Don’t ya hate it when those little easy projects turn into completely rebuilding the entire half of a car? We have a word for it “Sensuous” or “Since you was” in there… I’m sure it’ll turn our super nice and you’ll be way happier than a cheap/easy patch job in the end.

Also, if you plan to use ladder bars with leaf springs it requires axle rotors to stop suspension binding.

Good start, once the frame rails are gone it will be easy to get a one piece floor pan in. I would use the floor pan without the spare tire mount and use a large fuel cell for drag and drives. My firebird started the same way and escalated quickly

If you’re using an Explorer 8.8 with the larger tubes/bearings they do not “yet” sell c-clip eliminators for them. The Mustang/Ranger units won’t fit, to eliminate the c-clips requires grafting 9” Ford ends on the housing.

You have acquired some pretty badass cars. 55, Chevelle, Buick, bucket list cars. You need some heat in there brother. Looks cooold.

You made the correct choice Josh. By this point you understand that doing it this way is going to be cheaper and less of a headache in the long run. That thing looked sick sitting so low and slightly tooted up in the front at the beginning of the video. Looked like a no prep monster just sitting there. I have an old chrysler that was in the same shape. Once i cut all the stuff out for a new back half. I grinded/sanded all the scale off of the frame rails and painted them with weldable primer. Then i went ahead and plated the frame rails. After i plated the frame rails with sheet steel, i built my new back half and then brushed on some por 15. I did that over 10 years ago and it still looks perfect. I know it takes a bit of time to sand, clean, primer and skin the old frame rails in new plate steel, but the strength and rigidity is worth it. Not to memtion how nice it looks and how easy it makes things to tie in bars and mount things clean in the future. Its the best bang for the buck just short of rolling a custom chassis under it. Its more time than money to do it, and your 55 deserves it, that is a bad ass rare car. They are hard to find and usually way over priced for the condition they are in. I even did some nice rear quarter panel mounts with some half inch round stock. Anyways, sorry to ramble bro, im just excited for this build, and sharing what ive done being a budget do it yourself hot rodder like you. One love homie ✌

I used to have a 55 chevy and it pretty much had the same rust so I pussed out and sold it. Someday a guy from south Arizona will randomly call me accidentally and and says he has one for sale......still waiting on that phone call lol.

My first car at 14, without my parents knowledge, was a 55 Chevy. Love them! Can you recommend some books or other info sources so I can study and help set my Camaro up? It might be 40 years later, but I’m still at it lol

Idk about any books, I mostly just read old forum posts. A lot of really knowledgeable people on there. And it's always really cool to see posts from like 25 years ago from people like Monte Smith or something

Josh my old 72 Nova's been a drag car since 1989 and I'm ready to start cruising with it so I'm taking all the drag racing stuff off and building a pro touring Nova that'll still go down the drag strip for a Drag-N-Drive event...

Yeah but it looks like the rear could go forward but I would actually move it back 1” more. Then cut the fender well and add 2” to it , thus making it larger and way easier to go from a big tire to a small tire . It does change the weight biases but you don’t ever have to worry about it being a wheelie car that’s for sure. Also agree with you on pops car being lowered some in the rear

Should replace all oem panels with all metal panels and keep it original looking. There’s already too many cut up race cars. Save this one
@SniderTron30002 күн бұрын
Replacement panels are so damn expensive though lol a new one piece floor is like $1200-1600 after shipping. Even the 2 half's are like $800 for the pair I think. Trunk pan was around $4-500. I'd love to get something I could just zap in real quick but I don't see that happening any time soon lol I am going to go for as much of an OEM vibe as I can though

Can you please build a no prep gmt 800 awd drag truck and start doing no prep race vids and compete in cleetus no prep awd shootouts even a gmt 400 or 900 would also be dope ... basically any single cab short bed made from gm 1988- present ...i know this is a stupid request but i just think the exposure would help the channel and your KZbin career really take off . Your one of my top 10 favorite channels and i want huge success for you... like future cleetus succes but instant boostied boys success status achievements unlocked by 2026 and no prep awd trucks are hot right now and a great wave to ride to more exposure and true og fans will love to see a truly wicked successor to the jack black goldie hawn days or even something more rare or even undone yet a awd version of james brown...
