Hey buddy! Love your channel! Saw you were looking for advice on Royales. You’ve got great foot/ankle and knee positioning. The one thing I would advise is sitting back more into a squat. This will take some leg strength for sure, but your upper body won’t tilt so far forward. When you tilt forward especially on a ledge you’re toes will engage and you get wheel bite. Practice stalling that royale in a squat position, and head facing where you’re going and not down at your feet. Keep going! Love seeing content like this!

I've been really struggling to not lean over like that, I have to constantly remind myself to keep my chest up but I still do it instinctually, I'm gonna keep trying my best to fix that

You should get your right skate to the angle where both backslideplate and frame is in contact with rail/curb. So you should have more stable stance. 4:04 was the best Royale in this video imo. There you had that right skate almost the way it should be. Concrete curb might be easier to handle because there is different kind of friction that gives you more confidence to your balance. Still nice progress you have 😃

yeah I wish I had more small concrete curbs to skate near me, its hard to get that boot down perfectly but im working on it everyday! I made good progress recently those videos should come out this week

You might want to give royales more of a go on a concrete ledge (like your driveway) instead of an angle iron edge at a skate park. Now that you’re getting better at them. The feeling of sliding on concrete is so much more satisfying compared to angle iron.

yup thats for sure, I did some royales on a small cement curb but its time to step it up

agree. like a lot of us, I learned on curbs. there's also a little bit of insurance knowing the concrete can slow you down a bit if you charge at it. angle iron raises your chances of slipping out if you're fully dialed in

Your almost there. Sit down on all your grinds more and you’ll have it. If you’ve got a forward lean then your weight not over your skates. Concrete curbs for getting it stable though.

I need to rub brick a curb near me so I have easy practice, I have to drive a bit to get to any cement ledges that don't have angle iron

my suggestion is watch Acosta blades, he has a video on royales which is awesome where he explains how to squat more and bend the knees so your weight is a bit more forward. eitherway great progress as always

Royales are definitely one of those tricks I gain or lose depending on the boot stiffness. You got it at the end-probably when your intuitions warmed up and got a but more pliable. Keep it up, man! 🤘

I didn't even think about that to be honest, that does make alot of sense though lol I usually start sinking into my royale

@@inlineonline lolololol! Love it! So while watching your vid today I was thinking... man almost all these grinds kinda look alike... (way it's felt to me forever) I KNOW non-skaters can't tell em' apart. So quick question (frfr nocap here) Why not just work on ONE type of grind and get it on LOCK so you can do like 5stair rails... etc etc? Instead of trying to be a master of all the things.
@inlineonline
@inlineonline 2 ай бұрын
@@Sicnus because that gets outta hand very quickly, I'm not super interested in really risky stuff to be honest. I want to learn alot of tricks and switch ups, like an unskilled sean kelso. If I was worried about impressing casual watchers I probably wouldn't have started rollerblading to begin with all it takes is 1 mistake on a big handrail and you're not skating for months, I'll stick to learning a bunch of tricks in low risk situations, of course I can always get hurt like this but once you start going big it just gets bigger and bigger until you get major injuries, and no one is paying me to do this lmao

It can get boring to keep drilling the same grind over and over again to master it. I agree that focusing on one grind at a time does work to help some people focus though if they’re feeling overwhelmed. IMHO, the best way to learn is to skate with friends on street and push each other. Best memories I had as a young’un growing up.

sick progress bruddah! seems like you're getting enough speed. Something in my head keeps saying to use the P rail with a downward angle but maybe thats a step too far.
@inlineonline

That would be good practice for hubba and handrails, make it taller and taller over time. I have an extra prail at home we can build up like that but a lot of skateparks have ledges like that too we just have to drive to them lol everything good is at least 30 minutes away from us
@FunghiJacob
@FunghiJacob 2 ай бұрын
Its ideal to imagine you are jumping into and out of each trick, meaning you compress into the gring without passing the tipping point then push out or away from that grind Like curb training. Waxing that much doesnt do you any favors imo. Id suggest jumpin on to your longer prail with "bad" style then lean into the trick to get a better feel of how your body needs to be so you can avoid wheel bite.

thats exactly what I went back to do after this video!! going back to my prail helped alot, I actually just got home from my first street session ever on a concrete ledge! I post clips in my IG as well if you want to see my most recent progress, but the full length video will be out this week. I just skate everyday so its tough to keep up with the videos haha
