This is awesome and what I have been looking for. I recently got the 2730 and have already the Elk antenna. I just wanted to do something better than using 2 HT's. You have the perfect set up and thanks for the links. 73 DE K4NCO.

You bet! Check out my programming video if you are new to satellites. It may save you some time and frustration. I show how I set up memories on the 2730. Cheers and 73

Could you do a video on how you program your 2730 for satellites including Doppler shift as well as how you organize into banks? Don’t have the radio yet but I want to be ready! Right now I am just listening to ISS passes on a handheld but plan to add FO-118 and SO-50. 73

Hi Ralph, sure, I can do that. I will try to work that in soon. It is a great little radio. If you pick one up I think you will be happy with it.

I’ve put together your complete kit and the radio is on order. Looking forward to your video!

@@ralphday7573 Congrats Ralph! That is awesome! I should be able to get that done after the holiday. I have one more video that is in process and will do a programming one after that. 73!

I hope you don't mind, but I've gone ahead and ordered that bag. I feel like I should do my own research but it looks too good to pass up!

What model of Elk antenna do you use? Do you have a diplexor on the antenna? Thanks for the video 73
@digital.rancher Жыл бұрын
Hey Jeff, it is a 2M/440L5. Ham Radio Outlet seems to have the best price on it lately. No diplexer required with the IC-2730. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Just so I’m understanding correctly. You have the dual mono plugs of the splitter going into the speaker outputs of the 2730. From there you have the trs side of the splitter going into the recorder and the headphones also going into the recorder correct?
@digital.rancher Жыл бұрын
Yes, exactly. You nailed it!

@@digital.rancher awesome! I dabble in audio quite a lot so I have spare cables everywhere. I’ve had a 2730a for a while now and just replaced it with another radio for my shack. Thought about selling it but now I found my new purpose for it. Your videos are much appreciated!

It really intrigues me that everyone else on KZbin professes the two radio approach, but you, Robert, go against that doctrine. I’d love to see a vid about how you operate specifically with one radio that’s not full duplex. How do you know you’re getting into the bird? Thanks for having a different approach!
@digital.rancher11 ай бұрын
Hey Mike, the 2730 is a dual receive radio. You can actually hear yourself in the downlink. It can be difficult to hear without headphones but it is there. I operate in this fashion when there are onlookers so they can hear the action. The downlink audio is obvious when using headphones, but then those observing don't get to hear both side of the conversation. All that said, with experience you get accustomed to the exchange and you get a feel for the operating style of the ops on a pass and you can have success with just about any radio.

If you watch my satellite POTA video, I operate with headphones and use the recorder audio on some passes. You can hear me in the downlink. I call out when I am using the downlink/recorder audio in the video.
