I added elements+ into Elements 11 and than 14. I liked it before but with your tutorial, I love it even more. I knew the stuff was there but I was not able to use it all that well. They even send you email when they add stuff and send you a site where you can download improvements at no added cost. So much for so little money.

I am sure every year the folks over at Adobe think about what new goodies they will give us for the next upgrade of elements. On the elements plus main page shows a list of functions they have added to the different upgraded elements programs. For example, the plugin for PSE 14 has added Layer grouping in the PSE 15 plugin grouping is not needed because it is already in the program. By purchasing this plugin you probably are looking at what PSE 25 will look like!!! LOL!!! This is a great find, thank you George for doing a video on this. I know it deviates from your main focus area, however, plugins are part of life on the internet also! Curves, frequency separation (that easily) I'm sold!! Thank you my friend once again! Rich

You're welcome Rich! I tend to use plugins, custom brushes and stuff frequently but I try to stay away from anything that would cost in my KZbin videos. But after getting several questions about Elements+ I figured I should do a video on it. I will be doing some more reviews in the future on other add ons that I have found useful for Photoshop Elements. George

I have watched countless how to videos, spent hours floundering on the computer without any idea of what many of the tool symbols do. As a result, I have not successfully edited one image, but am not giving up. I’m hoping your course will help me achieve a learning goal and gain some value out of this program.

Thank you. I recently learned about Plugins but could not find a good explanation of how they worked. Now I know. I was wondering, if you had several similar pictures can you do a batch edit with the adjustment curve or other tools?
@HTGGeorge
@HTGGeorge 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Sandy, that is something you could do over in Adobe Photoshop by recording your adjustment curve or other tools as an action then automating that using File/Automate/Batch but you can't do that in Photoshop Elements mainly because you can't record Actions. If you have Elements+ installed it has an Events Manager that will allow running of Actions based on an event, like opening or saving. If what you want to do is already available as an Action you could use that for some automation. For real automation control you need Adobe Photoshop. George

Curious as to why Adobe allows a third party plugin such as this. You would think they would rather have people buy the full version of photoshop instead of allowing plugins that expand Elements.
@HTGGeorge
@HTGGeorge 3 жыл бұрын
Adobe has always been very supportive of third party plugins for their products. Besides Photoshop Elements isn't a pared down version of Adobe Photoshop, it is a different graphics program for consumers and hobbyists that in a lot of ways runs very much like Photoshop so it has a completely different target audience compared to Adobe Photoshop.

Hello Mr. Peirson, I just watched your video on Elements+ plugin and it was very informative and was just wondering, since I have PSE 15, and with future versions of PSE coming out every year, I am thinking that adding this plugin and any others it may not be necessary to buy the latest PSE versions every year, what are your thoughts? I really enjoy your KZbin videos and trying to learn from them. Please keep up the great work. Semper Fi, Joe W.
@HTGGeorge
@HTGGeorge 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Joe, If I was not making these training videos I would only upgrade every 3rd version or so although I feel that Photoshop Elements 15 is a required upgrade do to some of the new features. You never know what Adobe will add or remove in the next version so you really need to see what has been changed and then make your decision based on whether or not those changes are useful for you. For instance the new Adjust Facial Features in PSE 15 is a magical tool that has no Elements+ counterpart. But working with Layer Groups is something that Elements+ has added for several versions but PSE 15 just added it now. So really a matter of seeing what is new. One worrying new feature in PSE 15 is that Adobe has now added ads for Adobe Photoshop onto the bottom of several tools in PSE 15, Adjust Color Curves is one of those tools. So Adobe really wants people to stop using PSE and move over to Adobe Photoshop where they make more money. I don't know what this says about the future of PSE but Adobe is good at keeping old programs alive forever, they still sell Pagemaker which was replaced by InDesign ages ago. Personally, as I mentioned above, I would check out the new features in PSE and purchase accordingly. I would then get the Elements+ for that new version so that I have all the tools. One last thought, PSE 10 was the last version that had a good Slideshow feature so I keep my old copy of PSE 10 on my system just for the Slideshow tool. I do something similar with Adobe Photoshop CS6 which I keep installed even though I have the latest Photoshop CC 2017 installed as well, there are some features that Adobe removed in later versions that I still use. George

