my approach is fine over the long term, most important thing is to get started and build your income over time to continue compounding as time goes on. I did put in 100 grand years back and kept reinvesting, well diverse, now it's value over five hundred k and increasing.

Great vid! I agree that the Roth is best suited for growth. I keep my dividend and REITs in other accounts and just cry about the taxes 😂 I do have some SCHD in my ROTH just in case I do not want to sell all my assets when I'm 60. Maybe that portion could cover a bill or two who knows what will be the case in 30 years.

Can i give you a scenario id like some feedback on.. I'm having a tough time figuring out. 1. I max out my Roth 401k with employer match yearly (Heavy in dividend stocks limited on choices through the employer) 2. I max my Roth IRA (yearly) 100% SCHD 3. No spouse 4. NO DEBT 5. I have 100k sitting in an individual account with Fidelity i have no idea what to invest in? I'm thinking VOO But idk? What would be your recommendations for a guy 42 to get the most out of that 100k, I'm done 100% working at 60
@isidrorenteria8198Ай бұрын
Love the video Danny. Alot of your recommendations throughout the time I've had my Roth IRA I have in my portfolio. With the market fluctuating my investments have dropped but at the moment it's in profit. If im not mistaken you mentioned that you dont own SCHD in your Roth, is there a specific reason why you dont? I just purchased VAW in my Roth IRA and have my SCHD. Except for both of these ETFs, my portfolio is nothing but Index Funds.
@DannySullyАй бұрын
Thank you very much! I really appreciate that. And yes that is correct for SCHD, because of my age I don't need this in my Roth IRA. I prefer only for what can bring the growth. SCHD is more stable than growth. Although a great way to diversify, throughout the video I mention at my age, the growth is far more important. As I get closer to retirement I will slowly transition to dividend, stable investments but right now I don't believe it will help me as much as a standard stock market fund. Personally choice though! My next video i'm going to cover this in more detail as well.

Hi Danny! Why do you do FXAIX in Roth and VOO for your taxable account? I don't fully understand the difference or how an ETF is more tax efficient

What % would you recommend between small cap, mid cap, large cap, international, and SP500?
@darwintortoza169Ай бұрын
Hi, Danny. Great video. I have a question, why do you have FXAIX and VOO? I have FXAIX in my Roth IRA account and SPLG in my brokerage, just because I started first the brokerage but I don’t add more money to SPLG. Is there any reason for you to have both? Is there any advantage ? Thank you in advance.
@DannySullyАй бұрын
Hey! Great question. So the index mutual fund is in my roth ira because of the features fidelity offers with it. They're not huge differences but I also started with this index fund a few years ago and the returns are similar to ETFs. I recommend ETFs for brokerage accounts because they are considered more tax effiicent. Although index funds this is not a huge concern, ETFs overall in brokerage accounts is the way to go all around (my opinion at least). The FXAIX for me is a personal choice i just prefer.

Agree to a point , but I think of my RIRA like I think of my 403b, it can’t all be voo and qqqm - some Schd will balance it out to ensure it won’t drop too hard when we eventually see a huge drop I have 25 years and hold no bonds in either for what’s that’s worth (def not risk adverse) RIRA = VOO 50%, SCHG 20%, SCHD 20%, VGT 10%

It doesn’t matter if it drops a lot if you’re not touching it any time soon since the market will bounce back and grow even more

I think it’s important that investors decide early what type of investor they are. If they are growth investors, they need to know that they could see red for months or even years. For me, it took a toll and made me want to sell some investments at a loss. I found out later in life that I sleep much better as an income/dividend investor. I like seeing weekly, monthly, and quarterly dividends compounding. I also prefer a buy and hold approach. I plan to keep my investments for life.

I’m confused as to why you feel Schd shouldn’t go into a Roth IRA. It makes no sense. It’s an asset you don’t have to sell but will be able to live off the dividends. People who think like this don’t use jobs properly. You should be adding the full amount to a Roth 401k and vesting for 3-5 years and leaving and rolling that money into the Roth IRA. You would have plenty of money to invest into a Roth IRA but y’all wanna stay at jobs forever.
@abinlukasabraham29 күн бұрын
Schd gets qualified dividend so take the tax advantage in normal account. Still Not a bad move but growth tax is going to be a killer when selling in huge amount when retiring, which you can avoid in Roth Ira.
@nightdonutstudio3 күн бұрын
Schd is also good in roth ira. But if technology is still the future and keep booming. Growth oriented etf can gain more money than schd. There are etf purely focused on technology. For the past year which techonolgy is booming, the price return can reach 40-60% for the past year where schd with dividend is about 30%. But on contrary in 2022 those growth etf performed the worest. So it is more risk. But again the purpose for roth ira is do not sell it until age of retirement. So assuming American economy is not collapse in the future 20-30 years. Overall growth etf should give more return than a safer etf.

Can you make a 401k video? I can’t invest into an IRA because of my income.
@DannySullyАй бұрын
An IRA you have the ability to invest however you want. If the income is too large you can contribute to a traditional IRA and doing things properly, you can backdoor to a Roth IRA. Something to look into!

By backdoor roth, you would just max out a traditional IRA and then immediately roll it over into a Roth IRA and pay the taxes
