s amazing how far the handheld emulation scene has come. I remember stockpiling 3 psp3000’s 15 years ago for fear of not having an emulation handheld in the future. How foolish I look now. Amazing stuff out there.

Loving all of these devices! I have a steam deck and RG 35XXH. I really liked the Loki series, but they stopped selling them so fast! Just a side note- you said you enjoy tinkering with the Anbernic. Steam OS is just a Linux distro, and isnt locked down at all. I bet youd enjoy using something similar (like Bazzite) on the Loki. Emualtion is amazing on the AMD chips with Bazzite/Steam OS and emudeck. Highly recommend trying it!

I played Pokemon from red/blue to gold/silver/crystal era. Then I just stopped for years. Missed all the generations until now. Missed all the handhelds in between as well. Just purchased a used DSi, finally decided to start playing heartgold/platinum and I find myself having much more enjoyment. Something about the simplicity.

on the topic of that AYN odin, i had the original pro and in my life until now (a ps4 pad recently got stick drift) it was the first controller/console ive ever experienced stick drift with. i changed them out with some hall effects and enjoyed it a bit more. i mostly used it for remote play (probably 300 hours or so) it was pretty good but i donno, it had no feeling and thats what its like with a lot of these newer emulating consoles. i feel like a steamdeck or even an rog ally has more feel, soul etc. ive ended up switching back to using all entirely original hardware and playing the carts or just getting an everdrive but making the most of the original hardware
@noophe574717 күн бұрын
another thing with the odin, the triggers wouldnt fully push in and would creak against the back of the shell, removing the back of the shell and trimming around the triggers made a world of difference great video i have subbed :)

The DSI is such a clean looking device . That matte finish was such a good idea . Now that you can mod them ots even better. DS doesn't transfer well to one screen systems so to play those good old games its the best route to go. I honestly find the PS VITA to be one of the best old school handhelds to get right now. Vita doesn't have great emulation so the OG device is the best way to go. Once you mod a Vita you get Psp ,ps one and Vita games all on one system. If you haven't tried out Y's games the Vita is the best place to dip your toe. Between the PSP and VITA you can play almost every Ys game ever made. Nice vid man 👍

I loved my RG351P and my RG350M - my first 'import retro handhelds'. That DS you mentioned was a DSi, just sayin. Not a fan of Windows handhelds or Windows anything. My 2024 handhelds - a variety (all) of the Nintendo OG handhelds - modded, an FPGBC, modded PSP and Vita, a Trimui Brick and a Retroid Pocket 5. Those are what kept me playing everything from GB to Switch game...oh and a Switch OLED is also in my collection. I also have some (most of the ) home consoles as well.
@The9to5Gamer19 күн бұрын
@@Raphtor13 love it! Thanks for the support. You are correct, it’s a DSI. Since I have an SP I didn’t mind the DSi not having backwards compatibility to play gba games. I am thinking of adding a pocket 5 as well!
@theprophet24444 күн бұрын
have a bout the same hardware you have, though I don't have that ayn Windows Handheld. I found the Odyn2 is great for GameCube, PSP,(especially, since it's also 16:9 and you can use 5x resolution and texture packs) PS2 and everything bellow. I also have a modded GBA SP, it's amazing really, such a small device and so many memories and thanks to the extensive library of the GBA SP I still have lots of games to look forward to, even though I owned one with a lot of games back when it was the newest tech. I also found it to be much more enjoyable than playing on some emulation handheld, it just plays differently, more responsive maybe, on the original system. I also have an Analogue pocket but I mainly use that for NES, SNES, GB/C and not GBA, since GBA has black bezels and the screen is barely larger than with the modded gba SP and it's about a draw in terms of over all display quality, since these new IPS V5 screens are just so good and the perfect ratio for GBA SP.

@The9to5Gamer lmao. well GBA got a gold mine in terms of games. I bought a RG40XX v to play gba, snes, ds and n64. If I were to make my own dream game handheld, it would be the exact 2DS model, but 2x 3.5 displays and based on linux. There is something extremely similar coming, the screen is way smaller but its still dope looking "magicX touch 2" and the "magicX touch 40"
