My Review of French Tier X Destroyer Cassard | The French Torpedo Line

I´m a DD main as well and I have the Cassard. Since this line was designed as a torp boat, I built mine 100% for torps. With full torp build, they reload in 80 seconds, which isn´t bad for a DD with torps that hit hard. When I run into another DD and have to fight them, I hit my speed boost and play with my throttle. True that the guns are floatier than the ones on the Kleber, but they are less floaty than the Marceau guns and I do great in the Marceau. What i´m getting at is play the Cassard as a torp boat mainly. And you have guns that are good enough to fight other DDs better than other torp boat DDs. In short, my advise is if you want to play gun boat French DDsm play the original line. But if want to play a very good torp DD that´s not helpless against other DDs, this line is excellent. Fun fact about these French torp boats at close range torps hit like Shima torps but at range they hit like Gearing torps , so essentially you are getting a taste of both IJN and US torps !!!

our clan has been practicing DD, Cruiser and BB drops. Just getting the newer and older players to support the DDs like people use too. One thing we saw in CB, we are killing the DDs right off the bat. This line looks interesting for our game play we are trying to relearn or teach. Support the DDs, blind the other side. Then pick them off one by one.

The DD is typically the fastest class on the map. Part of your responsibility is to locate yourself so that your teammates are in a position to support you. If you are frequently taking engagements without support, to a large extent as a DD you are choosing to put yourself in those positions. Always ask yourself what more you can do to help your team win. Potatoes are a fact of life, they will always be a part of this game, you have to think how to deal with that fact.

Dude the lack of support here lately is crazy. Years ago when I started playing it was common knowledge that you support your DD and if you see the other DD you shoot it. You kill all the enemy DD's and they are blind or they used to be blind before CV's and Subs came to the game. Good review Ripper as usual. those who dont support and run from flank (sadly its todays reality that every bb player just abandons flank and crosses the map for no reason) are the first to say dds dont spot or die too fast

@@nunocaeiro7683 it is BB's and Cruisers for me here lately. I waited outside of a cap earlier today during a random match waiting on support and instead of moving up so once I spotted the enemy DD that was capping the team could shoot at it together my team hid behind an island and called for intelligence over and over again in chat. I am a DD main but play cruisers and BB's also and always try to stick with the DD on my flank if possible. The numbers don't lie. The team that loses all its DD's first usually does not win the match.

How the torps work is, that they deal damage based of distance travelled. This is different from where they were launched. If a ship sails away from you, the torps travel longer distance before they hit the target and deal less damage. If a ship comes toward you, the torps travel a shorter distance. So for example, if you are at 10 km from the target and launch the torps and the ship sails toward you, the torps hit when the target is 8km from where the torps were launched, they deal 100% damage. On max travel distance the torps deal 40% of their max damage, so they are basically like Halland torps at max range. Not too impressive, but also not bad, because Cassard torps have a 417% flooding chance, where the Halland torps have only 173%. Reaction time is identical between Halland and Cassard.

Thanks for the showcase. I desperately wanted the guns to work, but alas it's a trap. Best to use boost and kite away shooting when spotted.

Yeah, it was pretty obvious pretty early that the new frog line is very much a torpedo boat. You only take a gunfight when you have no choice. I found them OK, but not amazing. If there's no radar or CV and you can close, the torps are VERY powerful. But, I can't see myself playing them much. If I'm looking for a pure gunboat, lots of better choices; if I'm looking for a torp or hybrid, I'm probably going to take YY, Daring, Hayate or something like that.

It plays more like a Halland than Gearing cos you dont have a smoke and have higher concealment around 6km. For build just use standard Shima/Halland build. So full torp build and RPF.

Not a DD main, I'm too impulsive for that. Seeing a sub, I'm like an enraged dog and fire automatically when I shouldn't... Cassard has the same stealth than a Z52, I guess it would work nice alongside a Z52 in a division.

im sure you know this but at the beggining u are wasting ur speed booster by sailing straight for him. Either juke back and forth or just go sideways without turning until he leads enough to compensate for 45 knots

I can't speak for Ripper but RPF for a destroyer is a great tool. It is active intelligence coming in at all times for the closest enemy to you. Intelligence wins battles