Hi George - Very useful tutorial to complement your full basic course DVDs on PSE. I am just beginning with this plug-in (for PSE 2019) and have two problems. #1 I cannot get auto layer blend to work - always get the error message that the tool is not available for use. #2 I cannot find the slice tool which cuts up a picture into equal parts. Supposedly it is there, but I can't find it. If you will be doing more tutorials on this plug-in, these two topics might be of interest to other users. The DVD training set you offer on your web site is great - just what I needed. Thanks.
@HTGGeorge
@HTGGeorge 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Robert, for the Blend Layers command you need to bring up Elements+ from the File menu. First select the layers that you want to blend, then go to File/Automation Tools/e+ Layers. and choose Blend Layers from the menu. If you try going to the Layers module from the Effects button it will only allow you to select 1 layer, so you can't do any blending. The Slice Tool only works on Smart Objects, but that being said I have never had any luck with that tool either. George

George, I've been using Elements + off and on for a number of years. I couldn't find a solution to my problem in the Elements + Help file or on their web site. As I recall, I had a histogram behind the curve when using Elements + curves feature. I can't get the histogram to display now, I checked and the Histogram box is checked, but no Histogram displayed. Since I displayed the Histogram in the past (as I recall), I feel that I must have turned something OFF. I can't figure it out!! What have I done?? Great video and a great PSE plugin. George, thank you for your reply, not sure why it's not showing here! However, the Histogram box is checked in the Details section! I checked and unchecked the other three boxes and saw no difference in the presentation. I'm using PSE 11, would that be a factor??

Hi Ted, since you had it working in PSE 11 in the past then it should still be working now. Possibly some other setting in PSE has been changed and that is interfering with this setting but I can't think what that would be.

@@HTGGeorge, FOUND A WORKAROUND: Digging around the Elements+ website it says that some users of PS Elements 2021 and 2022 will not be able to move the nodes with the mouse. Hi Leslie, unfortunately I don't have an answer to that, I can't find it mentioned anywhere on the Elements+ website. What I would do is to install it on your main computer, then try installing on your secondary computer. Most software companies allow 2-3 installations per purchase, Adobe doesn't of course but Elements+ may. @HTGGeorge 4 жыл бұрын
Hi, it depends on how the object was made. Photoshop Elements doesn't have any 3D capability so it can't do anything with that. Elements + has more layer styles so if the golden text is made with layer styles Elements + may be able to edit it. Keep in mind that Photoshop Elements is dramatically less powerful compared to Adobe Photoshop. You can do more with Elements + and it is a great add on but it isn't a replacement for Adobe Photoshop

I have the Dutch version of PSE14, do I get it in my language? And what does Adobe with this add?
@HTGGeorge
@HTGGeorge 7 жыл бұрын
Hi, I checked the Elements+ web site and their plugin is available in English, German, and Russian. I know that it is created in Germany. Adobe supports the use of plugins through their Actions and this plugin is built using Actions. Adobe does not give any customer support for 3rd party plugins but they don't try to block them either. I am not sure if you installed the English version in your Dutch PSE 14 if the program would display in English, depends on how it is accessing the names and titles of its Actions. If it is grabbing those from the program then they may be displayed in Dutch, if it is putting them in then they would be displayed in English. Since the program is basically run visually having the labeling in English should not cause you much inconvenience. The plugin will not change any of the other Dutch settings on your computer, it is an add on instead of a replacement for functions. George

Hi Tori, you caught me while I am on KZbin, so... fast answer. All of my videos are demonstrated in the latest version of the program when I do the recording, so since this past October all PSE videos have been shown in PSE 2018. This coming October I will be switching to PSE 2019 when it comes out. When PSE 2019 is available I will do a review of the new version to see if it is worth the upgrade but I will always be using the current version. In my KZbin titles I try to list all of the versions that the video applies to. In this case Elements Plus actually is available for several versions before PSE 11. I use PSE 11 as my earliest listed version in the titles because Adobe made a big change with the look of PSE in version 11. Most of my training will work with versions earlier than 11 but they would take some interpreting since the program looks different in those earlier versions. George

Hopefully ... whoever is at the helm running the Elements plus platform, becomes aware of the fine work your doing as a promoter, especially considering the ease and skill at which you teach. It's unfortunate that your services weren't enlisted in the beginning as their tutorial instructor ... you most definitely make a big contribution toward the roll out of this products success. Your large following of viewers speak well to the testament of what I'm saying.

