My room in VR in 1:1 scale (Photogrammetry Scan)

I matched up the 3D scan of my room to the dimensions of my actual room. Jumping on bed in VR ensued.
note: the Tilt Brush smooth HMD view is slightly higher than the position of my headset, so it seems like I'm taller in VR that I actually am. That's just a perspective difference

hmm you need like either 2 360 cameras for stereo or a 360 with a lidar that spins and scans up down left right forward backwards and also with a great resolution AND at a great framerate with enough megapixels for picking up details as well and some AI to understand that with a 360 in a place you're missing textures from the other side of what ur moving so it needs to combine already existing data with stuff in real time. oh boy

Being able to look at old photos on the walls, your books on the shelves, toys/knick knacks you had, maybe even looking out the window and seeing your neighborhood how it used to look. It'd be like subform of time travel. This is awesome.

Won't be long before they do! If you hang around rendering communities (particularly for architects) you'll realize it's only a question of time. You can get photorealistic results with only a few hour's worth of rendering, so give it 10 years and it'll be minutes, another 10 and we should have 60 fps! That is if we don't get a breakthrough in making the photorealism more optimized, or even a hardware change in direction. Can't wait either! :)

0:20 I like the confidence when jumping on your bed, it actually means quite a lot. I'd kill for a quick and cheap way to process scans from the Quest cameras . And owning that data would be icing on the cake.

This is so cool, yet kind of scary on how advanced we've gotten with 3d graphics and vr.

You have stairs behind you. Imagine peeking to see whats there with VR on and looking into void. Just your rendered room rendered in the middle of nowhere. That would be pretty dope

That's awesome. I did this once with some basic 3D modelling and that was enough to freak my brain out, I imagine a photogrammetry scanned room with all the textures freaks a brain out even more!

Same thing here. Crazy how even just a SketchUp model does the trick if the physical objects are there.

deprecatedcoder yeah physical boundaries are really satisfying to feel in VR because you expect the opposite.
