Just got mine 2 days ago. This camera is a demon. Very good sharpness and iso performance. Very small as well

I'm all for making colour work. It's similar to how some people like to blur backgrounds, because a blurred background is easier than forcing yourself to find a nice background that will work for the photo. It's the same with colour, you have to know how to work with colour, it's harder than getting a colour mess, or a b&w. But here's where I can really praise B&W photography is when B&W shows hidden shapes or changes accents, showing things we don't notice in real life

Couldn't agree more and B&W photography is a different beast but so rewarding seeing details that we'd normally miss in our everyday life

What is best Ricoh GR IIIx settings to shoot in aperture mode f2.8 lowest ISO possible and best auto focus and all menu settings for portraits?
@SPTSuperSprinter156 Жыл бұрын
what settings did you have dialled in for the shot at 3:51? I like how the dark areas are lifted slightly above pure black but the highlights are not overexposed. Is this achieved with the highlight/shadow contrast settings?

A very helpful video - thanks. I’m thinking of buying this camera, but undecided which version, probably the original 28mm equivalent, to give more latitude in depth of field??
@stefansender2634 Жыл бұрын
GR III user here - I went for the 28mm because that was the length I believed I was more comfortable with. While it might sound like an overkill, I heard of people who went for both III and IIIx to avoid the dilemmas :-)
@petertaranscorsese2900 Жыл бұрын
@@stefansender2634 - thanks, I’ve heard that too, but the attraction for me of the GR is its tiny form factor…. I don’t want 2 of them! :- ) I appreciate your reply - thanks.

Hi Jchen. Great video! I saw you´ve been using GR III x for a while I was wondering if you had any heating issues. I just bought my GR III x this week and after 10/20 minutes of usage (setup some settings, taking some shots) it gets really warm on the grip. Is this normal on GR III x? Thanks a lot!
@jasonpchen2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Daniel! Mine does get warm (especially outdoor in the summer like now) but not to the point where it's too hot to hold or not able to function properly. Hope all is well with your Ricoh (:

@@jasonpchen Thanks very much for your feedback was really helpful! I was geting really worried about it, because I didnt´t know if it was normal or not and I couldn´t find comments about that anywhere.

You can name your customs using the customize settings option in the menu. Custom settings can than be accesed through the top dial and will display whichever name you have given.

I'm really surpirsed by how much AWB compensation you dial in. What do you get at 0,0 on AWB? Is it too magenta or blue by default?
@-grey2 жыл бұрын
3:44 looks like the default auto white balance you might see in an EOS R or R5, is that why you chose it, by any chance? 😉

Thanks, very helpful video.This week I ordered my first Ricoh GRIII, but did not pay and pick it up yet at the webshop because I got a little bit flu. But now I am starting to doubt. A couple of days ago the price of the Ricoh GRIII went up with 70 euro and maybe I should wait for a Ricoh GR IV. Missing a flippy screen on the GRIII is a big thing for me. What do you think I should do? I saw some rumors of a GR IV coming in 2021(!) but that seems not reliable.
@zeneal2 жыл бұрын
Every GR has its own character. There's still people who use the GRII and the OG GR. You'll love your III even if the IV comes out. Also these cameras hold their value pretty good so you'll always be able to sell it.
@stefansender2634 Жыл бұрын
Also, the camera you hold is probably better than the camera you don't hold yet. I didn't even think about GR IV when I got my GR III and I don't regret it at all :-)

@@stefansender2634 I purchased the GR III some weeks later and I am still happy with it.Took some nice photos at a museum last week with a slow shutter speed. Because of IBIS they were all very sharp.