Thanks Brian, I am more than willing to do video reviews if asked, and even more willing to have them pay me for my time as that would help keep the channel going. But since that never happens I will continue to do the videos that I think people would enjoy seeing and that answer questions I have received. Right now about 1/3 of my videos are based upon comments or questions, the rest I do based upon popular searches I see on KZbin so I know they are of interest. These Elements Plus videos go back to a suggestion a couple of years ago about plugins. Elements Plus t is a great little plugin set and I will be doing more Elements Plus videos and other plugin videos as we move forward. They are a great way to get the most out of Photoshop Elements. Hi George 😊 I absolutely love your videos and have actually enrolled in your tutorials for Elements 2019 which I'm working my way thru. I'm seriously thinking about buying Elements plus but my biggest problem is not knowing how to use it properly. Is it possible for you to perhaps do paid tutorials for this 🙏. I certainly would subscribe to it 👍 cheers and big thank you for all your You Tube tutorials. I've certainly learnt alot from them 🤗🤗

Hi Dorene, unfortunately there isn't enough interest in Elements+ for me to put the time into doing dedicated training for it. I do have a few videos here on KZbin and I will probably do a few more this year. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bJ2XiH2JaLuZmpo, kzbin.info/www/bejne/sKrWmoOapJxgn5Y, kzbin.info/www/bejne/boqymH9rd66Ho9U, kzbin.info/www/bejne/b2KvoI19qJKXrKs, kzbin.info/www/bejne/hqPWm3-hasp0maM

I need help to add an Alpha channel to my .DDS files for game editing, They have 4 channels, R,G,B plus Alpha. I have PE 2020 Trial and would like to purchase it, I can export as DDS ok, just need all channels, Will Elements+ see the Alpha channel and let me edit it?
@HTGGeorge
@HTGGeorge 4 жыл бұрын
Photoshop Elements is not a good choice for editing channels. Elements+ is only partially useful for that. If possible I recommend using Adobe Photoshop which has everything you need. If that is too much then Gimp can also do the job for free or Affinity Photo which only costs 1/2 as much as Photoshop Elements.

@@HTGGeorge ,Thanks for the reply, I am a casual user and don't edit a lot of photos. It's a shame that Adobe PE doesn't enable channels editing. They just lost a customer to GIMP. I will look at Affinity Photo and see if it will work with .DDS (DXT) files. Thanks again.

@@Heddy1957 You're welcome. Gimp is free but has more of an old style interface so it isn't as easy to use as Photoshop Elements. Affinity Photo has a 10 day free trial and is a very nice program, I am really quite impressed by it. I will be doing a video about Affinity Photo at some point soon.

@@HTGGeorge Thanks for the Affinity Photo suggestion but it does not support a DDS plugin and seems to be in no hurry to support it or simple Alpha channel editing. Hope this helps with your review. @@soapman7x7 First make sure you close down and the re-open Photoshop Elements. It loads elements+ on startup. Then at the bottom right corner of the Photoshop Elements screen click on the Effects button. You will see the Elements+ right there on the right side. Hi Alan, not exactly sure which part of this video you are referring to. But in general when using Blend modes you need to be on a layer that has other layers beneath it since you are blending a layer into other layers below.

@HTGGeorge 4 жыл бұрын
@@alanbaldwin5516 Hi Alan, the Blend Modes work on everything under the blended layer. So make sure you only have 1 layer selected, the one you want to blend into other layers. You can't select multiple layers and apply a Blend Mode. The Blend Mode only works on 1 layer, blending into everything below that layer.
